I have 64 bit capablilty. Should my version of Premiere Pro and After Effect say "64 bit"?

I am unable to download anything else. My choices do not include a 64 bit version.

On Mac it is difficult to tell from the directory structure whether you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of an application although there is a utility which reveals this information.
However on Windows it is as simple as looking in Program Files.
On 32-bit machines you will ONLY see "Program Files" in the C: directory if you installed your adobe applications to the default location
On 64-bit machines you will see "Program Files" AND "Program Files (x86)". The latter is where all of your 32-bit applications are installed by default unless you choose a custom location which is possible for some but not all computer applications. With Adobe CS applications you CAN choose a specific target location or even a different drive partition to install your applications.

Dynamic link between Premiere pro and After effects versions?

I was wondering if it was possible to use the dynamic link between different version of the products like preimere pro cs5.5 and after effects cs5.0, I downloaded the trial of premiere cs5.5 while I already have bought and installed after effects 5.0 a while ago. when I tried using dynamic link with premiere 5.5 with my current after effects cs5, the "replace with after effects composition" in premiere was greyed out. I didnt know if this was just a limitation of the trial, or if the two different versions (PR cs5.5 with AE cs5) were incompatable with dynamic link. hope you guys understand the question, and any answers would be helpful!

Ok so just to get this straight, in order to use dynamic link between adobe premiere pro and after effects you have to have the complete suite? or just the same version installed? all I want to be able to do is have a good workflow between premiere pro to after effects to get my vfx done, and then send them back to premiere seemlesly without spending $2000 dollars on the entire suite just to use those 2 programs and because the suite is way over my budget. is that the only possible way (other than cs6, because I dont have the $$ to update either)

CS6 Premiere Pro and After Effects have stopped working :(

After installing the AdobeCS6 I removed CS4 by using the Creative Cleaner Tool. Now Premiere Pro and After Effects don't work and windows wouldn't tell me what the problemm is. The rest of the CS6 is working fine apparently. Do I have to un-install then re-install all the CS6? Is it normal that the CC Cleaner tool do this? ... Thank you!

Advice around these parts is not to remove older versions after you install a newer one, because this is exactly what can happen. If you want to get rid of an older version, do that before you install the new one.
So yes, you may well need to reinstall.

One thing to consider is that you may also want SATA capability (which you can do with G5 towers easily, the dual cores have cards available or will shortly) and also shortly (fingers cross) for the MacBooks (there are cards for PowerBooks.)
The only possible fly in the ointment is if you are going to hold onto these computers for awhile, with the Intel Chips the non-Intels will eventually have less support and software. Though for the short term (particularly if you are relying on non-Intel native apps and need peak performance) the Quad G5s are great.

Last night I saved a project I've been working on for a couple of days. It's been fine all along. Today, when I went to open it, it's no longer listed in the recently opened files on startup and i get this message:
"The project was saved in a newer version of premiere pro and cannot be opened in this version."
Except it wasn't! I use Premiere CC and it's been fine all along. I can no longer open it at all...
Any thoughts? Very frustrating!

One more item. In using PP CC2014 for the first time with this project, I have run into multiple issues making this project very frustrating. When adding a sequence to the master sequence, I have to render the audio each time in order to see all of the audio waves. You have to keep doing this over and over, even though you've already rendered a sequence already.
I am getting error messages when rendering the project saying there are issues compiling the movie. Getting same type error message if I try to export. I narrowed it down to two sequences keeping the program from rendering without the error messages. They each had a tiff file. I deleted them and they rendered. Not sure what this issue was with these particular files since I have other tiff files in the project. Once the rendering of all sequences was done, all the individual sequences were closed and the master was the only one open. I didn't close them. So now to edit any of the sequences I have to go back and open them.
The only thing this project has in it are titles created in PP, a few graphics, mostly tiff tiles and some jpeg and the dissolve effect. That's it. Seems like they should have done more with this version before putting it out there. Maybe that's why there are two separate applications for PP? Who knows. I will be uninstalling PP CC2014 when this project is complete.

