i have a 4th gen ipodtouch and the screen doesnt work to touch only voice???help

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • I have a second gen ipod nano; The screen doesnt work but it will still make the clicking noises and it is recognised in itunes? why wont the screen work?

    HELP

It's not designed to work like this. When you sync, the iPod stores some information that basically says 'this iPod belongs to computer xyz'. Apple did this to prevent copyright issues (syncing someone else's music).
If you really want to do this, you'll have to at least tie both iTunes installations to the same account. Maybe have them sync with each other.

I have a 4th gen iPad and the type face on the keyboard has been replaced with small squares.  How do I fix this?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • I have Itunes 10.6.3, and the update doesnt work on apple? Help!!

I have Itunes 10.6.3, and the update doesnt work on apple? Help!!

iTunes 10.6.3 is as high as you can go with OSX 10.5  To use your iPhone 5 you will need iTunes 10.7 at least which in turn requires OSX 10.6.8 or higher.
    1) Make sure your computer meets Snow Leopard technical specifications - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575  This mostly means making sure it is an Intel Mac and has at least 1GB RAM (at least 2 GB is recommended).  Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window to "About This Mac". Does it mention  "PowerPC" (not Intel), or Intel? To check RAM continue to "More Info...".  It should say you have at least 1GB of "memory".
    2) Buy a Snow Leopard disc from Apple online
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard - USA
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard - UK
or telephone Apple. In the USA: (800) 676-2775 (contact information for other countries: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57)
Alternatively you can buy from online retailers but anticipate paying much more than the original price which is the price still charged by Apple
    3) Backing up your computer before upgrading is always a good idea.
    4) After installing from the DVD, update your Snow Leopard installation using Software Update or manually downloading and installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v.1.1 - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399

  • I have a 4th Gen. nano.  The screen is constantly disappearing.  It looks like a film behind the glass screen.  As it deteriorates, I can read less and less on the screen.  What is that called and can it be repaired?

I have a 4th generation nano.  The black screen behind the glass screen seems to be cracked and constantly disappearing.  It started in the corner and is working its way across the top of the screen.  The titles will disappear soon.  What do I need to have reapaired?

With the external screen connected and turned on, open the Displays pane in System Preferences. On the screen containing your menu bar, you should now see a Displays preference dialog box with an "Arrangement" tab in it. Click the Arrangement tab. Uncheck the box for "Mirror Displays," or make sure it is already unchecked. In the image within the preferences dialog box you should see two adjoining blue rectangles representing your two screens. A white bar on one representes the menu bar and indicates that that is the primary display. The larger rectangle represents your TV screen. If it's on the right side of the smaller rectangle representing your MBP's screen, then dragging a window off the right side of the built-in screen will move the window onto the TV.
Now open any application window — a web browser window, for example — and drag it by its title bar to move it off the edge of your built-in screen onto the TV screen. Got that? You can do the same thing with any other window, including a DVD Player or VLC window containing a movie that you want to watch.
Things to note: In this dual-display mode, which is called Extended Desktop mode, the menu bar and Dock will always appear on only one of the screens, and you can choose which one they appear on by dragging the white bar representing the menu bar from one rectangle to the other in the System Prefs > Displays > Arrangement tab. You can also set the resolutions of the two screens independently of each other. The highest available resolution on each screen will always provide the sharpest image.

  • I have a 4th generation iTouch and the screen will not slide to unlock. I have tried resetting it. Any tips?

My iTouch touch screen will not work. When I go to unlock it, to slide the thing on the bottom of the screen, it doesn't even seem to sense that the screen is being touched. Also, because of this, I cannot turn it off because the screen doesn't know I'm trying to slide the power off slide on the screen. I have tried holding the power button and the button on the bottom to reset it, but it didn't help. Is there anything else I could try?

If it still does it after a restore, you most likely have a bad screen digitizer. Contact Apple and get it repaired.

  • 4th gen tc and wd book live work to gather?

i have a 4th gen tc and was going to use it specificlay for backing up my macbook pro, i also have multiple pc running windows and wanted to back those up also but not on the tc because i dont want to mix them all on one back up. i saw that wd has a live book that will back up both mac and pc and will file share over the nas network. that is great for file sharing and using out of the office. i also have a netgear wireless router that i stopped using since i installed my tc. am i buying too much equipment or is the configureration going to be able to work ?

If the strategy is network backup then there are boxes that are more capable than the TC.. that is for sure.. particularly windows does not easily work with the TC.
How many computers are you talking about? I presume this is just a peer to peer network and you have no server??
A NAS like the WD Livebook although very much the low end, can work..
How much data would you be backing up on all the windows computers?
Would using USB hard disk directly plugged into the computer be better?
It has advantages.. no network traffic.. rather faster backup.. and being local has no issues with network problems or getting lost or strange disk formats. USB drives are cheap.. using several of them you can rotate them around the computers and have one or two offsite.
You can also create a disk image on the TC since it has 3TB and backup each computer so you have an image even if you don't use it as regular backup location.
If you run a business.. and computers and data are vital to it..
    1. You should be paying somebody to do this.
    2. If you don't have a specialist on staff or contractor.. be as paranoid as you can be.. Your data is your business.. lose it and lose your business. If a computer out means a staff member sits and fiddles their thumbs.. or sweeps the floor.. have redundancy for everything. It is cheaper than staff doing nothing.

Yes.  You can choose to have it repaired by Apple or a 3rd party repair company.  Here are Apple's repair qutoes.

I have a 3rd generation IPod and the screen is black - it is fully charged and will play music but there is nothing to be seen on the screen.  I have no idea how to fix this.  We live in France now so any of the fixes have to be in English since I can't read French.  Any advise would be greatly appreaciated.  I looked at some of the other answers but I have no idea where the Hold button would be on this.  Thanks.

I bought my iPhone 6 1 or 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately I dropped it yesterday and the screen broke. Do I get any help? Do I have any coverage?

Accidental damage are not part of the warranty. Did you purchase Apple Care Plus? That has a two device replacement policy with a deductible over the two years of the coverage. Otherwise they may be able to replace the screen for a price, or replace the phone for a higher price, as an out of warranty replacement, but still lower then that of a new device.

The way iCloud works is that it isn't actually 'syncing', though this is how it's often referred to. The data lives on the iCloud server and is read from there by the various devices (just like webmail). Therefore when you make a change on your iPhone you are actually changing the iCloud website (there is an internal procedure to allow you to make the changes while you are offline, and they are then changed on the site when you next connect).
Therefore any device whose changes appear on the iCloud site, and who can read changes on the site made by other devices, is working: and any device whose changes do not appear, and which cannot receive changes made by other devices which have appeared on the site, is failing to connect. This appears to be the issue with your Mac.
When this happens, sometimes signing out and in again resets the whole setup and corrects the problem. If another device such as your iPhone is connecting to the iCloud server correctly then nothing you do on it will affect your Mac. (In fact even if it isn't connecting it has no effect on your Mac, only on its own ability to transmit changes to the iCloud server).
