I have a Aluminium Late 2008, and i want to know if a 1333 RAM works

Anyone who changed RAM memory from 1066 to 1333?

A previous discussion in where this came up, the stated answer was these were interchangable, was questioned by me; in that the iMac did not require the low-power RAM to function, but the portable did for most power-efficiency; and the parties to that specific discussion (ASC) did not bring up or recognize the point.
Also there is a matter of greater heat generation due to the power consumption, so that could shorten the life of the portable computer should it be running the less power-efficient hotter RAM. While the pin placement & count in one series will physically fit the other and boot it, there are differences worth considering. Important enough ones.
Some things to consider, at least you are aware of them...
Good luck & happy computing!

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • HT1918 I have two ITunes gift cards, and I want to know which one I am currently using.  Where would I find that information, and how would I access it?

I was given two ITunes gift cards for Christmas, and I entered the information for one of them to buy songs on ITunes.  My balance is getting low, and I want to know which card is the one that is being used and the one that is new.  Could you please help me by letting me know how to find that information, and also, instructions on how to get to that place.  I am VERY computer illiterate.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi..
It's not possible to view the code that was used to redeem an iTuness gift card but you can view your balance.
From the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click Store > Sign In
Select iTunes Store from the source list on the left.
Your balance should be available just above QUICK LINKS right side of the iTunes window.

  • MacBook (Aluminium late 2008) and Windows 7

    Hi
I have a late 2008 aluminium MacBook and I need to install Windows 7. I see that I need to install Snow Leopard in order to run Windows 7 so have ordered that. However, I notice that Windows has either a 32-bit and 64-bit installation. From the apple FAQs it would appear that only late 2009 MacBooks can have the 64-bit install. So... two questions. (1) In practical terms, what is the difference between a 32-bit install and a 64-bit install - i.e. will it make much of a difference to me and which Windows-based programmes I can install; and (2) if it would be better to have the 64-bit install, how do i tell whether my MacBook could take it?
    Advice would be much appreciated!
    Thanks
    DonB

    Hi DonB,
in essence the only 'real' difference between 32-bit Windows and 64-bit WIndows is the amount of useable RAM memory.
32-bit WIndows can only address up to 4GB of RAM with something between 3GB to 3.5GB useable.
64-bit Windows does not have this limitation.
And of yourse you would need to install 64-bit Windows when you want to use 64-bit WIndows programs.
Since your signature says 2GB, I would propose to get the 32-bit Windows 7
The Apple FAQs are quite trustworthy in this case although there are some user reports to have installed a 64-bit Windows on a Mac that is on the not-supported Apple list.
But as said, in your case it wouldn't be worth the hassle.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • I have this iMac late 2006 and I want to install the Mac OS X Lion

    Hello,
I want to install Mac os X lion, (not mountain lion) on my iMac Late 2006 , but it is no longer available in the mac app store. How can I do to install the Mac OS X Lion on  my computer?
The thing is that i was hoping the the mountain lion was compatible with my iMac, so is there a way i can still get the Mac OS X lion?

Apple for some dumb reason removed it from the App store, so you now have to call them and ask for it.  I also have a Late 2006 Mac Pro and luckily I took the plung awhile ago and bought it from the App store.  Since they cut off so many machines still being used they should have left Lion in the store.  Any 2006-2007 Mac Pro and any other Mac that has a video card that doesn't have 64b drivers cannot go to Mountain Lion.

I want to go to the apple store and trade the docking keyboard for the wireless one can I do that

Apple don't do trade-ins.  Sell what you don't want and buy what you want.

  • I have an older iPod touch and i want to know if apple discounts you when upgrading to a 4th gen model..

my ipod is a 16gb 1st gen model..
if so how much is the discount?

Apple will only give you a 10% "recycling" discount if you turn an old iPod in when you purchase a new one. You are usually better off just selling the old one

  • I have a MacBook Late 2008 Aluminium and want to increase my storage what should I buy a new HDD or an SSD? I want it to work faster too, can you please recommend specific products that I can consider

I have a MacBook Late 2008 Aluminium which has 160GB currently. I want more storage and to speed up my computer. What should I get HDD or a SSD?
Also can people recommend specific products that are compatible, what are my options?

