I have a few small dents in my MacBook

I bought it on Boxing day 2011
It had a small dent on the day but I ignored it (was too happy playing with it)
After dishing out over $1200 on it, I treated it like gold and I do still to this day,
I never ever dropped it or anything
And now, I have like 3 dents in the lid and the bottom cover isnt exactly aligned with the bottom
Can I ask apple to fix this? I think it is a defect, as I haven't abused it at ALL.

Your warranty covers defects in material and workmanship.
Dings and dents are not covered.
For dent repair, talk to an auto body repair shop. They may want to paint it when the dents are pounded out, especially to cover the grinder marks and the Bondo [body repair compound].
Apple services Macs by replacing major sub-assemblies with new ones, or occasionally re-manufactured ones.
Once you find out the price to replace all the parts with dings and dents, you:
1) may need a defibrillator
2) for just a little more money, you can probably buy a new Mac and sell the old one.

Few small questions about locating Macbook air specification information

Sorry for silly questions but I'm a bit stuck after trying to find the answers myself...
1. I went to About this Mac > System Report > Hardware. I cannot find the RAM but does this fall under Memory?
2. I went to Finder, then Capacity is showing 121GB. Is the the correct location to check the size of the Hard Drive?
3. Where can I check if the hard drive is SSD or not or a SuperDrive?
4. I needed to find the Model Number which I couldn't find using 'System Report'. Can you please let me know for future reference where to Model Number on the actual machine? I did actually googled the serial number and found a website with the specification of the machine, but is this good practice and normal way of finding out this information?

1- Yes RAM falls under memory.
2- Right there, in the system report, look down in the list for Serial-ATA and you will see you hard drive specs.
3- Same as step 2, you will see something like "Model: APPLE SSD SM128C" depending on your drive's size.

I have a small dent in my iPad. Does the warranty cover this?

I was walking down my hallways, and tripped over my dog, who was laying right in the middle of the hallway. I fell over, but suffered no injuries. My iPad did though. It's the new iPad 3, so I just got it a few months ago. I have a small dent on the back of it, due to my arm falling on it. I was afraid that the camera would not work (this is not the Retina camera on the front, it's the one on the back), but it works just fine. The upper right-hand corner of the iPad is dislodged fromthe metal-type shell, and when I'm using my iPad, I can see the light in the inside. The sleep/wake button still works, but the dent just looks horrible. I bought a warranty when I bought the iPad, but I'm not sure if it covers it.

Accidental damage is not covered except to some degree with Applecare+ if you elected to purchase that.

I have a few hundred duplicates in my iPhoto library, but the file sizes are different. So one is 1.3mb and one is 567kb. I want to delete the smaller ones, but short of comparing each duplicate, is there a way to do this?

I just ran a test with iPhoto Library Manager, Duplicate Annihilator, iPhoto Duplicate Cleaner, Duplifinder and Photodedupo. I imported a folder of 5 photos into a test library 3 times, allowing iPhoto to import duplicates. I then ran the 5 photos thru resizer to reduce their jpeg compression but all other aspects of the file the same.
None of the duplicate removal apps found set that was reduced in the file resizer. That's probably due to the fact that the file creation date was being used as a criteria and the resized photo would have a different file creation date even though the Image Capture date was the same.
They all found the 3 regular duplicates and some of them would mark two and leave the 3rd unmarked. iPhoto Duplicate Cleaner can sort the found duplicates by file size but if the file was edited to get the reduced file size it might not be found as it would have a different file creation/modification date.
iPhoto Library Manage was able to find all duplicates and mark them as such if the file names were the same the the filename option was selected. Otherwise it also missed the modified, resized version. It allowed one to select the one photo to save before going to work on the library.
So if a photo has been reduced in image quality or pixel size it will not be considered a duplicate.

