I have 2 iphones using the same apple ID, how do I upgrade without both phones syncing the same data?
Hi, as it says above, my wife and I have an iphone each with different content on each. How do I upgrade the IOS on my wife's phone without syncing all the content on my phone?
Do I need a separate apple ID for my phone? If so, how do I set this up without losing all the data and content?
I am having the same issue.
There is no possible way Apple didn't think this the whole way thru!
Why in the world would I want to create an new Apple ID for everyone in my family & over complicate things?!? "Face Time" and "Messages" can tie several devices to on Apple ID driven by contact email or phone number. I am hard pressed to believe that Find my Friends can't be set up in a similar format.
Please help because this is frustrating me to the point of smashing an iPhone or 2!!

I have an iPhone sync'd to my iTunes. My boyfriend has his own iPhone with his iTunes account set up within it. We want to sync his iPhone to my iTunes account on the PC but we want to retain everything from both phones and the iTunes account. Is this possible? Help!

No. If you connect his phone to your iTunes account/computer, ALL iTunes content on his phone will be erased. By design, iPhone syncs or manually manages iTunes content with ONE computer at a time. -

Have 2 iPads on same apple acct. how wipe just one without affecting other?
I have 2 iPads on same apple account. How do I wipe one to give to my wife without affecting the other one. (I once deleted some bookmarks and they were deleted on both iPads.)
Hi joanfromgalax,
The resource below explains what to do before you give your iPad to your wife. Follow the steps in the order given. If you sign out of the iCloud account as instructed in step 2, then the data will not be deleted.
What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201351
Before you sell or give away your iOS device, make sure that you've removed all of your personal information. Follow these steps to protect your data and get your device to its factory default state for the new owner:
Back up your device.
Sign out of iCloud:
Tap Settings > iCloud, scroll down, and tap Sign Out. In iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account.
Tap Sign Out again, tap Delete from My iPhone, then enter your password.
Go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap Erase All Content and Settings.
This will completely erase your device, including any credit or debit cards you added for Apple Pay and any photos, contacts, music, or apps. It will also turn off iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, Game Center, and other services.
If you're using iOS 7 or later and have Find My iPhone turned on, your Apple ID and password will be required. After you provide your password, the device will be erased and removed from your account so that the next owner can activate it.
Your content won't be deleted from iCloud when you erase your device.
Contact your carrier for guidance on transferring service to the new owner. If you aren't using a SIM-card with your device, you can contact them to get help transferring service to the new owner.
When the new owner turns on the device for the first time, Setup Assistant will guide them through the setup process.
Important: Don't manually delete contacts, calendars, reminders, documents, photo streams, or any other iCloud data while signed in to your iCloud account, or the content will also be deleted from the iCloud servers and all of your devices that are signed in to iCloud.
Cheers,

My wife and i have 2 iphone 4s. Since i installed ios6 face time calls on both phones at the same time when friends try to face time me.
Also when my wife messages me her phone receives the message first in notifications barThis sounds like an Apple ID problem. Do each of you have your own Apple IDs? Are they each properly set on each phone? You might try logging out of Facetime and iMessage, then logging back in. This often fixes connectivity issues.

How do I uninstall an itunes account from an iphone? By accident we connected two phones to the same itunes account and now whenever we download both phones receive the download.

All is in the title, so I repeat it below with a better identation.
What are the pros and cons of
1) choosing to use the SAME
Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and
purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or
2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides"?
P.S.
I have loads and loads of free podcasts in iTunes in my iMac, that are certainly more thant the 5 gigas the iCloud provides for free, so I don't want those to go to the cloud. But this is perhaps a different question...
Also need to mention that I have itunes on a mac, a pc and an iphone.
Sorry to look so silly with this question, but I don't get the "big picture".You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

2 different iphones have the same Apple ID, how can I change the apple ID on one of them but not delete the other iphone's data and media?
You don't have to do anything with the first iPod that you don't use anymore. If you are planning on keeping it, put in a drawer in your house and forget about it.
You don't need a second account to use with the new iPod. I use one Appl e ID and iTunes library for two iPods, and two iPad. I have different content on all four devices. You can select exactly what you want to sync to each device and it can be different content on all devices. -

We have 3 devices used by 3 different people under the same Apple ID, how do I stop receiving my daughters texts? Both sent and received.
When you use the same Apple ID on 3 devices it means you are all using the same (email, imessaging, calendar etc). Since iCloud (MobileMe) is designed to be shared across all devices included Macs, it means all devices setup with the same ID will have access to the information.
Text messaging is relevant only to the number you are texting. This is done through your telecom companys lines and not on Apples.
If you do not want to have others be able to read any of your information then it is best you each have your own account. -
We have 2 iphone 5s sharing the same apple ID. When browsing Safari on one phone it automatically sends a link to that page to the other phone. How do we turn this off please?
@apup80
It sounds that you are running the same iCloud account with two phones. I recommend you to create a different iCloud account and you should be all set.

I have ipad & Mac,same apple ID, How I communication use FaceTime by my iPad when I'm out my home to my wife ( in home)?
I use my iPhone as a "baby monitor" to keep an eye on an elderly relative while she sleeps in one room and I'm working in another on my Mac. Setting up your two devices to FaceTime each other is simple:
Enable additional email addresses where you can be "reached" on FaceTime. Then enable the first on your Mac (disabling the second on your Mac) and the second on your iPad (disabling the first on your iPad).
On your Mac, go to FaceTime's Prefernces and look for "You can be reached by FaceTime at:" and at the bottom you'll see "Add Another Email..." Do so, then check only one email address for use on your Mac.
The process is similar on your iPad. Just be sure to check a different email address for use on your iPad. -
If my husband add a new iCloud account to his iPhone 5, will he be "locked out" because he's using a new Apple ID to do it? Does he have to use a new Apple ID to create a new iCloud account? He set up his phone using my Apple ID because we didn't know any better. Now we want to separate calendars/contacts, but are afraid of the 90-day lockout.
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can change the Apple ID without any problem. On his device, go to Settings > iCloud > Delete account and login with his Apple ID so he'll get his information. iCloud needs an Apple ID, so if he hasn't got one, he must create an Apple ID > http://appleid.apple.com
When you delete the iCloud account, all the information will be deleted, so I recommend you to turn off each service before deleting iCloud -
if i used the same apple id and email to set up both my ipad and ipod what can i do to be able to use face time to call from one device to the other
They can share an Apple ID, but each device must use a different email address when setting up FaceTime. Create a gmail email (or hotmail, or ...) address and use that on one of the devices when you setup FaceTime.
You don't actually have to use the 'new' email address, it is probably just used as an index to reference the correct device when initiating a call via the FaceTime server.
