I have a 32gb ipod touch 3rd gen which says activation required, what does this mean?

It started to display this after getting wet and now will not sync or turn on properly and the screen is unresponsive. Is it dead or can it be fixed?

Sorry to hear that.

Try plugging your iPod into your computer then launch iTunes.

  • When trying to connect to my Internet indoors my iPad and iPod says authentication required, what does this mean

Can someone help my iPad and iPod keep saying authentication required, what do I do can to connect to Internet indoors

That means the wifi node you are trying to connect to is password protected for an encrypted wifi connection.  You need to know the network password to log on to those wifi networks.
If this is your own wifi network, then it is the same password you use to connect every other wifi device in the same home.  If you did not set up the network, you need to ask whomever did for the connection password.

  • I have had an iPod Touch 3rd Gen for two years and the apps have worked fine in the past. Suddenly the apps will not launch, they appear to start then just exit. Is there a reason why it is doing this?

I have had an iPod Touch 3rd Gen for two years pretty much and the apps have worked fine. Suddenly when I go on an app it appears to launch then just exits. I tried turning the iPod off and on again, but that made all my apps behave like that. Settings and those things work fine still. Should this suddenly happen? I dont want to lose all 204 apps.

    - First try resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next try downloading/installing a new app
    - Restore from backup
    - Last, resore to factory defaults/new iPod.  this is last result since you will lose app data.

  • TS1372 I am trying to restore my ipod, and get a message: "could not restore ipod because it could not be unmounted."  What does this mean? And what do I do about it?

It sounds like your PC or Mac's internal HD is full. You need to delete some data or move it to an external hard drive or storage device of some sort before you'll be able to successfully complete the restore.

  • Images have ? symbol on the top right corner of the thumbnail  what does this mean and how do I remove it?

    Q - My images have a
? symbol on the top right corner of the thumbnail what does this mean and how do I remove it?
    A - The
? symbol is used to identify a file that Lightroom can no longer access; probably because it has been moved using OS drag/drop or Move command rather than Lightroom.
    Click the
? symbol will cause a small dialog will appear. This dialog will provide information as to where the file was originally located along with an option to find (Locate) it again.
As you'll quickly realise, clicking the
? symbol is fine for finding individual files that may have been relocated, but not for large numbers. There must be a better way
Look at the Folder panel (left side of Library module) and you should find that the folder/subfolder containing the files that Lightroom can no longer find are shown in Red text. It is the red text that Lightroom uses to help you identify a folder/subfolder that contains files that it has lost track off.
    On the Mac you should
Ctrl-click (right-click when using two button mouse) the folder/subfolder, a pop-up menu will appear. From the pop-up menu choose the command
Locate Missing Folder, a dialog should appear. The dialog gives you access to every hard disk connected to your computer or CD/DVDs if they're in the tray. Use this dialog to navigate to the location where the folder is now located, then select this folder (not the files). Finally, press the
Choose button and allow Lightroom to do its stuff.
The method described above also applies to the PC version although the dialog is called
    Browse for Folder and the
    Choose button is replaced by
    OK.
You can avoid getting into a situation were Lightroom looses track of your folders/subfolders by using a variation of above.

  • I have a cirlce with a line through it at startup.  What does this mean?

I have a circle with a line through it at boot up.  What does this mean?

It means that there is no bootable disk found.  This
could be either a totally corrupted disk or a hardware
    failure.
If you were running OSX 10.7 or 10.8, you could try booting
into the Recovery HD by holding down Command+R at boot
or holding down the Option key and select the Recovery HD
    to boot from.
If doing this also fails, then you likely have a hard disk failure
or perhaps some other hardware issue.

  • For updating Silverlight in Windows, the System Requirements say I must have "X86 or x64 (64-bit mode support for IE only)"; what does this mean?

I have a 5-year-old laptop, given to me by someone else as a gift, that uses: a 32-bit operating system, Windows 7 (with Service Pack 1), and Internet Explorer 8. A system message told me I need to upgrade Adobe and Silverlight. I accomplished the Adobe upgrade without problem. For the Silverlight upgrade, the instructions say to first uninstall the existing Silverlight software before installing the updated software. However, in the System Requirements, for Windows, it says the phrase that I quoted in the "Question" box above. I am not sure what it means. I am confused by the words "for IE only"; I'm assuming IE means Internet Explorer, but I don't know what this short phrase is trying to say. Is the "bottom line" that my 32-bit operating system is insufficient to receive the Silverlight upgrade, or is it enough? I need to know. I don't want to uninstall my existing Silverlight software yet, because of the possibility that I can't install the new software; I don't know what adverse effect would occur if my laptop doesn't have any Silverlight working on it at all. So I'd appreciate being filled in on this. Thanks!

Your computer can run silverlight just fine. They are just saying that Silverlight is a 32bit application, except for Internet Explorer, where it can run as 64bit. It doesn't make any difference for you, so just go ahead and install it.

  • HT1320 Ipod Touch 3rd Gen Error

My ipod touch 3rd gen has an "activation required" error and the slider won`t work, what should I do?

For what it is worth I have excellent success with WEP encryption as follows:
For 40/64 Bit Encryption use a 10 digit manual hex key
For 104/128 Bit Encryption use a 30 digit manual hex key
Don't use the key generator function in your router. Simply put a manual entry into Key Field 1. Set Authentication Type to Automatic. If you have computer devices make sure to uncheck the section in networking that states "key is automatically provided for me" and put it in manually.
This procesure bas been bulletproof for me, and a 30 character hex key on 128 Bit WEP is plenty secure.
