I have 10.5.6, and need to update flashplayer
Ive been trying to upgrade adobe flashplayer for a while now, but it wont let me because it says i need to upgrade to 10.6. Is there anyway to avoid this? I don't really feel like buying a new opperating system just so i can watch things, but it seems like the only option.
You are running the same version I am on my PowerBook, I'm assuming you purchased the final retail disc version (10.5.6).
The link BDAqua provided to you may help, however judging by the ending of the link ("os=m10.6"), those instructions may specifically apply to Snow Leopard 10.6, while you are running Leopard 10.5.
These are the exact instructions that you need to follow: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html#main_10.4 The link applies to both Tiger 10.4 and Leopard 10.5.
Then click the second link, to download the uninstaller: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flash/ts/uninstall_flash_player_osx_10.4.dmg The link applies to both Tiger 10.4 and Leopard 10.5.
Then you run the uninstaller and need to restart your Mac.
Then you need to download the archived Flash Player 9 and Flash Player 10 (http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp_10.1.102. 64_and_9.0.289.0_archive.zip), extract the "flashplayer10_1r102_64_ub_mac.dmg", and you should be in business.
Follow these exact instructions in this exact order and post back.

I have the latest version and I tried updating anyways, but it still won't let me access the page to fill it out. This is what it says "An Incompatible Browser Has Been Detected Your Web browser is not supported by our Web site. You must use a Compliant Web Browser - Standard* to view our site properly. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version of your browser according to your Operating System. "
This is what it suggests I do, and I did update but still isn't working.

Windows XP - Mozilla Firefox 3.5.x and 3.6.x
Windows Vista - Mozilla Firefox 3.5.x and 3.6.x
Windows 7 - Mozilla Firefox 3.5.x and 3.6.x
Macintosh Operating System 10.5 - Mozilla Firefox 3.5.x and 3.6.x

....I need to have it filled out and posted by 9/1/11 so if i could get into the website it would be a great help. HT4972 i have an iphone 3 and need to update to 1OS5. how do i do that?
i cannot figure out how to update the Ios 3.1.3 to a 5. or higher
The iPhone 3 can only be updated to iOS 4.2.1. The iPhone 3 GS can go to iOS 6.1.2.
To update you need to connect to a computer running iTunes, select the iPhone from the Devices on the left side bar, then select software Update from the Summary window. -
First, how do I create my own favorite theme template for DVD slideshows? I used to be able to select this from pulldown menu, but cannot now do so. I am directed straight to already existing themes, which take more memory. I have a large slideshow, and need all the space I can get. I just want to use a picture as my DVD cover, and then insert a slideshow. Also, when I try to burn my 8.5gb double sided slideshow, all that burns is the music. It is a large slideshow, a memorial on the life of my now deceased brother. This means a lot to me and to my family, and I am having so much trouble trying to burn it. I have gone into Project View and selected appropriately. The bar shows I have room to burn this DVD, but it does not burn. I have burned so many DVDs in the past, but this one just will not burn. I am so confused at this point. I will say this is the first 8.5gb I have attempted to create and burn. My specs list a 7.7gb or 4.7gb as operable....but there are no 7.7gb dvds. I had to purchase 8.5gb. Help? What am I doing wrong? I have spent so much time on this, and just cannot figure it out.
Final Cut is a separate, higher end video editor. The pro version of iMovie.
Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow. It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them. You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version). Personal preferences showing here. -

I have an oritinal iPad and need to restore it to factory settings. I've followed the instuctions from the reset menu. When it powers back up it takes me to a screen indicating I need to attach it to iTunes. The iPad was loaned to me so I did not have a need to back it up. Can anyone help me restore the settings without connecting to iTunes?
Helpjere-
When you reset to factory settings, you erased all content and settings. That restored it to factory settings except that it kept the latest iOS update.
The person who loaned it to you can connect it to iTunes on their computer. They will be given the option to restore from their backup.

How do I add more memory to my Imac, I only have 1GB of memory and need 2GB to download Yosemite?
Janet,
This is why the question rkaufmann87 asked about your model is so important:
[click chart to enlarge if needed]
The list covers the early iMacs with Intel processors that shipped with either OS 10.4 or 10.5 and have only two RAM slots. As you can see, some have limits to what version of OSX you can install. If the step rkaufmann requests does not narrow down your model, you can do one more thing.
While the "About this Mac" window is open, click the "More Info..." button at the bottom of that window to get this (assuming you are really running OS 10.5.8 as shown in your profile):
The code I've indicated with the red arrow corresponds to the codes in the second column on the chart. Post the code your computer reports--again don't post a serial number.
If your iMac shipped with only 1GB RAM, I fear it is one of the earliest models that cannot be upgraded all the way to Yosemite. -
How on earth do I update my Apple ID to my new email address? I keep getting moved to 'change my password' sites, but I have a new email address and need to update my Apple. Frustrated!!
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Create a new email address, for example at Yahoo or Gmail, or anywhere convenient (or you can use an existing address as long as it has never been associated with an Apple ID).
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new address and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support. -

I have a macbook air and need additional storage should i consider a time capsule or a simple external hard drive?
If you move live files (files you don't want to lose) to an external drive, you need to back them up. Any files not backed up are at risk of loss. Hard drives and SSDs can fail at any time. It is hard to backup a Time Capsule so a TC should be used only as a backup device.
Do you have a Time Machine backup now? If so, and if it is large enough, you can backup your internal and external disk to it using Time Machine. If not, you all need to purchase an external drive or TC as your backup device. (I recommend an external hard drive for backup instead of a TC.) Ideally the backup drive should be twice the size of what you are backing up but 50% larger will work so if you have an external 1 TB disk and an internal 250 GB SSD then a 2 TB backup disk will work well.
By default, Time Machine will not backup the external disk. You need to remove it from the exclusions list:
To have Time Machine backup your system disk and your external offload disk up onto your Time Machine disk:
> System Preferences > Time Machine > Options… > Remove the offload HD name from the exclusions list.
