I have 2 iCloud accounts, one under hotmail and one under gmail. I would like to consolidate them.

Hi,
I have had an iTunes account using my hotmail email address for a long time. I recently bought an iPhone and began using it and unintentionally created a new iCloud account based on my gmail address (I thought I was logging into my existing account but accidentally created a new one).
All my iTunes purchases are on my old account. This account is also associated with my preferred icloud email address handle. But in the future I'd like to use my gmail address with this account.
Can I consolidate my two accounts?
Can I delete the new account associated with the gmail from my iPhone? If so will I still be able to use my gmail address with the old account?
Thanks for any help
Andrew

If your contacts, calendars, notes, etc. are synced from your Google account they will not be in your iCloud account so you don't need to worry about migrating any data.  You can go to icloud.com and sign in with your Gmail ID and check the data there.  If it's empty (other than Mail), you don't need to migrate any data.
The first thing to do is go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iPhone and provide your password.
Then you need to create another non-Apple email account, such as another free Gmail account.  This is necessary because in order to associate your Gmail address with your Hotmail account, you need to first unlink it from the new Gmail account by substituting the new email account in it's place.  When you have the new account, follow the steps under “How to edit or change  your Apple ID and  primary email address” in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/he68, to change the primary email address and name of your Gmail ID to the new email address.
Once you've done that, go through the same steps with your Hotmail ID, substituting the Hotmail primary email address and ID name with the Gmail address you just unlinked from the other ID.  Save and verify the change.  Your old Hotmail ID should now be the way you want it, using your Gmail address.
Now save any photo stream photos on your phone that you want to keep to your camera roll, then go to Settings>iCloud on your phone, scroll down and tap Delete Account, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted, then turn Find My iPhone back on.  Then sign back in with your Gmail address to reconnect to your original iCloud account.

Try forcing iPhoto to load the Library on the External Hard drive by launching it while holding down the Option key. Choose the Library on the External HD, and quit iPhoto, see if iMovie can see the Library with the iPhoto Videos contained inside.

You have to contact support by web chat. There is no way to do that yourself via the web site or whatever.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The simple answer is yes you can. On a single user computer, the user can have secondary iCloud accounts, which they can add through the system preferences > mail, contacts and calendars. The only drawback here is that only the primary iCloud account can use photo stream. This can be worked around by having a second user account on the Mac. Each user account could then have a different primary iCloud account, one for you and one for him, your account could then receive your photo stream pictures.
Are you also aware that you can have iCloud on your PC and download your photos stream pictures to it.

  • HT4847 I have two iCloud accounts, one with 10GB and one with 20GB...how can I merge them into the 20GB plan?

I have two iCloud plans.  One with 10GB that backs up my 1Phone and iPad.  I also have a 20GB plan for my iMAC and MAC BookPro.  How can I merge them so that I only have one plan and one iCloud to manage?    My first instinct is to delete the one on my iPhone/iPad and add the iMac plan, but I don't want to do it without an expert opinion.

No, accounts cannot be merged.  Am I an expert?  I only know what I've read here numerous times regarding merging of plans - the answer is always emphatically NO.  Since this is a user-to-user forum (Apple doesn't participate here), you'll have to do some searching about on this topic and either accept or reject the "common" advice.

  • I think I have 2 itune accounts open and would like to consolidate them into one -don't know my user name of the one account how can I consolidate these

    Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry, the forum is not letting me post links.  You will need to add the https stuff to the start of this --> iforgot.apple.com/
To identify an account used to purchase an item:
In iTunes, select one of the items purchased from the iTunes store. Click on "Purchased" under iTunes store on the left side of iTunes.
    Right click --> get info.
On the Info tab will be the Apple/iTunesID used to purchase the item.
You cannot combine accounts.  Anything bought with one will permanently be associated to that account.  Decide which one will be your main one and just use it.  Keep stuff from the other backed up so you don't have to log into that account again unless essential.

  • I created two iTunes libraries on my mac mini and would like to merge them into one library. What is the easiest way to do this?

I created two iTunes libraries on my mac mini back in the day. I would like to consolidate them into one iTunes library. What is the easiest method to do this? I do use i-Match to access all my music from  iCloud, if that makes any difference.  Thanks. Mark

Thanks for the reply. When I created the 2 libraries years ago I would hold down the options key and had 2 library names to choose from. Now it just shows a lot of files when I do that, With over 7,000 songs I think I will just look for the few songs from the original library I used to use that still interest me, if they don't show up in my default current library. Thought there would be any easy was to integrate all my music files into one library. I am definitely not going to spend days manually doing this, but thanks again.

One of them can keep the current account.  Since the iCloud email account must stay with the current account, whoever uses it for email might be the best one to keep it.  You can then migrate the other phones to separate accounts, along with a copy of the data.  To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create the new account and choose Merge to upload the data.
Once all the phones are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete each other's data from your accounts.

If you go to Settings > iTunes & AppStore , you can sign out from your account, and sign in with the one you've used to purchase apps. This will not remove any apps you already have on it.
Then you can go to AppStore and download apps you've purchased (either via "Purchased" button in "Updates", or simply search for them and download them.
That way you can have multiple accounts' apps on your iPad. When updating, you will be prompted for the credentials for account you've purchased given App with.

Due to circumstances I have three iCloud accounts, How can I amalgamate them into one iCloud account?

No, unfortunately you cannot merge accounts or transfer any purchased content from one account to another. As I said Apple won't let you do that.

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.
If you are wondering how using multiple Apple IDs relate to iCloud, see Apple IDs and iCloud.

  • How can I have one "family" Apple ID and two icloud accounts one for me and one for the wife?

MacVirgin!Just got new Air and iMac (iphones on the way). How can I have one Apple ID but two iCloud accounts (one for me and one for my wife)? I have set up one iCloud account and am attempting to share contacts between iMac, iCloud and Air, however iMac and iCloud are not in sync? I must be missing something very simple.

ok. I set up the imac and Air with one user account. this was used to activae iCloud on both machines and I have now se up one iCloud account and managed to share calander and contacts between the two. Ultimately both me and my wife will have an iphone and we wish to share calenders and contacts. We both also use the imac and air on one user account. It looks like I need to set another user account then activate iCloud in my wifes Apple ID
