I have a brand new iPad 2 and it is not being "seen" by iTunes for Windows (64 bit Win 7)

I originally had my iTunes library (music, apps, etc) on a MacBook.  Used "home sharing" to drag over most of my collection to my new Windows 7 laptop.  All apps, music, etc show up fine in iTunes on Windows but when I unpacked my new iPad 2 and plugged the apple cable into the USB port on my Windows laptop and the other end in my iPad 2, no synching occured nor did the iPad 2 show up on the left-hand list on iTunes. 
Any idea what might be wrong?  I did already try different USB ports.  Each time I plug and unplug I get the audible notification from my laptop that the cable is disconnected and/or connected.  so it's not a hardware issue. 

A Couple of questions..
Is the location shown under preferences/Advanced/General still showing the correct location?
Is the check boxes under this checked or unchecked?

    At present I have no power to the Gen 7, so need to get some power to it I think.  I pressed the buttons as you suggested, but nothing is showing up at this point.  Thank you for your response as the more I can rule out before  I take it back the better I think.

    Is iDVD supposed to come on new equipment? It's not on the app store and iMovie tells me I need it in order to burn a DVD.

    If you are still within your 15 day return period.  Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes.)
    Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

    IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

    If it's an Intel Mac, you can upgrade it to Mac OS X 10.6.8.
    If it's a PowerPC Mac, you need to use these instructions and/or iTunes Match to put content on the iPad.

    First, your husband can create his own Apple ID via the web, computer, or iPad, if he hasn't already:

    Next, he can sign out of the Apple services that are currently using your Apple ID on your old iPad, and sign in with his own.

    Sorry, yes iTunes on your computer.
    When I updated my iPad 3 and iPod Touch 4th generation to iOS 6 a few months back, I was able to update the iPad effortlessly over WiFi. but I kept getting error messages when trying to update the iPod over WiFi, so I used iTunes on my MacBook Pro.
    Connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes. Select the iPad under the devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update
    If you are using iTunes 11, go to View>Show Sidebar at the top - so the sidebar is visible.

    What do you mean by copy?  I thought the i cloud did that automatically for you.  That's what I don't understand.

    BTW, statements like
    "Use the device until the battery has drained to the point of self-shutdown. Basically, use it until it turns itself off."
    in articles like the one at http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/ are complete BS and if you do follow their "advice", your battery life will be severely hampered. Particularly if you also follow one of the comments: "Step One.One: Leave the device for 5+ hours before start charging. This will fully drain the battery." Well, the guy that advised the latter certanly doesn't know anyhting about lithium batteries and the damage deep discharging does to them.
    Again, what the article (and the above-cited comment) advices is complete b*llsh*t and noone should really do this.

    Good morning, I installed ios6 on the new iPad and siri will not work. Each time I try to use siri she says "uh oh, I'm having a problem. Please try again. I have tried turning siri off and back on again. Resetting the iPad, resetting the network, turning Airplane Mode off and on again. All to know avail. My iphone 5 works great and so does my wife's iphone 4s with ios6. I have called Apple support but there only suggestion was that the servers were busy. If that was the case my other devices would not work either. Plus the servers wouldn't be busy for four days. Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. I was looking forward to using siri on the new iPad and other folks don't seem to be having a problem.

    Then you need to change your device details as this still says iPad2.
    It's very possible Apple's servers have been busy for 4 days as not everyone downloaded iOS 6 on the day it was announced. I downloaded it last Friday, myself, as an example.
    There are a millions and millions of people using Apple iDevices.
    Just because everything went fine with the iOS 6 updates of your iPhone 4 and 5 doesn't mean something couldn't have gone wrong with an update to your iPad3
    If the iOS update missed something during the download, I am not sure how to go about re-downloading iOS 6 to fix the issue you are having.

  • Notes from iPad and iPhone are not being synced to my Mac with iCloud

    I have been really hesitant to even use iCloud, but i just started to try to use it yesterday - and my Notes from my iPad and iPhone are not being synced together, and both Notes from my iPhone and iPad are not even being seen to my Mac.
    What am i doing wrong with this?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    First check that all your settings are correct, that notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
    Make sure the notes you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone'  or other non iCloud account (you can do this by checking in accounts on an iOS device, or the left side panel in mail on a computer), non iCloud notes will not sync.
    If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your notes are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling notes syncing.

    Just transfer them from iTunes.
    If they are not in iTunes. connect the iPod, then File > Devices > Transfer purchases.
    Then connect the iPhone and sync these songs.
