I HAVE A DILEMMA  (need a new ipod nano)

Okay, so I purchased the 2nd gen 8Gig black iPod in 2007 and I've have been using it ever since...however, unfortunately a couple of weeks ago I reached my limit of storage on my ipod (meaning I can't fit any more songs on there). I never thought I'd even get close to 2000 songs...guess that's just how much I love music, lol. And right now I have so many songs that are on stand by (meaning they're just sitting in my itunes library because they won't fit on my ipod).
Anyway I've been considering purchasing the new 4th generation 16G ipod....HOWEVER, I've been informed that I would have to upgrade to itunes 8, and like ALL 3 of the computers in my house are later versions of iTunes 7. Only the newest computer has iTunes 8, but none of my 1800 songs are on that computer, they're all on the other 3 ones. And I'm afraid if I upgrade all the computers to iTunes 8, that something bad is gonna happen. I look at all these errors that other people are having and it's making me VERY skeptical of upgrading iTunes or getting a newer model ipod nano. Someone even told me that I may have to delete my old itunes before downloading iTunes 8....um....HECK no! lol. And I don't want to sacrifice all my songs (ESPECIALLY the purchases ones) over an upgrade. But I do need more space.
I don't want a big bulky ipod, I like the nanos cuz they're lighter (weight-wise), look better and fit in my pocket nicely. If only the 2nd generations had a 16gig I wouldn't have to write this post, lol. So any suggestions???? I'd greatly appreciate em...and please no wisecracks or smart jokes I'm really trying to come to a solution here, lol.

"Well, some of the songs in my iTunes library are either from CDs, purchased from the itunes store, or they were added to my library from my computer....so that means my ~2000 something songs ARE NOT separate from the program...right?"
Wrong. The iTunes APPLICATION is not the same as the iTunes LIBRARY.

  • New Ipod nano FROZEN!

Okay, I've done everything that the support section has said to do. My ipod nano 3rd generation has not responded to anything I've done. The hold slid thing is off, and my nano is even connected to the computer, and my computer isn't reading it.
I even reboot my system to make sure it's running fine, and I also know that I've got the updated itunes.
What's next? Do I go back to best buy to see what they can do for me? Or did I waste $200.00 on the nano?
There is a full charge, and the screen is on. It will not reset at all. It's frozen to where it is not responding to anything that I do.
HELP! I don't think I can live without it... LOL

I have just been given a new ipod nano for my birthday. I cannot for the life of me get it to sync. I have songs in my itunes libary which have been taken from my previous libary of music on my PC (Windows Media??). The ipod will start to sync and says '1 out of 898' or something at the top. It syncs 7 tracks then freezes EVERY SINGLE TIME! I have never been so frustrated with something, as it appears to sync but then freezes- I don't have limewire or anything so why does this happen!?! Please help me out as I'm beginning to feel your products are poor. All I want to do is put my music on my ipod. My brother told me that ipods do not hold tracks that are non-compatible (MP3 for example) but I got an ipod as I was told the opposite.
Get back to me, Sarah, 17

  • I have OS X 10.4.11 and I just got home with my new ipod nano and I need to update my OS! How do I do this?

I have OS X 10.4.11 and I just got home with my new ipod nano 6th generation and I have after searching threads etc discovered I need to update my OS! How do I do this - all of the posts on this subject are a bit out of date I think? I have a mac book pro 2.2 so I know I can run Leopard, I just have no idea how to get it...? Please help!

Check your Mac against hardware specs to find out what version of OS X you can upgrade to.
Then buy DVD for that version.

It can be tricky to find on the Apple Store. Here is the link:

In order to run iTunes 10 you need OSX 10.5 or greater.  You will have to upgrade your operating system, if that is possible.   What you can do to upgrade will depend upon your computer and software you run.  To get more information about your computer, go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac", then "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number.

  • Bought a new iPod nano.  Trying to download and install latest version of iTunes, but it says I need OS 10.7 or greater to install it.  I have 10.58.  What to do?

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu.
If you have a PowerPC Mac, buy a new, secondhand, or refurbished Intel Mac.
If you have an Intel Mac, phone the online Apple Store and order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD.

  • I have iTunes on my iPad. I have a new iPod nano. How do I connect iPod to iPad to download iTunes and music library?

I have iTunes on my iPad. I have a new iPod nano. How do I connect iPod to iPad to download iTunes and music library?

    Hi Divine Inspiration,
You wouldn't connect the iPod to the iPad for data transfers. Music is stored and shared either through a computer or iCloud.
This article gives an overview of moving music and data off the iPad.

  • I only have 16bit windows vista on my laptop. Can I use my iPad to download songs from iTunes Store and sync to my new iPod Nano?

