recently cracked my i phone but i have a year warranty does this mean i would still need to pay to get it fixed ?

Yes, it does. The limited warranty doesn't cover accidental damage such as that.

  • Does a replacement handset have a years warranty or does it fall under the original?

My iPhone 5 was replaced less than a year ago, does the new handset have a years warranty or is it from the original date of purchase?

A replacement has whatever warranty was remaining on the original device or 90 days, whichever is longer. If your current iPhone is beyond both of those periods, then it's no longer in warranty. If the battery has failed, Apple will replace it. See the section on battery replacement here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/service/faq/
Of course you can always talk to the technician at the Apple Store about the situation. Whether they can do anything for you I can't say, but it costs nothing to ask.

  • I have downloaded trial for Windows English version, but can't open the Captivate_8_LS21.7z file. I have 32-bit. Will this work or shoudl I redownload?

I have downloaded trial for Windows English version 1.45GB.
It has downloaded but I can't open the Captivate_8_LS21.7z file.
    I have 32-bit. Will this work ?

    Hi There,
In order to download / install Captivate 8 32 bit, you have to download 2 files ( .7z and .exe ) at same location/ folder.
Once both files downloaded completely then you have to run .exe file and it will extract .7z file first and then it will initialize the installer. You do not have to open .7z file.
Let me provide you the download links of Captivate 8 32 bit :-
Open the link mention below in any Web Browser say Internet Explorer
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=captivate
Sign in with your Adobe id and Password, then you will be redirected to download Web Page of Captivate 8.
Do not click on Download. Kindly let that window open as it is.
Now Copy and paste the link mention below in the new tab/window of the same Web Browser in which you have opened the above link.
    http://trials3.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/CPTV/8/win32/Captivate_8_LS21.7z
    Then Save the file.
Do the same for the link mention below and save this .exe file as well.
    http://trials3.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/CPTV/8/win32/Captivate_8_LS21.exe
Make sure both the files (.7z and .exe) save/download at the same location/folder.
NOTE: Wait for both the files to finish download and then run the .exe file.
Once you run the .exe, it will start extracting the .7z file and will provide Captivate 8 folder on your desktop which will contain setup.exe. Run this setup.exe to install Captivate 8.
    Regards,
    Ajit

No, they didn't at as a matter of course and they don't now. The only plan they offer for the iPhone 4S is AppleCare+.

  • The 1 year warranty is only good for 7 d

We recently bought a Zen (20Gb) for our teenage son. The power pack (the charger that came with the Zen) expired after just a few days (perhaps 5 days of use!). However, when we took it in for repair (my wife went personally to their office here in Singapore because the telephone support system was so incomprehensible), she was told that THE -YEAR WARRANTY DID NOT APPLY to the power unit. She was told that the power-pack only had a 7-day warranty, which had of course expired.Has anyone else had problems with Creative not honoring their warranties?
Additional note: We have followed this up with Creative, who have confirmed that their warranties only apply to the main item with the serial number on it and their warranties do NOT apply to any included accessories such as power units. They describe it as "a gesture of goodwill" that they give a 7-day warranty on these items.

ianprescott wrote:Thanks for the apology. As regards using another power unit to charge the Zen ... I suspect that using anything but a genuine Creative charger will invalidate the warranty on the main unit (except for the charging that might happen via the USB port). Then I have no warranty at all!
Then even without a charger, you're in no better situation than I am. I have a Zen Micro, which, like most of the newer Micro packages here in the US and many other countries, didn't come with a charger. It usually gets charged thru the USB port, but I use a third-party charger occasionally. (The Micro can only be charged by USB; it doesn't have a standard DC-adapter plug like the Zen 20GB does.)
Creative's warranties in both the US and Singapore exclude damages for "improper use of any electrical source" (which would include misuse of third-party chargers), "undue..electrical stress", or "electrical surges"--but not just because you used a third-party charger. Due care in selecting the charger (I already told you it's 5VDC; the tip polarity is marked on the Zen 20GB) can take care of that, especially with assistance from a local shop in Singapore that primarily sells those kind of add-ons (similar to RadioShack here in the US). And if you're really worried about using the "correct" charger, you can always buy another adapter from Creative.

  • Installing windows on macbook pro without bootcamp. Will this allow for switchable graphics?

