After many days of frustration, I try a stupid thing.... Put the SD card in the Lock Position and... Voilá!
The way I find to access the content is put the SD card in the Lock position..

Problem with opening new tabs, when I right-click on a link and open in new tab it doesn't automatically load up like firefox 3.6 always did. Is there anyway to fix this?

for example there's a link a friend sent me in my e-mail and I right-click on it, and select "Open in a new tab" it pops open like normal, except it does not load the page, I have to click the box and press enter to even get it to load it. settings - facetime - remove the apple id, on your husband phone.
He should create his own id for imessage and facetime.

If I understand correctly you are going to Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars > Add Account but that last option is not usable because it is gray. In testing this for you, I was able to reproduce this by enabling Restrictions and denying Account Changes. You can configure that with this article:

Also, when I tried to Restore the settings, an Error Message pops up that says " The iPhone software update server could not be contacted. The requested resource was not found.
I'm trying to free up space on my phone by removing [literally] thousands of old photos which were originally synched to the phone, because I had forgotten to uncheck the photos button when I synched it ages ago.
I have also tried synching it on my 24" iMac (running OSX Snow Leopard). But again, when I try restoring the phone through itunes, it says the file is corrupted. It sggests unplugging the device, and then plugging it in again. I have done this numerous times with no success.
I'm guessing it must be because my phone (and versions of iTunes, and OSX) are all too old.
Please can anybody help.

I do not know if it's relevant or not, but I got a message on my ipad while on safari saying that my iPhone has a virus. I looked it up and it seems it might have just been an ad from the website I was on, but it happened around the same time YouTube stopped working.

You will find that using the YouTube app will provide a better viewing experience for YouTube videos.

As Shootist pointed out, the system uses more power.
However, initially it will reindex the hard drive for spotlight, which will slow things down temporarily.
It also must rebuild caches that eventually will speed things up.
If it has completed indexing the hard drive (no dot pulsing in the spyglass), then there might be something wrong.
Start by booting into the Recovery HD (a partition created with Lion that has Disk Utility and reinstallation options) by holding down cmd-r when you restart. You can let go when the gray screen appears.
When it boots, select Disk Utility and Repair the drive.
If that doesn't speed things up, try re-installing the OS from the same Recovery HD. It won't delete any of your files, but it has helped some people whose Macs ran slow after installing Lion.
Also, how much memory do you have? Lion needs RAM so maxing your Mac out might also help.

It's hard to say why your machine is slow, but that machine with 8 GB of RAM should not be slow. Could be any number of possible problems. Try taking a look at the Mac OS X Speed FAQ.

Depending on the extent of the damage (and if you're sure that's all it is) then Canon service likely can pop on a new part.
BUT... parts don't necessarily break down to the component level you and I might imagine. I've heard of people needing a new "dial" on the camera and what they have to get is a whole new top-assembly (not just the one little bit that they need.)
The only way to know is for you to contact Canon service. I'm not sure if you can get a price quote over the phone. You may have to send it in. The only way to know is to call.

How did you try to use Acitivty Monitor?
Open Activity Monitor, choose "All processes" from the list, and sort processes by CPU usage. More likely than not, there will be task using up good bit of CPU.
