I have a disabled ipod that will not restore with iOS7

What exactly happens when you try to restore via iTunes?
Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

  • Corrupt iPod that will not restore

This is the second iPod classic i have purchased the first being for myself (on a mac) and the second for my girlfriend (using a vista PC). The second iPod is now having some problems. When the iPod is plugged into the PC it takes about 5 minutes (during which iTunes freezes) for iTunes to recognise the iPod is connected and then says it can't read it and that it needs to be restored. I tries unplugging the iPod and reconnecting it several times but this had no effect. So i tried clicking the restore option but it did nothing, iTunes froze up for nearly an hour and nothing happened. I though it could have been a PC issue so i tried plugging the iPod into my iMac and it still did nothing, in fact it didn't even come up saying it was synced to a PC and would i like to reformat it (which was what i was hoping for). Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the issue? Also do you think someone in an apple store would be able to help?

Sory if i have hijacked this thread .. but there does not seem to be a way of creating a fresh post? If hter is please let me know,
My problem: I have just moved country and downloaded my whole library on to a portable hard drive.
I have a new PC using widows XP .. it is set up but only shows the music i have purchas a very small percenbt of my library.
My portable hard drive has failed !
How do i import from my ipod clasic to my PC ?
I have been told that there are free programs to do this .. Does any one know of one and can recommend it?
    Thanks

  • Empty iPod that WILL NOT restore

Today when I went to go to my songs and play a song I turned on the iPod and everything was ok untill I got to the songs menu. Empty! Everything is gone all I have is everything but music, well i don't have any playlists either because they were deleted too. So i had a similar problem before so iTunes told me to go to software update to restore it to faculty settings because iTunes won't allow it to be changed or anything. Then i tried to manually restore it and that wont work. Then i tried to use software updater but it says ipod wont mount. so im screwed and i have no idea what to do whatsoever because i ran out of answers! Therefore, i'm looking for a lot of help thanks for looking at my post.

If your iPod is recognized in "my computer", changing the drive letter can sometimes resolve this issue.
Click on control panel/admin tools/computer management/disk management/right click on the iPod to re-assign the drive letter.
Choose something lower down the alphabet, say 'M' or something similar.
The iPod can be confused by any other storage devices assigned a similar drive letter even though they may not connected at the same time.
Now, try the restore again using the iPod updater.

  • I have a 3rd Generation iPod that will not connect to Home Wi-Fi- keeps dismissing- saying unable to connect.

I have a 3rd Generation iPod that will NOT connect to our internet connection at home. Message on screen keeps saying it is 'unable' to connect. Yes I have already reset to default factory settings, No we do not have our service encrypted or password protected, anyone else have any other viable suggestions as to how to fix this problem?

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • TS1702 I recently purchased several apps that will not sync with iPod touch.  Of 5 apps, three won't sync.  Computer is authorized, I've reinstalled apps, nothing works. Any ideas?

I recently purchased several apps that will not sync with iPod touch.  Of 5 apps, three would not sync.  I updated all software, checked authorizations, and reinstalled the apps -- no luck.  Any ideas?

All the apps state they are compatible w/ my model iPod Touch.  No restrictions are set that would prevent syncing.  Seems like I might have had a similar problem a while back with one app but can't recall the solution -- it was something simple.

  • I have a G72 laptop that will not turn on! Please help

    Hello,
I have a G72 laptop that will not turn on. The power button simply does nothing. I know that the battery is at least charging because when I plug it in, the LED indicator is white saying that it is charged. Sometimes when I take the battery out and put it back in it starts up for a split second, then a second or two later shuts off. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

You should be able to copy it from your iPhone to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, and if it's compatible with your iPad you can then sync it to it

  • I have a mac Book that will not open DVD's of Business Presentations.  I had my hard drive taken in to the Mac Store and had a new hard drive installed.  Since then I cannot open DVD's.  What is the application that I need, and the process. Tks

I have a mac book that will not open up DVD's recorded with a presentation.  I install the disc in a HP / windows 7 and it works fine.  I had my hard drive replaced and since then I cannot open up DVD's.  Was there a application that did not get installed?  And if so what is the process.

You need DVD Player. It should be in your Applications folder. If it is in there go to System Preferences>CDs & DVDs and for "When you insert a video DVD" make sure DVD Player is selected.

I have a MacBook Pro that will not boot up. The apple symbol is there and the spinning wheel keeps spinning. Any idea how I can fix this?

    Reinstall OS X.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    OR
Reinstall Snow Leopard without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.

If you wish to do further testing to insure it is the PRAM battery at fault before ripping into the computer, there are a couple of things that always worked for me if the battery was really the problem:
    1) Zap the PRAM--cold boot and immediately press and hold these four keys simultaneously:
    command
    option
    p
    r
Keep holding until you here a total of three (3) startup chimes, then let go the keys. NOTE: In some Mac models, the second and third start-up chime tone during a PRAM zap can be rather quiet. Either crank up the volume, do the zap when the room is quiet, of use headphones to be sure you are hearing teh tones.
    2) See if the computer will boot from a system disk by holding c during boot. The disk can be a full retail install disk, a system restore disk supplied with the computer, or a utility disk like DiskWarrior or TechTools that allows booting. If the computer boots and you get video, you can feel confident that the only thing needed is a PRAM battery. You can do a hot boot back to the hard drive and the computer should work as long as someone doesn't unplug it again.
However, if neither of these work, that can mean something more sinister than a PRAM battery has gone walkabout.
