You can use separate AppleIDs for iCloud, iMessage and iTunes - you just need to create unique AppleIDs for the iCloud accounts if syncing contacts that way (you will need an email address that is not already registered as an AppleID though to get another AppleID).
Apps are a different matter in that purchases are tied to the AppleID used to log in to the store to make the purchase. So you can create another AppleID for iTunes as well and use different ones on the different phones, but any apps you have already purchased with your existing AppleID are permanently tied to that AppleID.
Really, unless you are sharing apps, content and such, there is no reason to use the same AppleID on each anyway. So the simplest solution is to create new AppleID(s) for the second device. If you need an email address to do that, just get a gmail account (or hotmail, yahoo or any other free email account).

To accomplish this you need separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs. You can still share the same iTunes ID; it does not need to be the same as your iCloud ID.
To migrate your son's data to a separate account, on his phone go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (only deletes it from his phone, not from iCloud) and choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted. Then sign back in with a separate ID to create a new account, set his iCloud settings to On and choose Merge to upload his data to this new account.
You will then have to go to icloud.com and sign into each account separtely, then delete the other person's data from each account.
Getting each other's text messages is caused by sharing the same Apple ID for iMessage. To stop this, on your son's phone go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with his new iCloud ID. You should also have separate IDs for FaceTime to avoid getting each other's FaceTime calls. If you're currently sharing the same ID, on his phone go to Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, the sign back in with his new iCloud ID,

What do you mean the PC won't let you transfer the music? Save your entire iTunes folder (this is assuming that you have all your music stored in your iTunes folder) to an external hard drive. Connect that hard drive to your Mac. Copy the iTunes folder to your computer. Hold down the option key while launching iTunes on your Mac. Select the library you just copied when it ask you to select which library you want to open.

Each of you should set up your separate iCloud account on your own computer using your Apple ID. This gives you two independent iCloud accounts.
Note that an iPad is not a multi-user device. It can only be synced with one account.

If you are using Touch ID "Immedeatly" is the only option for requiring a passcode.

I also have 2 iphones (mine and my wifes), all on ONE iTunes ID and ONE iCloud ID.
I want to backup our photos only automatically to my Windowns 7 PC using Photostream & iCloud from both devices BUT I dont want her photos on my phone and vice versa.
I too would like to keep 1 iTunes account and because I dont want her photos streamed to my phone I will create separate iCloud IDs.
My question is.....
Can I set up my iClound control panel in Windows to backup photos from BOTH the iCloud IDs on the 2 phones?
I dont mind the backups going to the same folder on my PC, but I do want to keep the pics on the phones separate.

When you connect that iPad to iTUnes, go to the summary page and scroll down, there should be a box saying 'automatically update' or something to that effect. De select that.
With automatically update on, what you buy on one goes onto the other. but with that box off you can choose.
On the iPad itself, it's under
Settings
iTUnes and App Stores
and then you can choose what you want automatically updated between the two devices.

Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone.
If you have this persons email address, try sending them an email and asking them to remove their ID as described above.

What I need to know is "how" I can separate or rather create another Apple ID for my son-who is currently using "my Apple ID?" If there is a way to let him keep "all" his info on his phone (eg-contacts, music, app's, etc.) without doing a "reset?') Somehow I need to go into his phone's setting-create a new Apple ID and possibly a new password so he can still use our combined iCloud & Itunes account?
Also then letting me take back my Apple ID & password, but again allowing us (my son and I) to use the same iCloud & Itunes account? Does that make more sense??? I'm sincerely trying to get this cleared up once and for all----just need guidance from someone who has a true understanding of the whole Apple iCloud/Itunes system!

Start iTunes on your PC. If your iPhone doesn't appear under devices, connect your iPhone to the PC using the USB cable. Click on the name of your iPhone under devices. Deleting on one device does not affect another device.
You can delete the App's on the iPhone and nothing will happen to the ones on the iPad.

2. Settings->Cellular->"Use Cellular Data For" will show the data usage for each App since the last statistics reset
3. Settings->General->Background App Refresh Will show which Apps are allowed to get data in the background
4. It restricts it to Wifi. If the App requires internet access and Data is turned off, it will have to wait until the device is connected to a wifi network.
5. Nope, You just use up battery since the BT radio will continuously look for nearby BT devices.

It may be best to go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings and start over again and set up the iPod again with his account/ID
