I have a 4th Gen 32gb Ipod touch. Yesterday I updated my ISO to 6.1.5, Sometime after I updated it, I tried to update my apps that can be updated and a thing pops up saying "sign-in required" and it takes me to the billing information:

I click continue, and it takes me to the billing information, then tells me "There's a billing problem with a previous purchase. please update your payment method
nothing is wrong with my billing information, i reenter the secuity code, and it goes on to say "your payment method was declined. please enter anoter paymet method
I mean, there isnt any money on my card....? Could it be that?
I have no internet at home, and am wifi surfing, so the fact that I cant download any games or anything right now is reallllly frustrated.

Try purchasing and redeeming and iTunes gift card.
Contact iTunes if yo know your current payment method is valid. Form the message it appears that it is not valid (has no funds)

I have a 4th generation 32gb ipod touch, the power ran out this morning and as i put it on charge, it shows a red battery and the ac power sign but will not turn on or charge. I have tried rebooting it, holding down the power button. Any advice?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

I have a 4th gen. Itouch wiht IOS4 and i want to update it, but when i click the update button in ITunes it says "contacting IPod software server" and it looks like it is loading. However, after about 5 seconds it stops and says "ITunes could not connect to the IPod software server". I found the apple webpage that is supposed to help me, but when i went to the LAN settings in the control panel i found that 'Automatically detect settings" was already checked. I do not know what to do, Please help.

If yo mean the iPod will not connect to your wifi network:
Does the iPod connect to other networks?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - Restore from backup. See:

  • My 4th gen 32gb iPod touch recently crashed for more than 12 hours during which time it was completely unresponsive. This is not the first time it has crashed but by far the longest time it has been unresponsive. What are the likely causes of this?

I don't regularly use any apps beyond Windows Live, Facebook, Skype etc. but app crashes are becoming frequent and this recent blackout was disturbing. What are the potential causes of this and how can I avoid them in the future?

it's weird , your device is not jailbreraked and it crashes? my device is jailbreaked and i almost have the same problems.
    look, to avoid these problems:
1- dont open too much apps , and if you do , close them by multitasking menu.
2-try sometimes to turn off and on your device , its like refreshing ( called "respringing" in jailbreaked devices.
if you have the same problem , see an apple specialist.
    plz mask as helphul question.
    thanks.

  • 4th gen 8gb ipod touch tiny memory

I have a 4th gen 8gb ipod touch and I can only put around 28 albums on, my dad has a 3rd gen 8gb ipod touch and can put 58+ albums on it, why is my memory so small in comparison?

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
    Come back with the results.
Also, the music can have different compression. You can go to the Summary pane for the iPod in iTunes and check the box that says "Convert higher bitrate songs to XX kbps ACC. A good compression is 128

The warranty does not cover accidental damage.

  • I have a 4th gen 20G ipod whose hard drive has died.  Are replacement hard drives available through the apple store?

I have a 4th gen 20G ipod whose hard drive has died.  Are replacement hard drives available through the apple store?

I don't think Apple will do that repair for you, because the iPod is too old.  I believe the hard drive type used in 4th gen and older iPods is no longer produced.  There may be non-Apple shops who can do the repair, but they may be using a working part salvaged from a used iPod.
If you want to do the repair work yourself, and you are good at such things, this web site has repair guides
    http://www.ifixit.com/Device/iPod_Original
(There are probably also YouTube videos on the topic.)
NOTE:  There are two hard drive physical sizes.  The thick version has two platters, and corresponds to the "thick" iPods (with double storage capacity).  A 4th gen 20GB model should be the thin version.  The hard drive used in iPods up to 4th gen should work interchangeably, but 5th gen and later iPods use a different type.
I have a 4th gen iPod that started out as a 20GB.  The hard drive failed, so I put a compact flash card on an adapter in there.  The adapter is like this one (I bought it a few years ago so it's probably not the same seller)
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Compact-Flash-CF-SSD-To-Toshiba-IPod-1-8-inch-Adapte r-Black-/121174875639
The compact flash card is standard; I bought the cheapest one.  I currently have an 8GB card in there, but prices have come down, so I may get a 64GB card soon.  It works great with the 8GB card.  No more hard drive spin-up delay.  Battery lasts longer.  It's lighter.  And it should be more shock resistant.
The only mod I needed to make on the adapter was to bend over two pins 90º, where you place a jumper to set the drive to "master."  The adapter plus CF card is actually smaller and thinner than just original 1.8-inch Toshiba hard drive; I used some thin foam packing material (cut to the right shape) to take up the excess space and ensure the adapter and card did not become disconnected.
The 4th gen iPod has excellent sound, compared to some later iPods.

  • Trying to download an app on my iPhone using the App Store. Thing popped up to accept iTunes terms so it takes me to the page I click accept and it takes me back to the app and it says it will now download. The thing to accept the terms pops up again.

I was downloading an app on the App Store. I pressed install app and it says I need to accept iTunes terms and conditions. So I click ok and it takes me to the page to accept it. I click accept and it takes me to the page where the app is and a thing pops up saying the app will download now. I click okay and the same iTunes terms and conditions thing comes up again. Over and over I accept the terms but it keeps going back saying the app is going to download but it never does.

