Why are you changing your ID?
iTunes/app purchases are locked to the account that purchased them. For some actions like updating apps you have to sign into the account that purchased them. Just changing the ID does not not delete any media from the iPod.
When you delete the iCloud account for the iPod should should be offered the option to leave contacts on the iPod. See:

To circumvent an iPod with a forgotten passcode you would need to restore the iPod to factory settings. This will remove the software and data/content from your iPod as well.
To put your iPod/iPhone into recovery mode:
1. Make sure the iPod/iPhone is connected to a computer with iTunes installed on it.
2. Hold down the sleep/wake button(top button) and the home button at the same time until the iPod/iPhone screen goes black then shows the apple logo( usually 10-15 seconds).
3. Once the apple logo appears on the screen, let go of the sleep/wake button and keep holding the home button.
4. The ipod/iphone screen should show an itunes logo and usb cable if you were successful. A dialog box will appear in iTunes that states an iPod/iPhone in recovery mode has been detected if you are successful.
5. Click ok, then click the Restore button
After that you should be up and running in no time!

Please Help!!!! I have an ipod touch 4th gen. and since the last update the lock button no longer works, this has caused it to have a lot of problems now like freezing all the time, kicking me out of almost all my apps, some times even when if locks on its own its not locked and buttons with be pushed in my pocket, and this causes the battiery to die fast. I really love my ipod and would like to just get it fix if possible for a reasonable about of money. Anyone know of a place I can get it fixed in Ft Lauderdale Fl area or is there something I can do?

- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

Back up your device to iCloud or iTunes.
That's virtually the very first thing it says to do.
There's no excuse to not have your data backed up prior to updating. Tell me, what would you have done if, instead of this being an issue where you updated your iOS and had an error, if instead you had dropped your iPhone and it was damaged beyond repair, or if it was stolen or lost, etcetera.
Perhaps you'd been backing up to iCloud and didn't realize it? Maybe the missing Notes data is linked to a Mail account? You might be able to reconstruct the data, but it's going to be an uphill battle.
Best of luck. Make sure to backup more frequently in the future. There are two types of people in the world; those who have lost data, and those that will lose data. The only difference is how prepared you are for that event. -

Try resetting:
Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.
If that doesn't work, just let the battery drain. Once you charge it back up it should work as normal. -

I have been having problems with my iPod touch and my WRT54G router. I am so frustrated right now because after following the various steps mentioned in one of these threads, following Earthlink's prompts, and speaking with Apple, my iPod touch will still not work. It is connected to the internet but will not download the pages. It is quite frustrating. I have changed from WPA to WEP, I switched the 4th Generated key to the 1st. I've disabled this, enabled that. I've done just about everything. I updated the firmware. I made the switch from a partial bridge to a full bridge. Still nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any other suggestions? The one thing I have not done is enter the Apple code into the iPod which searches for website...-- I cannot access the internet with my iPod so this web address does not work. If anyone has been successful, will you please give me step by step instructions? Yesterday I was on the phone with Linksys for about an hour. Before that with Apple for about an hour and before that with Earthlink. How it is that I can walk into a Bread Co. or Apple Store and immediately connect to the internet with my iPod but I can't in my own house?? Everyone seems to think it is someone else's problem so I've gone around and around. Not one of the Linksys support personnel suggested I look here on this community forum. 1. Settings - wifi - linksys
2. Erase your DNS settings & input same numbers as in router
Settings.
3. Http proxy should be
in off position.
4. Close out & open safari you should now have a wireless
connection. -

The logo is saying connect it to your computer with iTunes installed on the computer. I assume when yo do this that the iPod is not seen in iTunes. to make iTunes appear try:

The backup of your iPod Touch would include your camera roll photos. Restoring the backup to another iPod Touch or iPhone would recover them. Photos will not be restored by restoring the backup to an iPad.
Note: Apple deletes iCloud backups after 180 days of inactivity so be sure to do this before then. -

Yes, my computer was backed up. for reasons way too complicated to go into here, these particular folders were not part of the backup.