If you have a cable that connects and external HDD to the MBP, it will do.  If it is something like this, an  enclosure will not be needed for the swap:
An enclosure allows you to use your old HDD for storage or backup purposes.  The cable will not.
Here are instructions as to how the swap can be performed using DISK UTITY.  Substitute You cable for the enclosure in same:
INSTALLING A NEW HDD IN A MBP
    1. Make certain that you have backed up all of your important data.
    2. You will need a HDD enclosure.  One with a USB connection will do.  A 9 pin Firewire is better.
    3. Install your new drive in the enclosure and connect it to your MBP.
    4. Open DISK UTILITY>ERASE.  From the left hand column drag the new drive into the 'Name' field.  Make sure that the format is 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)'.  Click on the 'Erase' button.
    5. Click on the 'Restore' button (on top).  Drag the old drive into the 'Source' field and the new drive into the 'Destination'  field.  Click on the 'Restore' button on the bottom right hand corner.
Depending upon the amount of data you are transferring, this may take a couple hours or more.  A Firewire will speed up the transfer.  This will result in both drives having identical information on them.
    6. After the data transfer has completed, you may swap the drives.  Start the MBP and you have finished the installation.  The initial boot may take a bit longer than you are accustomed to, but that is normal.
    7. When you are satisfied that the new hard drive if functioning properly, you can erase the old drive and use it for any needs that you may have.
If there is any confusion on your part, post back.
    Ciao.

  • I have bought a new imac late 2012 and I want to wipe clean my 2008 mac and install Mountain Lion on the old computer for my kids to have

I have bought a new imac late 2012 and I want to wipe clean my 2008 mac and install Mountain Lion on the old computer for my kids to have.
What do I need to do?

Boot your Mac from the System Install DVD that came with it, and erase the HD using Disk Utility. Then, reinstall the OS from the disc. Give the disc to your kids since it must always accompany the Mac it came with.
After the OS installation is complete and the Mac restarts to begin its new owner setup procedure, just shut down the Mac. Your kids can take it from there.
If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store, you cannot transfer it. The Apple ID you used to purchase it is required to maintain and / or reinstall the OS. Unless you want to supply your own Apple ID to your children for their use, they must purchase their own copy of Mountain Lion using their own Apple ID.
If they do not already have an Apple ID and you want them to have Mountain Lion, you will need to create one on their behalf. This does not change the above procedure - just give them the Apple ID and password you create in addition to the Mac and its discs.

  • I have an old (late 2008) Mac OX S and I want to hook it to my HDTV, but I get no signal??

I have an old (late 2008) Mac OX S and I want to hook it to my HDTV, but I get no signal??
    Please help!!

I know I had an issue trying to connect a VGA cable to my HDTV, if I did not already have the TV input switched to the VGA input BEFORE I plugged it into my Mac.  Because the TV had not been taking to the port, it was not sending the right signals to the Mac.
When I would later switch the TV input to the VGA after the Mac was connected, I got messed up video.
I'm just speculating this might be related.
But playing 20 questions (some of which have already been asked by X423423X):
    What Mac
    What TV
What kind of TV input (HDMI, VGA, DVI, other?)
What kind of adaptor are you using on your Mac
Did you try with the TV input already switched to the correct input source before attaching to your Mac?

I followed your instructions and installed Developer Suite 10G on Windows Vista Home Premium edition. I have Oracle 11G DB running on the same machine.
    Two points, Steve:
    1. When I tried to set the maximum virtual memory to 6110 an error message displayed from Windows and told me that I can't set the maximum virtual memory to more than 4096. I set it to 4090 and it worked and I got nothing wrong during the installation process.
    2. After installing JInitiator and disabling Java on Firefox I called the http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet page and everything seemed to be OK because the Oracle Forms Services logo appeared and then a successful installation message appeared , but as I clicked (ok) to continue a gray screen appeared inside the browser (like the one displayed when you try to run a Java applet inside a browser) and then I wait to death till something appears but sadly nothing. I just get a blank gray screen inside my Firefox browser.
Do you have any idea what to do to solve the problem?
    Regards

  • Stereo Out Problem with Macbook Aluminium(Late 2008) Debian OS

Hello. I'm using my Macbook Aluminium(Late 2008) with 2 operation systems: Snow Leopard(10.6.8) & Debian Squeeze (6.0.4). I've no problem with OsX side, works fast & great. But I've got a interesting problem with Linux side. Everything works but Stereo Speaker. I realized that my macbook uses only one output(right speaker works, left doesn't), so I can't listen stereo music on Linux side. Debian uses ALSA Audio aoutomaticly. I've already asked Debian forums but noone able to solve my problem, so I decided to ask here with my last hope.
    What I tried:
    1- used ''speaker-test -c 2'' terminal code & I've seen this message
    speaker-test 1.0.23
    Playback device is default
    Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
Rate set to 48000Hz (requested 48000Hz)
Buffer size range from 2048 to 8192
Period size range from 1024 to 1024
    Using max buffer size 8192
    Periods = 4
    was set period_size = 1024
    was set buffer_size = 8192
    0 - Front Left
    1 - Front Right
    Time per period = 5.823448
2- Checked Debian's Audio Settings, everything seems normal.
3- Installed Pulse Audio, but it used Alsa base so nothing chanced. In Pulse Volume Control Panel, I saw I've got only Mono Output. But I there is no section for change to stereo.
4- Uninstalled ALSA & installed OSS4 but OSS4 simply doesn't work. So turned back to ALSA.
5- My stereo works only with headphone on Debian.