There must be a problem with the app store right now as a number of people seem to be having this problem right now.  Try purchasing it using iTunes on your computer, accept the terms and conditions there, then either sync it to your phone or download it on your phone as a past purchase (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519).

  • HT5622 When I try to update my apps in the App Store it says sign in required and will not let me update then

When I try to update my apps it says sign in required and will not let me update them

I suspect you have apps that need updating that were purchased from more than one account
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Can't decide between the 1st gen and 2nd gen 32GB iPod Touch, please help.

I would like to buy a 32GB iPod Touch, the problem is that i can't decide whether i should buy a 1st gen or 2nd gen.
Obviously 2nd gen is "better" but is it worth the extra $$$?
Best Buy has the 1st gen for $310 and the 2nd gen is $400, that's $90 difference.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

    that's $90 difference.
Actually, it's only $80 because the 1G touch will come with the old 1.x software and it cost $10 to upgrade to 2.x software.

  • So I have a 2nd gen. Ipod touch.  No apps work at all because I need IOS 4.3 I guess.  I click on an app and it doesn't even try to open.  And if I delete it and try to re-download it, it says I need to upgrade.  Is there anyway to upgrade my old Ipod?

If I cannot upgrade it I will be very unhappy with Apple.

The idea that Apple made a corporate decision to simply eliminate all older iTouch devices from existence baffles me.
Why would I want to invest in any apple product knowing full well that in a few years I will simply have to throw it away. I don't have a lot of money to invest in things like this. Do you? There is no reason I shouldn't expect to be able to acquire older versions of apps for my older iTouch (read 3G IOS 4.2.1.)
I cannot get ANY ibook reader, no VNC. no mapping software. very few games (not that I care much about games.)
There must be millions of the older iTouch devices out there that are good for nothing but a landfill somewhere.
Someone said all older computing equipment eventually goes away. Not so. I have some older computers that can still run WIN98, (even WIN3.11 if I want.) I can still download old applications for those old OS's. There is no NEED to throw them away. I may WANT to, but I am not FORCED to.
While I am sure the older Android and WIN devices will eventually become less popular, they will ALWAYS be useful. I will always be able to get old apps for them. I can still get old apps for win3.11.
The older Apple device are now actually useless. That is the diffference, and it is a big one. Apple is FORCING us to upgrade. As someone pointed out, it's corporate greed.
So, yes, this and all other posts on this subject should be turned into an Apple bashing, Android vs IOS debate until we eventually get Apples attention.
Really, the only way to get Apples attention on this matter is to switch away from them and hit them in thier greed (which is exactly what I am going to do.)
They came out with the first GUI years ago and made the corporate decision to not keep in touch with thier customers. Now look at them. 98% of all desktops and laptops are running competitors OS's.
The same thing is going to happen with the IOS, but much faster this time. It won't take long for people to figure out they simply have to replace there perfectly good hardware because Apple got greedy.
But, alas, It seems Apple is happy with 2% of the marketplace. Too bad. They made a good product. I guess I MUST put mine in the can under my sink.
    Mark.

  • I just bought a 4th gen 8GB iPod touch ,won't connect to iTunes/iStore I've been told by support that I have to have a WiFi network.  We travel in an RV, never near a WiFi network.I have a USB Telstra mobile b'band dongle. How can  I get iPod to work

th gen. 8GB iPod Touch.  It won't connect to iStore. Support say it has to have access to a WiFi network. We travel a lot in an RV and rarely have access to WiFi.  I connect the iPod to a laptop which has a Telstra USB mobile broadband  dongle.  I explained this in detail and was told by the sales assistant that the iPod would work on this setup.  It doesn't.  Has anyone got around this problem?

Go back to the sales assistant and gently place the iPod where...  well, you get the idea.

Hi, I have a 4th generation iPod Touch, and everytime I try to plug it in my Sony dock, for the 2 first seconds, on it's screen, the iPod would display the
image of the battery, but it would automatically turn into a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it, and wrote

Disabling the computer's security software (firewall and antivirus) usually resolves that error.

  • 3rd Gen 32GB iPod Touch Caushes iTunes to crash when connected.

I just bougth a brand new iPod touch 32GB model Number A1318
I connected it to my iMac with OS X 10.6.1 and iTunes 9.0
It detects the new iPod touch and activate it.
But itunes crashes, so I can not sinc with it.
    How do I fix this?
I tried reinstalling iTunes and iPod support from the Snow Leopard DVD, with no luck.

    Hi,
I just want to get in on this one as well because I have the exact same problem. (ipod touch 3rd gen -recently purchased- itunes 9.01 crashes)
When I go to sync my ipod, iphoto will open by default. I am able to see my ipod in the iphoto device list, but I cannot access it - I can only eject it. What is more, itunes will always crash at the same time. I am unable to reopen it.
The only workaround I have right now is that if I delete all the content/settings on my ipod, I am able to re-sync it with itunes. The next time I want to sync it however, I will have to repeat the reset (not ideal!).
If anyone has any help I would appreciate it.