I have a 16bit vista laptop which is unreliable and I do not wish to use it to transfer songs to my new iPod Nano. Can I sync downloads from my Apple iPad instead?

You need to contact Apple to get the questions reset. Click here, phone them, and ask for the Account Security team, or fill out and submit this form.
Whichever method you use, you probably won't get a response until the 26th. If you absolutely must make a purchase before then, create a new Apple ID; you won't be able to transfer previous purchases or iTunes Store credit to it.

  • Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone can help me.  I recently got my first ever Ipod.  It's the new Ipod Nano 7th Generation.  I have tried to synchronise it with Itunes but it says "Connected, Eject before Disconnecting" but nothing happens.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone can help me.  I recently got my first ever Ipod.  It's the new Ipod Nano 7th Generation.  I have tried to synchronise it with Itunes but it says "Connected, Eject before Disconnecting" but nothing happens.  I have tried uninstalling & re-installing Itunes but this didnt help.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks for your help.

I think the problem is that the iPod got set to Manually manage music and videos.  It needs to be set up for automatic syncing again.  Just unchecking that Manually manage music and videos setting does not do it.
In iTunes 12, select the iPod in iTunes (using the device button), so that you see the iPod's "management" screen.  In the sidebar (along left side of screen), there are two headings (Settings and On My Device).  Under Settings, click on Music.  To the right, you see the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box at the top for Sync Music.  That turns ON automatic syncing for music.  Below that, choose the option to sync Entire music library (assuming your music library fits completely on your iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres and make your selections below.  Then click Apply.

  • Do I need a new iPod?

I've had some issues. On Thursday my iPod skipped a song so I did a backup and restore. I had done this two or three weeks ago. Last night it crashed in a Skype call when 20% notice popped up. It froze on the blue screen for log in of Skype when I tried to reopen. It would darken slightly but not shut off. Not when I hit the power button or hit home button. Only assistive touch would work. I had to back up and restore for it to work again. It may be on the apps part though, because when the apps were reinstalling, Skype was com.skype. I deleted it from iTunes and my device. And today, I had an audio file playing in a Tumblr post, went to Kik, double tapped home in assistive touch and paused it. As I was typing, voice control kept opening. Then my music began to play and fast foward like it was being held. I hit the home button (normal as it does work) to see if it was that then went to settings and turned assistive off then on. The one who I was talking to said it had happened to their iPod when they were in humid weather. It's not humid where I live so I doubt that is what caused it. It's fine for now (has been about fifteen minutes but I plan to do a back up and restore.
Do I need a new iPod or is there a way to fix these issues?

Are the problems you experience significant?
If they are minor, you always have the option to continue using the device until problems of a more significant matter occur. Once that were to happen, if it happens, a hard reset could be used to restore to a back up point. iCloud can also be used to back up your device on a regular basis without you having to worry about doing it manually. Once your device is plugged into a power source and connected to wifi (maybe at the end of the day) it backs up automatically.

  • I have a problem updating the new ipod touch 5th generation

I have a problem updating the new ipod touch 5th generation and I need help:
With each attempt I receive the message:
iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode.  You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.
The iPod only displays a USB cable with an arrow pointing to an iTunes logo.
I receive a "Are you sure..." message with the 2 options, one to Restore and Update and the other to Cancel.
Each time I have selected the Restore and Update button and then moved through the acceptance screens.  Then iTunes begins to download the iOS 6.0.1 Software Update, which usually takes about 50 minutes.  During the download I will receive messages that an iPod has been found in restore mode.
After the download is complete no update occurs to the iPod and iTunes displays the Device Summary screen showing derive Name as iPod and all other items as n/a.
The iPod was working great without any known issues prior to attempting to update the OS.

    Maybe:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com
Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

  • Is this a battery issue or do I need a new ipod?

I have had my Ipod mini since they first came out and use it every day. For the last few months the battery drains constantly every 2 hours so I need to keep it plugged in. Recently it's become as soon as you turn it on it will drain and turn off. Turn it back on it will drain again and turn off.....do this four times in a row it will eventually notice it has a charged battery.
Last night the darn thing turned off completely and will not turn on for anything. I've tried all the trouble shooting tips and now have it plugged into the computer.....dead.
So is this a battery needs to be replaced issue or is it a you need a new ipod issue?
should mention the top where the head set goes in is coming off as well.....over use between work and home.

I was having the same problem and found this link in another thread and followed the directions, removed the battery and when I reassembled my iPOD it worked fine and in fact it indicated a fully charged battery.

Give it a shot, you may have nothing to loose... You should be somewhat handy though.

  • I have many very old songs on my PC and want to move them to my new IPOD Nano 7th. How do I do this?

I want to put all of my real old songs in my PC library onto my new IPOD Nano 7th generation.  How do I do this?

Import them into an iTunes library if needed, and then sync the iPod with that library.
