I have a disabled iPod, do I have to call iTunes to get it fixed?

I have a 5g iPod and forgot the password. After multiple failed attempts, it became Disabled. I tried connecting to iTunes but nothing worked. My friend said we have to call iTunes to help fix it. Do I have to or is there another way?

Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
or
If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.

  • When playing a video I have downloaded from iTunes I get the message "This Movie Cannot be played on this machine"

When playing a video I have downloaded from iTunes I get the message "This Movie Cannot be played on this machine".  The weird thing is that I downloaded the film from iTunes and while it was downloading I was watching it with my kids on my IMac. Once it had finished downloading I went with them to the living room Tao carry on watching on our apple tv.  The apple TV wouldn't play it and said I needed to authorise my Pc, then the IMac gave the message above and I haven't been able to play it since.  All my other downloaded films play.  I am running iTunes version 10.2.2. And my iMac is Running Snow Leopard OS 10.6.7.  Anyone who can shed some light on this weird situation will have my upmost thanks

    Hi,
I have the same problem. Been trying to find some answers, but not a lot of info about this. It seems to happen only when:
    - itunes library is stored remote (NAS or external HD)
    - starting a movie/show before download has finished will make it fail next time you try to start
Hope this gets fixed soon.. it's making purchasing content via itunes a hassle

  • HT201210 been trying to restore ipod touch for days after updating itunes. keep getting error #9. Tried it on 2 computers, with vista + XP. tried all the solutions posted. nothing is working. Thanks Apple. Didn't have this problem before updating itunes!

Been trying to restore Ipod touch for days after updating Itunes. Error code #9. Stuck on restore screen. Tried all the solutions posted. Tried on 2 computers, Vista + XP. No device shown on computer. Thanks Apple! Didn't have this problem before update. How about rolling back your update?

    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • HT201210 My iPod constantly shows the 'connect to iTunes' sign, how to fix this?

My iPod is showing the 'connect to iTunes' sign, even when I connect to iTunes and do everything it says to do. I have repeated this process several times and still no change. I believe it has wiped everything off of my iPod but I can't access anything on it as it is always on the same screen. Can it be fixed?

    Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

  • Ipod is set up in other itunes, wanna get it so i can edit on diff comp

well my bro has a laptop and i dl'd itunes on that and set up my ipod on that and my library is on that... and he is off to college now.. and... i dl'd itunes onto this comp.. when i set it up and plugged in my ipod i couldnt access the songs in the library i want to import cds onto it but it says my ipod is alrdy set up in another itunes.... it asks me if i want to replace existing songs wit the ones in my library.. but i just want to add the songs from the cd not replace my like 800 songs with just 2x cds...
    what should i do?

You'll eventually want to Transfer music manually
But first, you'll want to Keep iTunes from automatically updating your iPod
    Another Easier Alternative:
While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys in Windows (CMD + Option keys on a Mac). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes. The iPod will then appear in the iTunes source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto-sync and then you can release the keys. This action may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
You can then ‘right-click‘ on the iPod icon in iTunes’ source column and select iPod Options, then check the box that says “Manually manage songs and playlists”. You can now manage your library without losing any songs on the iPod.
Note: If connecting to a different computer than the ‘iPod’s Home Computer’, iTunes will ask you if you want to update your iPod and give you an opportunity to opt out. This will not happen if you connect to the ‘Home’ computer – iTunes will auto-sync without warning!. Best to know the difference.

  • Ipod wont show up - have to reinstall itunes to get it working

I've had to reinstall iTunes several times in order for it to recognize my iPod (30GB 2006 vintage).
I am running win xp, SP 2.xx. One possible conflict is I have 2 other iPods, a shuffle and a nano that also fail to show up regularly when I attach them via USB to my computer.
Any clue what is happening? Turst me, I've followed the recommended iTunes support instructions by the letter and it is still not working.
    Thanks!

  • HT4859 My ipod has been disabled and I don't know how. And now it says to connect to Itunes and that isn't even letting me. So, how can I fix my disabled ipod if it wont connect to itunes and/or the internet?

Okay so I let my baby sister play with my Ipod and then whenever I came back home the next day the Ipod says "Ipod is disabled" "connect to itunes". But whenever I try to connect it to itunes it says there is an error and wont connect it. So therefore I cannot connect it to itunes to fix the Ipod.

Your sitter must have tried logging into the device using the wrong passcode.  Do it too many times and the device becomes disabled.
Connect to your computer in recovery mode per the instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
You may need to do this more than once.

  • Do you have to uninstall itunes to get another version?

I bought an ipod touch and I need to get the latest version for my ipod, so do i have to uninstall the current version of itunes I have and then install a newer version of itunes?

You should be able to update directly. You might just open iTunes to see if you don't get a dialog telling you a new version is available, or check if the Windows version of iTunes has an option to check for updates.

  • The new update gave my ipne 4s many problems! now apple says i have to pay $150 to get it fixed? That is not fair!!! please help!

Since the update my iPhone 4s started freezing and restarting by itself! I have done everything apple have told me to do. I restarted my phone like new restarted settings etc. And still its giving me the same problems.
I don't believe I have to pay that amount of money because the reason for these issues is the update apple sent !!!!
    Please help!

If you actually have an iPhone 4S, and 'Apple' referenced a $150 fee (assuming U.S. dollars), then that's not right.  Apple only charges $19 USD for troubleshooting assistance.  If the device cannot be fixed by troubleshooting and it needs to be replaced, then the out-of-warranty fee may apply.  For iPhone 4 and older, that's $149.  For iPhone 4S, that's $199.  For iPhone 5, 5C or 5S, that's $269.  For iPhone 6, that's $299.  For iPhone 6 Plus, that's $329.
You have either inaccurate information from Apple, or you weren't talking to Apple.  What phone number did you call to talk to 'Apple'.

  • Previously purchased songs NOT showing as purchased in the itunes store. I dont want to re-buy something I already have. How can I get this fixed?

Ive got quite a few songs. I dont want to rebuy one ive already got. Why are my songs not showing as purchased in store like they once did? How do I solve this issue?

    Hi,
Go to song view, add iCloud status. To do this, go to menu > view > view options and tick box. This will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, duplicate, ineligible or waiting. As the scan is stalling with one track remaining, find this track - it is likely to have a icloud status of waiting.
Suggest that you delete from library then select update iTunes Match. Once match completes try readding track - by the way how. Big is the track and whatever is its media type?

Try and closing the app (app store in this case) and switch it back on and then download. If it still doesn't work, then give the IPad a rest and try again later.
