I have a 25" Apple Cinema Display and Macbook Pro. Want to use iSight camera on ACD.

When I use Skype or Google+ Hangout, I'm not able to use the built-in camera on the ACD. Is there a preference to switch camera from Macbook Pro to ACD?

I don't know about Google+ but in Skype's Preferences, there's an Audio/Video tab and within that window there's a popup menu for the camera.  Does that allow you to select the ACD?

  • Apple Aluminum Keyboard and 23" cinema Display and MacBook Pro??

    Hello there
I have just purchased an Apple Aluminum Keyboard and have and MacBook Pro with and 23" cinema display, and if i try to connect the keyboard to my cinema display via USB the keyboard don't work.
i have an Apple mighty mouse that works fine wen connected to the USB port on the display...
    why is it not working...

have you tried a different USB port on the ACD? Maybe the one you used was defective? I run a 7-port bus off one of the USB ports for all my hardware. OTOH, I do use bluetooth mouse and keyboard!

  • Cinema Display and MacBook Pro - Power Button won't work

I have been using a 20" Apple Cinema Display (plastic model) with a 17" Powerbook and never had a problem. Recently I acquired a 15" MacBook Pro and it's like the power button on the display has no use at all. The only way to turn on the computer is opening the computer lid, turning it on and then closing it. The display also won't shutdown the computer, although the power button light reacts to the touch. The funny thing is that the display settings button work fine. Does anyone has a clue?

Malcolm, thank you for the answer! But I still don't understand why my new MacBook Pro, having exactly the same connector as my older Powerbook had, won't behave the same way? I'm still using the same DVI to ADC adapter, I'm wondering if the new Macbooks maybe have some PIN assignment disabled on its DVI connector. And anyway, shouldn't the power button be able to at least shut down the computer, as long as pressing it would just open the shut down dialog box?

  • 23" Apple Cinema Display & 15" MacBook Pro?

    1) Any ideas on how to crank up the res on a MacBook Pro for external mirroring?
A manager at my company ordered a 15" MacBook Pro & a 23" Apple Cinema Display for the purpose of Mirroring.
When spanning, the laptop and the display look great (and both run in their native modes of 1920 x 1200 and 1440 by 900, respectively), but when mirroring is enabled, the MacBook video card acts like it can't power the 23" LCD properly. It wants to default both the 15" built-in display and the Cinema display at 1440 by 900 - which is unacceptable.
    2) Is it possible to close a MacBook Pro's lid and continue to power the external monitor without the MacBook sleeping?
    3) Is it possible to toggle the MacBook Pro's video signal to turn OFF the built-in laptop display and ONLY run on the external display? I remember older PowerBooks being able to do this. Many PC laptops will allow you to disable the local video and only send a signal to the external display (for presentations etc).

    1) Any ideas on how to crank up the res on a MacBook Pro for external mirroring?
Mirroring is pixel to pixel. The MacBook only has 1440 by 900, so that's all it can show on the external display when mirroring.
    2) Is it possible to close a MacBook Pro's lid and continue to power the external monitor without the MacBook sleeping?
Attach the power adapter and an external keyboard and mouse (bluetooth is OK if it's set to wake the computer). When you close the lid, the computer will sleep, but will wake (and continue to run with the lid closed) when you use the external mouse or keyboard.
    3) Is it possible to toggle the MacBook Pro's video signal to turn OFF the built-in laptop display and ONLY run on the external display?
Not with the lid open, but if not mirrored, you can move the menu bar to the external display by following the instructions in the "Arrangement" tab of "Displays" system preference.

  • Connecting a 20" Cinema Display and MacBook Pro 4,1

I admit I bought a cinema display from a co-worker because I thought it'd be nice to have a larger screen to attach to my MacBook pro 4,1. However, the monitor has a flat connector that doesn't seem to fit anywhere on my laptop. Is there some sort of adapter I can get? I've seen similar questions posted, but none with my exact specs.
Or, should I just sell the monitor back to him or someone else?

It says: Model Name: MacBook Pro
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Maybe I'm a total dork. on the right side, I see, back to front: a monitor adaptor (which i use at work to plug in a Dell), an Ethernet port, a square-ish port with a firewire symbol, another firewire (with the 'dog-eared' edge), a USB, and then a tiny tiny rounded little hole that doesn't appear to go to anything. On the other side, I have the magnetic power cord, another USB, and two small round holes - one for DVI?, one for headphones.
This is where I get a little confused. The Cinema Display looks like the one in the bottom right of this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini_DisplayPort, and the little round port on the left of my laptop has the same symbol, but is the size of the headphone port.
Do I need some adapter from the squareish one to the little round one?

  • Weird color tint w/Cinema Display and MacBook Pro

I just purchased a new MBP a few days ago and have it connected to my 20" Cinema Display. Here's what I'm doing to get the display ONLY on the Cinema Display:
    1.)Start MBP with display connected
2.)Put MBP to sleep and close the lid
3.)Wake the MBP with the attached keyboard or mouse
This then turns off the MBP's display and the picture appears on the Cinema Display. However, when the image is first displayed on the Cinema Display, it has this very strange brownish/orange tint to it for about 2-3 seconds. It then changes back to the correct color.
Is this normal? If so, why does it do this? Anyone else's Cinema Display<-->MBP combo do this?
    Thanks!

Run /Utilities/ColorSynch Utility and 'Repair Profiles' ?

