How can I plump up my 2008 MacBook white?!

Hello clever people. I sold my fancy MacBook Pro to go travelling so have now reverted to my trusty 2008 MacBook White and have updated to OSX 10.7.5.
I would like to know how I can beef up my performance - I know I can upgrade my memory but I want to do as much as possible so any tips from anyone who has done the same would be great!
Specs are:
2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
150 GB HD
Can I update my RAM and my Hard Drive? How about the processor?

You can upgrade Ram (6GB max) and the HDD, not the processor.
Biggest performance will come from fitting an SSD instead of an HDD, plus Ram.
Go to OWC and check your options.

Yes, any 2.5" dia SATA HDD will be compatible. The largest are 2 TB at the present time> Here is a selection from OWC:

There are other vendors as well.
You will need a #00 Phillips and a #6 Torx drivers to install the HDD.

Remember security on a TC is an illusion.
Simply press the reset button for 1-2 sec.. you must not do too long .. it will then hard reset.. but soft reset will revert all passwords to default for 5min. ie TC password is now public.
Remember this the next time because anybody at all can change your passwords.
Once into the TC you can then open the view passwords if you wanted any weaker security. Click and open the TC.. and click on edit.. then go to the top menu..
Voila .. all your passwords in plain sight to any Tom Dick and Fred.

Photoshop is one of the most pirated software out there and in cases loaded with malware.

New Corsair ram issues - 2008 Macbook (white) 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Just after having a successful (though after some help from the forum) install of 8GB into my mid 2009 MBP I helped my brother install a 4GB (2x2GB) memory upgrade from OEM 2GB (2x1GB) into his 2008 macbook (white) 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo system. Checked and made sure I got the right memory speed and capacity for the 2008 macbook. Here's the memory I recieved http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011UPBMA/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
So since installing even though the system seems to read the memory correctly showing in system profiler that 4GB is recognized and the status reads "OK" the system is crashing

Hmmm I'm not quite sure if I'm ready to conclude that it's not compatible. I mean vendor of ram shouldn't be why it's not working as I just got done installing Corsair ram into my mid 2009 MBP and although had trouble initially was able to figure out (with the help of this forum and a very helpful member: Kappy) that I had an incompatible (for OSX) kext installed on my sytem. The Corsair ram on my MBP is running great now.
Wish I knew how to read the panic report. Anything pointing to something else that may be incompatible or anything pointing specifically to the memory.
I'm not trying to ignore your advice as I'm very appreciative of it, it's just that I was pretty certain that the ram purchased should be compatible as I checked all specifications and noticed the reviews pointing to compatibility.
