Hello Teddy53149 and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
Follow this procedure:

My brother and I have been using the same iTunes account. We now want to have our own separate accounts. Can we still keep the apps we have on our own devices?

Your question is almost too much a personal one, begging the question "do we (husband and wife) feel comfy sharing one account on the Mac"   maybe thats why nobody answered you.
It doesnt complicate anything, but it adds steps for switching accounts on the Mac/ purchases etc. of course
since your question is mostly personal, ..I wont answer THAT part of it, but creating a new account is easy.....messing with switching back and forth is also a personal preference 'issue' as well.   I prefer to keep things simple, but...........you and yours,  I dont know.......

  • I want to change from Outlook to Thunderbird without losing data or email files - how can I do this?

I bought a Dell Inspiron in February when my old computer (with XP Pro and Outlook 2007) crashed. Now I have Windows 7 with Outlook 2013, which is proving to be a disaster. A colleague recommended I go to Thunderbird and forget all about Outlook. I have quite a number of files and emails in my Outlook folders and don't want to lose them if I make the switch. How can I achieve this?
Also, my wife uses Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 on her lap top. Our email addresses are very similar: [email protected] and [email protected] , which may explain some of the problems we've been having: And we use the same password, as we have always done. If Coralie stays with Outlook and I come over to Thunderbird would there be a compatibility problem? I am not too savvy with IT stuff and my wife even less so, so your help IN SIMPLE terms would be appreciated. Thanks and regards, Sylvan Bonett

Your email accounts are separate and distinct so there is no issue with any apparent similarity (unless you have done something out of the ordinary such as setting one up as an alias for the other.)
Transferring messages between email programs is rarely straightforward since there are no agreed standards for interchange of email content.
However as you're both using gmail, then you may not have a problem. If the account uses IMAP, the messages and the folders they are in are actually stored on the server, so which client (Outlook, Thunderbird or something else) you use is largely irrelevant.
If you are not currently using IMAP, then you could set up the account again, using IMAP and alongside the existing account, and simply move messages from the old to the new. This will have the effect of moving them back to the server, so they will be available to you in Thunderbird or any other email client.
I'd simply set up the account in Thunderbird, using IMAP, and see what I can see. If the messages are all there, job done. If not, set up the account in Outlook but using IMAP, and move the messages.

  • I use Firefox to access AOL e mail, I want to delete a username where I sign in for AOL mail. How do I do this?

One day I went on Firefox to go to AOL, once on AOL I went to sign in to get my e mail. By mistake I typed my password in the space for Username. I erased it but ever since that day, when I click on the username space, among the offered usernames, from the drop down menu, is my pass word and I want to delete it so it never appears on that drop down menu of usernames. Thanks.
    JEFF

Thanks, Mandel. The undesired username is not stored in AOL. For instance if I would use Safari to access AOL e mail, the undesirable username '''''does not''''' appear. It only appears when I'm using Firefox to access AOL and then sign in for my AOL e mail and click on the username space. This bad username is there because one day I typed it in by mistake and Firefox for some reason remembers it whenever I sign on. Thanks for any further info. JEFF

Game Center is installed in the 3GS firmware. You may need to just Update to the current 3GS firmware in iTunes for it to be automatically installed.

  • Upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?

upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?

    Greetings,
    Questions:
    1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
    3. Do you backup your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427)?
--- If you don't regularly backup your computer, now is the time to start.
    4. Do you backup your iPhone (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766)?
Check the calendar list on the left hand side of iCal.  Is it that the individual events are duplicated or is it just that you have the same calendar listed more than once?  If its that you have more than 1 copy of each calendar, you can delete one of the duplicate calendars to eliminate the duplicates.
If you find that it is the individual events that are duplicated then there are 2 options:
    1. Restore your computer iCal database or iPhone from a backup made before the duplication occurred.
    2. Use a duplication removal program (or do it by hand) to remove the duplicates: http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icaldupedeleter/
If you have a backup made before the duplication occurred, reply back with what kind of backup you have and I'll suggest how to recover the calendars.
To avoid this issue in the future:
Keep regular backups.  They are your best defense against data anomalies which are a fact of life in computers (although hopefully rare).
Keep your computer and iPhone software fully up to date (Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update).
Make sure the date and time on your computer and iPhone are correct before you sync the two devices.
Make sure the cable connections between the two is solid and that the cable shows no signs of physical damage.
    Hope that information helps.

