I have a balance on my ITunes account, but when I try to purchase music, it says my credit card will be charged. Why can't I use my current balance? and why does't it show up in the ITunes store account. It appears on my IPhone.
Well no, not from my experience. Last night, with a balance of about $42 in the iTunes store (several gift cards this summer) I purchased a 4.99 app - credit card was charged, not the balance in the iTunes store.

I have £25 credit in my itunes account but cannot spend it
Hi,
I have £25 credit in my itunes account, from 2 gift vouchers, but I can't actually spend it. When I chose an album to download, I am taken to a screen that allows me to enter/confirm my bank account details, but there isn't an option to use the credit in my account, even though I can see it in the top left hand corner next to my apple ID.
any advice,
thanks,The iTunes Store sometimes requires a credit card to check that an account is valid, but shouldn’t normally charge purchases to it(except for gifts) while there’s sufficient iTunes Store credit.

How do I pay by account's credit card instead of balance in my credit from gift card?
I'm in exactly the same situation -- I just got a big gift card on my iTunes account, and then American Express sent the 5 free songs offer, which expires in a few weeks. I found the following instructions from someone on another website. I haven't tried them myself but they look like they'll work.
According to Apple's page, it uses the following order for song purchases:
Song credits.
Gift certificate, prepaid card, or allowance credits.
Credit cards.
Thus, it would appear that you cannot charge a credit card without using up your credits or gift certificates first. However, similar to what @Nick said, you could just open up another account, add the credit card to it, and then gift the items you want to your original account.Update: Based on my own tests of self-gifting, these are my findings:
Gifts will deduct money from the credit card on your account; they will not use up song credits nor gift card credit. This means that you do not need to open another account, just add it as a credit card and gift it to yourself.
You cannot send a gift to the same email address as your iTunes account. This can easily be circumvented by sending it to one of your other email accounts.
The easiest method of gifting to yourself is to select the print option. It will show you a code which you then use to redeem the song. It will allow you to redeem the code on thesame account.

I have a balance on my itunes account that I wan to use before it expires. I have a new computer and new iphone, so itunes wants a code from the back of the card. The card is long gone. How do I use my balance without this code?
As I said, some items cannot be purchased with an existing credit on an account no matter how much it is. It can only be purchased with a charge to a credit card.

im trying to purchase music and it says i have $21.07 on my itunes account but when i go to purchase music it asks for my credit card details or a gift card no. and wont let me continue til i do so. how do i spend the money i have on there already?
i try to download the song and it comes up with put in password. then it takes me to a credit card detail place. i have enough money on my account i shouldn't have to use my credit card. how can i use the money alredy on my account? If the amount of the purchase is close to $21.07, then you need to take into account taxes may be added.
If you go beyond the credit from a gift card the balance will be billed to your credit card account. -

I have a credit in my itunes account but when making a purcahse it is asking for my credit card info. I don't want it charged to my credit card, I want to use my account credit. How can I do this?
Hello, Lynne.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here is a helpful article that explains how iTunes purchases are billed.
iTunes Store: How iTunes Store purchases are billed
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5582
When using iTunes to purchase content for the first time on a new device, it may require you to verify your payment information as a way to authenticate your device. If this not a new device attempting to access iTunes store and prompting you provide payment information, there could be an outstanding balance. This article will show you how to verify you purchase history and invoices.
iTunes Store & Mac App Store: Seeing your purchase history and order numbers

Also, you can change the payment method as none as long as there isn't an outstanding balance on the account.

Sales taxes are based on your location as purchaser. I'm sure you can find the sales tax rate in your area.

how can you set up another iTunes account but keep all your purchases and music from a previous account
An iTunes account is something you log into online to buy music.
An iTunes library is a collection of media and other items (including apps) on your computer. This is what you see when you open iTunes.
So, do you mean account or library? You can set up a new iTunes account but all your purchases made in that account will remain in the old account and cannot be moved. You can set up a new library by starting iTunes and immediately hold down the option key. -
I can log in but cannot make a purchase in itunes store.
I can log onto account and see balance but when I try to make a purchase it states that my apple id is disabled. I was previously hacked several months ago and have not tried to make a purchase since this has happened. I have changed id/email and password and still cannot make a purchase. Seems strange since I can log onto my account.