  • Sound Switches Between Thunderbolt Display and MacBook Pro

I have an Apple Thunderbolt display and MacBook Pro set-up with dual screens. I have an iPhone plugged into a dock that runs to the display. When I have music playing out of the display and I disconnect my iPhone, it switches the sound to the MacBook Pro.
    1. How do I stop this from happening?
    2. If I can't stop it from happening, how do I move the sound from the MacBook Pro back to the display?
There doesn't seem to be any options within Preferences/Sound to change it back.
    Thank you.

I've a Spyder4Elite that I use on both my Thunderbolt Display and on my MBP - and, while both are calibrated, they don't - and cannot - 'match' one another, no matter how hard I try.
I suspect that you're running up against the same wall? Different technologies in different displays. I doubt that you'll ever get a perfect match: mine are just 'good enough'.

  • Help!  Strange Problem with 23" Apple Cinema Display and Wireless Internet

For some reason, Safari runs much much slower on my housemates new 23" Apple Cinema Display than just on his new Macbook. He is running Tiger. We use Airport Extreme for house-wide wireless, and he has an Airport Express to connect to his printer. Here is what he wrote:
"Last night, I was watching videos on ABC.com --- not a problem to watch on my laptop screen (new Macbook) - very fast. Then, after dinner, I plugged in my external screen (Apple Cinema Display), and it was so slow and wouldn't load. I unplugged the screen, and it was lighting fast again, so I watched the videos on my laptop screen. This morning, I was plugged into the external monitor and the Internet was slow to check my email. I unplugged the screen, and it's lightning fast now on my laptop screen.
Does this make any sense??? Why would my external monitor affect the Internet speed? "

I am having a similar problem as well. When I attach my 23" cinema display to my MacBook core 2 duo, my connection to the internet immediately stops working. I have tested this several times and it happens every time I connect the Cinema Display to my MacBook. When I disconnect the Cinema Display, my internet connection works perfectly again. I'm stumped as to why this happens.
I have tried several different searches on the forums, but have found no other threads besides this one. I'm I won't have to suck it up and pay the $50 for the call to AppleCare support.

Exactly where are you getting your Flash from? It is quite free from the maker, no password needed.

However, if you fell for a trap and were lured into a fake site to rob you of your Apple ID credentials, I suggest you change your passwords immediately.

  • 27" Cinema Display & 17" Macbook Pro not calibrating correctly

I've had my 17" macbook pro hooked up to a 27" viewsonic LCD monitor for about a year.  The colors have never been right, as many times that I tried calabrating them through the built in Apple calabration system, or if I use my X-rite I1Disply 2.  Today, I bit the bullet and bought the 27" Apple Cinema Display and nothing changed, the colors are still off.  The monitor looks slightly warmer than the laptop. I'm a wedding photographer, so it can be frustrating not being able to use the bigger monitor to edit.  Thanks in advance for you help...

Would changing the contrast help?  I don't know, I'm just asking, because there is a contrast control in the Universal Access preferences Seeing tab.

Open Media Encoder and add your Sequences:
File > Add Premiere Pro Sequence
Navigate to your Premiere Project and select it in the list.
You can then select multiple Sequences from the Project (Ctrl+Click)
and load them all at once into Media Encoder and apply
the same encoding preset to all Sequences at the same time.

  • How can I run a 27" Apple Cinema Display and another monitor from my MacBook Pro?

    Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a brand new 15"  MacBook Pro to replace my old one. I was told when ordering it that I would be able to hook up two external monitors to it using the Matrox DualHead2Go hardware. So, I also bought a 27" Cinema Display (non-Thunderbolt since it wouldn't work with the DH2Go). However, when I contacted Matrox they said their products don't support screens as large as the 27" ACD.
    Bummer!
So, my question is: does anyone know how I can hookup a 27" Apple Cinema Display at 2560x1440 and a Acer 22" monitor at 1685x1050 (or, anything less really) to my new MacBook Pro?
I've looked around and haven't been able to find a good answer.
    Thanks for your help!

Will something like this work? A USB to VGA adapter? Can I use this at the same time that I have a Cinema Display plugged into the Mini-DVI port and will they both work at the same time? Anyone know?

  • Wi-fi not working with Apple Cinema Display and Bluetooth-peripheral

    Hello everyone.
I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), with OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. My problem is that when I use my macbook in closed-clamshell mode, the wi-fi connection becomes very slow and it regularly drops.
My external display is a Apple Cinema Display, 22-inch, model M8149. My mouse is the Apple Magic Mouse and my keyboard is the Apple Wireless Keyboard.
Thanks in advance for helping me.

    Good day Brett,
I followed the suggested steps and for Wireless Diagnostics is all ok, but my connectivity problems are not solved.
I have made two report of the analysis. The first in "normal" mode is downloadable here. The second in closed-clamshell mode is downloadable here.
Could you tell me what is going on?
    Thank you a lot

  • 23" Apple Cinema Display and accurate color?

I use a dual 2.3GHz Power Mac G5 along with a 23" Apple Cinema Display fro graphic design work. I used to use a Pantone Color calibration device when I was using third-party monitors with my Macs. Now that I have the Cinema Display, I haven't bothered to calibrate this wonderful monitor. I had heard that using Apple's displays with their own computers would display the most accurate color possible without calibration. I haven't changed the color settings in my Adobe products, and I'm not seeing any significant issues with my color outputs. Any advice on this subject is appreciated.

If the display uses the Apple Display Connector (ADC)
    <http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/09/AppleDisplayConnector.j pg/800px-AppleDisplayConnector.jpg>
you will need a DVI to ADC adapter.

They are also available on eBay.