  • My MacBook Pro hard drive is almost full and I wish to store my Aperture Library on an external drive, how do I do this and is the use of USB2 suitable or do I need to use a Firewire external hard drive?

My MacBook Pro hard drive is almost full and I wish to store my Aperture Library on an external drive, how do I do this and is the use of USB2 suitable or do I need to use a Firewire external hard drive?

You'll get better performance if you use a Firewire hard drive (especially if you buy a 7200 RPM drive). Firewire's IO speed is significantly faster than USB 2.  USB 2 has a theoretical max speed of 480 Mbps except that it has extremely high over-head.   The fastest speeds you can typically get are about 300 Mbps.   Firewire, on the other hand, has very little overhead.  The fastest speeds you can get are very nearly 800 Mbps.  You will typically be constrained by the maximum read/write speed of the drive, not the speed of the I/O on the Firewire bus.  Now if you had one of those nice shiny new Macs with the Thunderbolt I/O and a Thunderbolt drive (Light Peak) ... I think they alter space and time so that your data arrives before you know you want it.
Also... unless you want to buy a solid state drive (very expensive), try to keep your hard drives from becoming much more than about 60% full if you want great performance.  A nearly "full" hard drive is, on average, only about half as fast as the same hard drive when nearly empty.
USB 2 will work perfectly fine... just not as fast.
Also... it's much safer to move the entire Aperture library than to "relocate masters".  Your images must be managed.  You can Aperture manage them, or you can manage them.  But someone has to manage them.  If you "relocate" them so that they are no longer stored inside the Aperture library then you'll need to work out a system of how you decide to organize things and it's critically important that you don't start moving files around or deleting things without Aperture's knowledge.  If you do, you'll break the links to your masters and start having problems with missing masters.  If you have Aperture manage the library then you don't need to worry about any of that stuff.... it's safer.
Do make backups (use the Aperture Vault or use some other backup program, but make sure you back up your work if you care about it.)  There are only two kinds of hard drives in the world:  (1) those that have failed and (2) those that are going to fail.  There are no exceptions to this rule.  Hard drives are cheap.  Backup software is built into Aperture and into your Mac.

  • HT1766 Hi, I share an iTunes account with my wife. Sometimes she gets my iMessages and I don't and vice versa. Also if people face time me it goes to her phone. How can I stop this from happening?

Hi, I share an iTunes account with my wife. Sometimes she gets my iMessages and I don't and vice versa. Also if people face time me it goes to her phone. How can I stop this from happening?

You can share the same Apple ID in
Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID: here
But for all other Apple services like:
FaceTime, iMessage, iCloud, etc, one of you should use a different Apple ID.

You sync music the same way as on the Classic. What you sync to an iPod does not effect the iTunes library on your computer.

    Hello dancetoday07,
Let's see if we can square this away for you. With backing up your iPhone, it will back everything you have using iTunes and if you use iCloud, by default, backs up everything. After you have made a backup you can restore that to put the contents of the backup on your replacement iPhone. If you want to put certain things back on, you will at least need to export the content to your computer, like your photos and videos. If you only want to put certain things back on, then you will need to sync that over with iTunes. All the information you will need are in the articles below.

I just purchased an extreme.  I have an express.  The sales guy recommended setting up a hot spot with the express and use the extreme as a base station.  What does he mean and how do I do this?  What are the advantages?  How do I set this up?????

I think he means to set up the main extreme as the main router or "main base station", and then use the express to "extend" the network.
You can look up the manual for your express here for more details:
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/
Extend the range of your network by adding AirPort Express to your existing AirPortExtreme or AirPort Express wireless network (this is called a Wireless DistributionSystem, or WDS). "
Extending the Range of an Existing AirPort Extreme or
    AirPort Express Network
You can extend the range of an existing AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express wirelessnetwork by setting it up in a WDS. Wireless computers can connect to the network andshare the Internet connection, share files, and play network games. If you connect yourAirPort Express to your home stereo, computers on your wireless network can useAirTunes to play music on the stereo from iTunes. If you connect a USB printer to yourAirPort Express, all of the computers on the network can print to it.
n Open the AirPort Setup Assistant on a Macintosh, or the AirPort Express Assistant on acomputer using Windows XP. Follow the onscreen instructions to extend the range ofyour AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express network.
Note: Extending the range of a network using WDS may reduce overall networkperformance.