Thinking of getting an iPad but have a few questions

After using the iPhone 4 (3GS previously) and really liking the OS on it, I am thinking of purchasing an iPad to make reading ebooks easier, also, having the iPad would be more convenient for me to quickly go on the net in my home (or other wifi area, but mostly home use) to seek information and also check, send emails, rather than having to switch the computer on all the time and then having to wait for it to load up and also with the iPad, the larger screen would make email, internet use and ebook use more pleasurable due to the iPad's larger screen when compared to using my iPhone.
I have a few questions that I would like to ask to iPad users, who could perhaps answer them for me?
In my household we have 2 iTunes libraries, one for my iPhone and one for my girlfriend's iPod. I created a separate iTunes library for each of the devices so that each one would have a totally separate library and therefore the possibility of having one overwriting the others library would be impossible.
Now ideally I would be wanting to create a separate iTunes library for the iPad, but I would want to add the music and apps, email accounts, bookmarks that I have on my iPhone and add them onto my iPad. Would this possible?
Also. I believe some apps have specific versions for either iPhone or iPad, so would the iPhone versions of the apps run on the iPad, or would I need to download the iPad versions of those particular apps?
Also. I have a number of DVD's that I have converted and then dragged and dropped the video off of them into iTunes. If I am correct, would I need to reconvert those videos/DVD's again, as the video size (screen size) would be for the iPhone and therefore a smaller screen, which would not look very good on the iPad's much larger screen. If this is the case, can anyone recommend a good video converter for converting video for the iPad and what settings need to be used for the iPad?
I also would be wanting to have a number of photos on the iPad. To get them onto the iPad, is it just a simply matter of selecting the pictures I have on my computer that I want added to my iPad, and then just dragging and dropping them into iTunes, then connecting and syncing the iPad to get them added on to the iPad, or is there an easier method?

Funny you should mention Macs, but I'm thinking of my next computer been an iMac, and using the Parallel Desktop software so that I can have functionality of been able to switch to Windows when needed to run the programs that are not Mac compatibly. I'm swaying towards Mac has I have heard their OS is more reliable and secure compared to Windows, and the need to have anti virus and anti spyware programs on a Mac is not really needed, but I figure if I can run Windows on a Mac then I have the best of both worlds, anyhow back on to topic
I do indeed take backups of the various libraries and related data for them.
I have used the Dropbox app and was impressed, but I did prefer an app called iFiles which allows me to carry various files/files types around with me on my iPhone, such as PDF files, Word doc files etc.
The reason I use the method of having a separate iTunes library for each device we use on the computer, (my iPhone, girlfriend's iPod, and soon maybe an iPad) is because I accidentally replaced the music I had on an iPod I had at the time with my girlfriend's music. So from then on, that's why I have created a separate library for each Apple device, and so far I have never accidentally messed up another devices contents.

1 - i have removed my Sound Blaster Audigy and i am now able to reach 2.5GHz easily, when the audigy was installed, i could never get over 2.4Ghz, why?
2 - i have increased my vcore to 1.7 yet am experience lower idle temps with c'n'q enabled eg...2.4GHz @ 1.55v would idle at 29c.....2.5GHz @ 1.7vcore idles at 23c, how?
3 - moving my ballistix ram into dimm slot 3 i am now able to go 1:1 to 228 htt at timings 2.5,2,2,10 easily...when the ram was in dimm slot 1 i couldnt go 1:1 over 200 htt, why?

NetStream.send() should usually be faster than NetGroup.post(), especially when using 1:1 NetStreams (vs Group NetStreams).
when groups are large, there's no passive way to tell when members join or leave. however, for small groups (less than about 15 members), they will be "fully meshed", meaning every member has a direct connection to every other member. when that's the case, you can see the NetGroup.Neighbor.Connect/Disconnect events on a NetGroup. to receive those, you must create a NetGroup with the same groupspec as your NetStream and listen for NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS events.
your function "msg" must be a method on the subscribing NetStream's "client" object to receive NetStream.send()s from the publisher.
this is all generic ActionScript stuff. i don't know how to use Flash CS5 but this stuff should all be the same in Flash and Flash Builder.

i did not buy my macbook from apple however it is eligible for apple care. My macbook has a small dent but i don't care about that since it works fine. My problem is i want to buy apple care plus just incase of hardware issues. If my macbook has a small dent and i buy apple care does that mean whatever hardware issues i have will be ignored because technically its " damaged " ?