Hi everyone, I was thinking of buying a new Macbook Pro Retina 15 Inch with the discrete nvidia graphics card inbuilt with it.
I love windows and I am planning on running windows 7/8 on the macbook pro as my primary OS (because of advantages of gaming and being familarized with windows os), however I have heard the issue of running windows on bootcamp severally drains battery life as apple does not allow you to switch the nvidia graphics to the integrated graphics. Is this true? I have heard that running windows 7/8 on bootcamp allows for only around 3:30 hours of battery life, whilst OSX allows for 8+ since it uses the integrated graphics primarily when not running GPU demanding applications.
I am wondering if you can install windows 7 without bootcamp which will wipe apple OS from the laptop completely. Will this allow for the laptop to do switable graphics without problems allowing the laptop to save much needed battery life?
    Thanks in advance.
    Michael

Sorry it seems to have taken so long for you to get an answer on this question!
Your last post was mostly right... It IS a bad idea to go that route!
While it's technically POSSIBLE to get Windows in place without OSX, it's a MAJOR technical hassle and you need to jump through several hoops to get to that point.
In addition to the hassle required, having an OSX partition can be incredibly useful at times - I've had my Windows system break several times in the past where the automated (and even manual) startup-repair process failed to get Windows booting again, but a short boot into OSX later, I have the problem resolved (via OSX) and am able to get back into Windows.
Finally, you need to be aware that the graphics card situation isn't because of the presence of OSX. Just because you get rid of MacOS doesn't mean you suddenly will be able to use either graphics card! The limitation comes into play with the hardware drivers necessary to get all your hardware working in Windows - they just don't have the facility to switch graphics cards built into them.
I'm afraid you're stuck with the NVidia card when using Windows, one way or another!
Bootcamp is a prerequisite BTW. Without it you won't be able to get Windows installed at all (at least not without MAJOR stumbling block, again!), and again, the graphics card limitation isn't due to OSX or Bootcamp.
Also, battery life... Yes. You'll have significantly less in Windows, and this isn't entirely because of the graphics card situation either. MacOS is just built so well, with the limited hardware used by Apple in mind, that power-management when using OSX os significantly better! The legendary battery life of Apple systems is actually primarily due to the operating system, not the batteries themselves!
As a helpful indication: On my 2009 17" MBP I get about 7 hours on the integrated chip in OSX (8 is pusing it, but is possible sometimes); about 5 hours in OSX when using the NVidia; and about 3 and a half when I'm in Windows.
Hope this all helps you. If you have any further questions feel free!
Apologies for the scattered approach to answering your posts - it's LATE where I am and I"m kinda rushing through things... :-)

    Hi Jessica,
No, the SD slot will not work, you need an ExpressCard/34 slot.
I do not know if it works with cameras, but with two or more HDs, if the first one has two FW ports, you can "daisy chain" one or more additional HDs from it.

  • You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as administrator and then retry this installation

    Hi all
Have seen a couple threads regarding this but unfortunately nothing that solves my problem thus far!
Right now, our developers are using the Domain Admin account to promote their website code using MSI files.  I'd like to change this as I feel the Domain Admin account should be on lock down and only used when absolutely necessary, pretty common.  The
same goes for my account too, I would like to absolve as much use of the Domain Admin as I can.
Problem is, when they run installers from their own accounts, they receive this error: You do not have sufficient privileges
to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as administrator and then retry this installation
The accounts they are using are part of the Built In Administrators group and the Domain Admins group... I'm not sure what other permission you'd need in a domain?  We've gone as far as explicitly giving them local admin access on this server and still
    nothing changes.
Is there a Group Policy or something that I can change to provide install rights and possibly remove these accounts as Domain Admin and more along the line of Power User?
    Thanks much for your help!
    Ryan

    Hi,
You could use Software Restriction Policies (SRP’s) or Applocker(supported on Windows server 2008 R2/Windows 7 only) to restrict the running

  • I bought Apple care for my iphone4 in Italy to have 2 years warranty, how many will be now that Antitrust Authority said they have to be 2 for everyone?3?

In all europe everyone wants to sell something technological has to give 2 years warranty on his product. When I bought my iPhone I bought also apple care because I didn't want only one year warranty. Now that Italian antitrust said they have to be two years for everyone, also for people didn't bought applecare, how many years of warranty will I have?Thank you

I have been reading and looking around about posts like this is and this is what has been stated many many times
The two year warranty (some places upto 6 years) of consumer goods is a law that is being misrepresented by some indeividuals and companies.
It is not correct to claim that european law mandates a two year hardware warranty.
A warranty such as Apple and other manufacturers provide, is not mandated.
However what is mandated, is that the seller (not the manufacturer) offers a form of product guarantee which assumes a fault within the first six month has been present from the date of purchase.
If the seller would object to such a claim from a consumer within the first six month, the seller would have to prove his case.
IE a failure within the first 6 months is covered by the seller. The seller is then to take it up with the manufacturer.
After six month and up to 24 month after the purchase, the consumer has to prove to the seller that the claimed defect has been present or inherit in the device from the date of purchase (out of the box).
Finally - A Guarantee is not a Warranty.
Bit crappy but when people start throwing the laws around, what it basically boils down to is this, you need to speak to who you bought the product from, NOT the manufacturer, unless you bought it from them directly.
