I have 10.7.5 on my MACBOOK;I am wanting to upgrade to Mountain Lion...but running into compatibility problems. Is there a fix?
No. If you don't meet the requirements for Mountain Lion then you are stuck with Lion.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard or Lion to Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later

To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

If you call the Apple Store, they may still have copies of Snow Leopard available though it's no longer listed on the web site. If they no longer have it available, you'll need to look to private sellers, and the prices are rising quickly. If you buy from a private seller, make sure you get the retail disk set (white label with a picture of a Snow Leopard), not the system disks from another model of Mac (grey label).

How will having another icloud email benefit me. I have my work email which is all i require, but had to set up a @me account to get email on my Macbook.
I have a Mac computer that i upgraded to Mountain lion, a macbook pro and an iPhone 4s which has the latest software. all i want is simplicity and to have one email account which which will not duplicate everything 4 or 5 times.
My notes are duplicated, i have to delete my emails individually on all devices so whenever i put my phone on, all the emails i have deleted at work re-appear on my phone and again the same thing happens on my Macbook pro. I seem to spend all my time deleting emails 3 times.
Is there something simple in the set up of these that i am missing?

You will need to call Apple as it is no longer listed in the app store. After paying for it, they will send you a redemption code via email you can use to download it.

All attempts to connect to App store have failed with my Mac Pro. Running 10.6 Snow Lep and want to upgrade to Mountain Lion. How can I do it???
So far all advice useless.You need to be running at least 10.6.6, and 10.6.8 is better. If you have the App Store icon, you are probably already at that version.
10.8 is not available to all Mac Pro 65lb tower models. Those made before the 2008 model will not be able to Upgrade at any price.
10.7 is available if the mac App Store is working, but you will need to CALL Apple Online Store Support to arrange to buy it over the phone. They will sell you a special download code. -

I have a MacBook Air purchased in May 2009 and have Lion on it. It seems to have become a bit slow and clunky! I now want to upgrade to Mountain Lion. Will the 2GB memory cope with it or not. Am I able to put additional memory on my Air?
The MBA's RAM isn't upgradable and while the SSD can be upgraded with third party drives, it voids the warranty. Your computer should run Lion acceptably fast but Mt Lion is a bit of a stretch for a 2GB computer, even with an SSD. Plus, if your computer has something dragging it down with Lion, it isn't likely to get any better with the upgrade to Mt Lion.
If you want to start tracking down the cause of your slowdown start looking at your hard drive free space (you should have 10-15% empty) and use Activity Monitor to check for rogue processes. -

I have an old MacBook, from 2006 and currently have Snow Leopard installed (after purchasing it in 2010), I want to upgrade to Mountain Lion mainly because I want the Xcode 4 which looks 100% better than the current Xcode I have. However, when I try to buy the OS X Mountain Lion it tells me I do not have the correct processor. After a little research I saw an article that said some OS X Lion users could not upgrade to Mountain Lion because Mac is no longer supporting its older models like MacBooks before 2008 or something like that.
So this lead me to the idea maybe I don't have to upgrade to Mountain Lion, maybe I could upgrade to Lion and still be able to get Xcode 4. So, I tried to find a way to upgrade to OS X Lion, but I could only find the upgrade to Mountain Lion. Which is frustrating because I don't want to buy a brand new MacBook just to get Xcode 4, its nice, but not that nice. But Apple should allow me to at least upgrade to Lion, because they decided to no-longer support this older hardware I am still using.Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu; Lion requires a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU and at least 2GB of RAM. You don't need to buy a brand new Mac in any case.

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.

If you can/do upgrade, I recommend you make a copy of the installer and move it out of your Applications folder. The installer self-destructs. The copy will keep you from having to download the installer again. You can make a bootable DVD/USB stick to install using this free program.

Our 2 computers haven't experienced any significant problems, even though others have. I find it much better than 10.7 Lion, which I used for a week before reverting to 10.6.8
Mavericks is supposed to be released this fall, so you may want to wait. -
