I have a 3rd generation ipod that will not connect. I keep getting an error message that says "USB Device Not Recognized". I have tried 3 seperate cables and none of them are working. Please help!
It keeps telling me that one of the USB devices for this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. I have tried all of the ports and still am not having any luck. I have purchased 3 brand new cables and none of them are working. I have tried to update the driver but it says I am using the most up to date. I have tried to reset the Ipod by holding the center button and menu button until the apple appears. I am not sure what else to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My computer is Windows Vista!

Have you tried uninstalling the driver for your iPod from within Device Manager? After uninstalling it, go ahead and unplug your iPod and plug it back in. Doing so should cause your system to locate the proper driver for it.

Sometimes you have to reset the SMC two or three times for it to work, don't know why. I've seen that error message before and 100% of the time it was fixed with an SMC reset. I suppose it's possible that your keyboard or mouse IS drawing too much power, do you have access to another you could try?

Sounds like the dock port on your iPhone has a problem. It is in warranty so you will need to get it serviced.

Initially iTunes would not run although it had been running quite well up until now. Suddenly received this error on PC start-up "The program can't start because MSVC80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." Research on Net pointed me to iTunes as the issue. Tried to start iTunes and received that message again. Tried installing latest version of 64-bit iTunes and received the subject message part way through the install: Trying to install latest iTunes for Windows 7 64-bit. Keep getting this error message "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
iTunes has been running great on this PC for years. What's up?

About 3 hours ago I downloaded some stuff off itunes. However in the last hour I cant seem to sign in or buy anything off itunes and I keep getting an error message that says that the network connection timed out and I should check the connection and try again. my 3rd generation will not connect to itunes when i plug it up to the computer by USB. i have tried to do it with itunes open and closed. it wont recognize it but it is recognizes in the my computer screen. it even makes a jingle when plugged up. on my ipod i can download music wirelessly from my itunes. other than this issue my ipod works just fine. what should i do?

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Before you reinstall the Apple software, also remove iCloud vi Control Panel Remove programs. The reinstall the Apple programs

I have a 3rd gen 8gb ipod touch when I try to sync it it goes through phase one of the sync and then says sync complete, changing nothing on the ipod
if I reset my Ipod and it wipes everything off and then it still wont sync I will have a worthlerss ipod no tune or apps on itI have checked for latest updates but there are none i had the errors wrong they are actually:
"Attempting to copy to the disc "iPod touch" failed. An error occurred while writing to the device."
"iTunes could not copy "song name" to the iPod "iPod name" because an unknown error occurred (-20)."
the strange thing is i am allowed to take things off because i had some voice recordings and they got transferred into iTunes but its just copying onto the device that is the problem i also checked my Anti-Virus software and it hasn't blocked iTunes or anything associated with Apple. i will also check my computer's manufacturing website for updates. -

DURIM - Okay. I would expect the "Cache Warning" message because your default directories would not be the same as the ones in the settings file I generated.
If you go back to the "7.0" directory and open the "Logs" folder, can you copy the "Audition Log.txt" file and send it as an attachment to [email protected]? We'll take a look in that logfile and see if it gives us more information about why this is failing now.
Also, do you have any other Adobe applications installed on this machine, such as Premiere Pro? If so, do they launch as expected or fail as well?
I do have the trial Pro version of Adobe reader, but I have not activated it, because I fear the same thing will happen did it. I cannot afford to activate the subscription for that product and take the chance of it not working either. I depend on those two programs religiously. Here is the files that you requested. Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

i have the ipod touch 4th generation and the screen is white, i was going to charge it and it turned white. I have tried to reset it but the apple logo will not show up and it will not turn on! i just got it for christmas... can you please help?
The way I did it was I got the free app sync:stream from the App Store and then added my ipod to my ps3's Bluetooth devices. Then went to audio settings and set output and input to 'Skaggs iPod' you then open the app and it will be listed under music as a media service. You then go to all tracks and click copy (press triangle) it will then begin to copy all of your songs onto your ps3 via Bluetooth. I haven't tried but I assume the same can be done with photos. 3rd gen iPod Nano will not sync with latest version of iTunes on new laptop. It passes the connectivity test but not the sync test under diagnostics. Worked fine on old Windows 7 laptop but not new one. From Control Panel it shows up as an Apple iPod USB Device...
Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok.