But the same project that worked a few hours back on Premiere Pro CC, does not work now also on Premiere Pro CC and I received a message saying: The project was saved in a newer version of premiere pro and cannot be opened in this version." You should be able to import the xml into an earlier version.
Backward compatibility has never been there with Premiere and it is always recommended not to update in the middle of a project.

As Dave says, GPU does very little in AE, see this: GPU (CUDA, OpenGL) features in After Effects
Now, some third-party plugins (such as Red Giant Universe and Video Copilot's Element 3d) do make use of the GPU in AE, but their requirements have nothing to do with AE or its settings.
Premiere, on the other hand, does make use of a GPU, you should ask in that forum what they suggest.
Also, in the future, I would suggest checking on system requirements and benefits BEFORE making a purchase...

I recently updated my Premiere Pro CC at home to 2014.1 and now can't open my projects at school where they are using Premiere Pro CC 2014. (which was up to date last week) Since I don't know how long it will take for them to update all of the computers, (based on past experience) How can I make my project compatible between these 2014 versions?
I've tried to export the project as a Final Cut XML file, but didn't have luck with that.

There is no backward compatibility in Premiere Pro. It's not ever been a feature. The only way backward is by using XML but it sounds like you had problems with that. Please let us know your specific issue here: http://adobe.ly/ReportBug
I was speaking about forward compatibility. A number of people have had problems updating the project file with this version. While it should not cause too many issues, it is a general rule of thumb to never update your project file to a new version part way through a project.
It's rather unfortunate that this formerly hardcore stance (to not update project files until done) has been forgotten or is simply not known to many editors, both new and old. Updating a project file should never be done unless absolutely necessary. As a former instructor, I would make sure that all my students were aware of this potential project killing issue.
Backward compatibility is a long standing feature request. Make that in the same place as the bug report. Hope that helps.

Premiere Pro and 4:4:4 32-bit float

In one of the Adobe TV videos Jason Levine explains that Adobe Premiere Pro "automatically upsamples media upon import to 4:4:4 32-bit float." Can someone please explain the technical meaning of the 4:4:4 and the 32-bit part and how this effects how we work with video in Premiere Pro in a little more detail?

4444 is simply RGBA (red, green, blue and alpha) or as Adobe calls it BGRA with 8 bits per channel, thus the 32 bit format. The practical effect is that with certain effects, like chroma keying or CC the loss is minimal. However, this only applies to certain types of video like RED 4K or EPIC 5K. MXF material for instance is still handled as YUV 422.
Some plug-ins like DissolveMaster also upsample to BGRA 4444 to avoid losses and do it even with YUV 420 or YUV 422 material.

I have the OS X Lion version 10.7.5 and after a new hard drive I have lost iPhoto, iMovie, Garage Band etc. I have tried the re-install of the OS X Lion and checking the app store under 'purchases' but none of these options were successful.
When I click on iPhoto in the App Store, it says that it cannot update because version 10.9 is required (I tried to transfer iPhoto from my brothers computer but he has a newer laptop which means I cant open it whcih is why it says 'update' but have deleted it now). When I go to iMovie on the App Store, it says I need to pay but the only reason I dont want to do that is that it origionally came on the computer and after paying Apple to install a new hard drive I dont want to have to pay for all the apps that origionally come on it.
Can someone please help

Then you will need the Original System Reinstall DVD discs that came with the system to reinstall the iLife suite of apps then you can update them from the Mac app store or through Software Update.
Those discs came in the box the computer came in. Hopefully you still have the box and those discs.

That is Pages for iPad v2.0, which Pages '09 v4.3 can't read.
You need to either stick with the older version of Pages on the iPad or get Pages 5 for the Mac which is only available if you are running OSX 10.9 Mavericks.
Unfortunately that is not the end of your woes because Apple has made iCloud convert the files to Pages 5 now, and Pages 5 has over 90 features deleted on top of doing a shocking job of converting older Pages files.

Upgrading from iPhoto 8 to iPhoto 9 requires a purchase. There are two ways to get to iPhoto 9:
1 - purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com or eBay.com.
2 - if your MBP meets the requirements upgrade you system for free to Mavericks. Then you can purchase the latest iPhoto version, 9.5.1, from the App Store.
