I have 17.2GB storage available on I cloud yet my I pad can't even upgrade a simple app as it says it is full - it says I have 0 bytes available
Any ideas?

The purpose of iCloud storage is to store backups and put files in order to be synced through all your devices, not to use it as an additional local storage. This means that you cannot put any app there if you do not have enough space on your device; in other words, you have to delete data from your iPad in order to update apps.

Not having enough storage in your iCloud account isn't caused by using your iCloud email account on your device. It may be caused by having lots of email in your account though.
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage to see what is taking up the space in your account.

An app can need twice the quoted space just during the installation. That could be the problem. It's easy enough to offload some stuff for the insyallation then sync it back.

If you can't get the password correct, you CANNOT restore from that backup.
However, if you've been using your phone as recommended by Apple, there should be minimal data loss.
Your iTunes library is on your computer, so you can synch all your apps, music, movies, ringtones, etc, on to your new phone.
Similarly, contacts should be synched to Address Book, Outlook, or a cloud service for you to easily synch back to your new phone.
Pictures taken from your old phone and not synched to your computer are lost, but you would have been synching those photos to your computer frequently as recommended. Other photos that you synch TO your iPhone are still on your computer.
You won't be able to get text messages back.

You would have to move to the U.S. and find a place to live. Then you would have to get a credit card billed to that U.S address. Then, as long as you were inside the borders of the U.S., you could buy from the U.S store.

iCloud is not a file storage system (dropbox is)
I don't understand the rest of the post, if you are backing up to iCloud there would not be a cable, are you backing up to iTunes on your PC possible?

No, the storage in your iCloud space is for syncing with other devices and back up, it is not for general storage.

Incomplete sync of video podcasts and have plenty of storage available

Hi,
I have a video ipod with plenty of free space (30+ gig). Not all of my video podcasts in my itunes library sync to my ipod. I have tried both "auto syncing" amd "manually" dragging them from the library to the the ipod. It is very frustrating becuase I may only get one or two podcasts while there are 10 that I want to view. All the podcasts I am trying to sync where obtained on the itunes website and are the correct file types for the video ipod. In additon, my itunes says I have the lastest verision of software for my ipod and it is "up to date". Anyone have any ideas to help. I really appreciate your feedback.

The storage you who have purchased is iCloud storage, it is not extra storage on your iPad, you cannot add extra storage space to your iPad.

I am trying to use itunes, it will not open at all, have uninstalled and downloaded new software and 64bit for windows. i have an old ipod nano from about 5 years ago. anything i can do, even to view my purchases and watch/listen to music etc?

ok i have a advent roma laptop with window 7. my itunes used to work fine, completely. every time i plugged in my ipod it was ok. recently my ipod was not working so i never bothered with itunes, however i have movies/tv prog that i purchased and would like to view them. i have an ipod nano from about 5 years ago, the problem with thet is, it switches on, but the circular control panel does nothing, all you can do is lock and unlock it - nothing else.
i tried to download new version of itunes, then uninstalled my origonal version, incase it was corrupted etc, i then again tried to down load new version and also version that is windows 64bit. still when i select the downlaod to open as son as it is finnished nothing happens. and now my desktop shortcut has dissapeared. before when it was there, id double click it, nothing, right click to open it, nothing.
im not the best technically minded but i just dont see what im doing wrong here, please help

I have iWork '09. How do I get the new version? Can't find it in the App Store...

Trying to update to the newest version of keynote so I can edit my presentations on my iPad. It keeps telling me to update. When I do, it says its the most update version, but its actually not.

Using the latest version of Keynote 6.1 has the following conditions:
it only runs in Mavericks, it wont run on an earlier OS
it is not an update but a new application therefore it is a paid upgrade from the Mac App Store
it is available as a free download if you purchased a Mac from October 2013 onwards, if your Mac is older it is a paid for download
If iWork 09 is installed when you obtain Keynote 6.1 the older applications are still installed allowing the two versions to be used for the diffent file types used. Best practice currently is to use 5.3 to oen those files and 6.1 to create new files.

There is no way around activation lock, and no one can help you but the previous owner. If he can't remember his Apple ID ("user name"), he can try to find it as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5625. After finding the ID, he can then reset the password if he doesn't remember it, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5787. If he is unable or unwilling to do this, you will not be able to activate and use the phone.
