I have 19GB of storage. Why can't I update my iPad to IOS 8 when I only need 4.4 GB of storage?

I Have 19GB of storage and only need 4.4 GB to update to iOS 8. It still says I only have 4.9 GB and won't let me update the software. Why?

Do you have that 19 gigs on your device (Settings>General>Usage) or is it iCloud space? You need local space to upgrade.

HT4972 why can't I update my ipad to ios 4.3

I have an ipad model A1219 with ios 4.2.1 and would like to update to 4.3 to be able to install certain apps. Itunes is indicating there are no updates available at the moment. Does that mean that I can't do the update and that I'll have to stay with this ios?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

Hey. I have a 1st generation iPad that is currently running iOS 4.3.3. I have leopard 10.5.8 (yeah, I know. I'm out of date ) and every time I want to update to iOS 5, iTunes tells me that my iPad is not eligible for the requested build. Please Help!

Well, I ordered Snow Leopard so I can download Lion in the App Store and. It should be coming tomorrow. I tried to find other tips on how to fix this problem and alot of them said to use "recboot" in the process. That obviously did not work. I will hi=opefully be able to update when I get Lion.

What happens when you try ?
To update from iOS 4, connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11). You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes (on iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

If you have an original iPad 1, the latest version of iOS it can run is iOS 5. So you should be able to update no problem.
Update iTunes to the latest version (11.0.2). Then simply plug your iPad into the computer and open iTunes. Click the iPad either in the sidebar or the top navigation bar. Then attempt to update the software. If it doesn't work, please post the exact error message.
Note that it would be wise to first ensure you back up the iPad.

No idea. What exactly is it that you see when you connect to iTunes (provide complete text, please).
But, before doing that, bring both your iPad and your computer/iTunes combination back to a 'clean' configuration; on the iPad do a Reset, on the computer at a minimum log out and in of your user account (in OS X, or whatever the Windoze equivalent would be) or if you prefer just do a Restart. If any flags are incorrectly set anywhere that should set them back to their proper states and, if that happens, you'll be in business when you connect and will see the update available.