I suggest that you visit an Apple store and show the management the MBP and get an opinion from them. If they say that it is eligible, get the opinion in writing.

There's really no way for any of us here to know one way or the other. You will have to take it to Apple and they will tell you whether they consider it covered under your warranty or not.

Oracle 9i R2 Installation on RH Linux 7.3 -- Have a few questions.

I am at the end of the Oracle 9i R2 installation and have a few questions.
1) The "Agent Configuration Assistant" keeps failing. I get the following message.
Parameters "orahome" = /opt/oracle/product/9.2.0
Parameters "nodeinfo" = NODE_VALUE
Agent Service Failed
What does this mean and how can I complete Agent Configuration Assistant install?
2) I completed the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant successfully and created passwords for sys and sysoper (not sure if these were the exact users). Note I did not modify any other users or unlock them.
How do I log into the sqlplus prompt, what users should I use and how can I create new users and databases?

(1) You can probably just ignore the Agent Configuration (are you using the Agent to collect data?)
(2) sqlplus '/ as sysdba' will log you into the SQL*Plus prompt.

They will only be where you put them If you are doing the very basics, then they will be on your computer and they will be in your backup copy of your computer.
The itunes store is not global at all, never has been. You cannot redownload your content from another country. You can only use the countrys itunes store for the country that you are physically located.

New to IPhone and have a few Questions?

To start I want to say that I am a long time (25+ years) veteran of technology but am new the the IPhone. My IPhone is not Jailbroken and would like to keep it that way if I can. Allthgouh I did jailbrake it with blackra1n for about 30mins then I did a factory reload and let it be as it started acting stupid once I started installing apps from unofficial sources.;) Im a x86 nerd and NOT a MAC guy. I haven't sat down at a MAC/Apple in about 15/20 years.
I just got my first IPhone 3Gs/16GB. (Coming from a BlackBerry Curve 8310) the other day and although it is taking some time getting used to, I think I will like it more then I do once I get used to it.
Anyhow I have a few questions to start off with. I did some googleing already but just want to make sure I understand a few things.
All though I did the BlackRa1n jail break thing and installed a few apps then it locked up and failed to turn on or something so I did the whole reload from itunes and now its all good. Anyhow.....
1.) It appears as if one can not run a program from the home sreen and have it run in the background while doing other things? Take the many SIP Clients I have played with in the last 48 hours. Once I open the SIP Client and connect if I hit the physical button below the screen the program closes, thus the sip client no longer works. Pretty much most if not all apps iv installed from the App Store act like this. Is this the case? Does the IPhone not mutitask at all or verywell?
2.) Are there any SIP Clients that work over 3G? All the ones iv tried say they are for WIFI only. The SIP Clients work fine when on WIFI. It sounds like this is Apples way of controlling/monopolizing the voice/data/voip aspect of the platform/device. Im sure they would lose a lot of money if everyone did what I am trying to do.Just my opinion.
3.) Maybe I play with it to much but **** the battery dies fast. Is there anyway to optimize the battery at all other then for me not to use it as much?
4.) How can I remote lock it if I lose it or it gets stolen? I read somewhere this could be done.
5.) Are there any other Shells/HomeScreens/Themes that can replace the standard 4x4x4 row icons?
6.) The speaker phone (when on a call) seems kinda low even when turned all the way up. Is there any way to make it louder?
7.) I am using the built in VPN client to connect to my works PPTP Windows 2003 VPN server but the client randomly disconnects through out the day. Is there any way to have some type of keep alive set or are there any other VPN Clients that I can use?

The iPhone SDK does not permit ANY 3rd party apps from running in the background or multitasking. It does provide for push notifications which can simulate certain background activity in terms of receiving external notifications while the app is actually closed. This works reasonably well with IM apps, news, sports, weather, travel updates and some peer-to-peer games.

Just how would the SIP server connect to the cell carrier 3G network? Do you know of ANY that do??

3G voice and data connections are culprits. Avoid email push and frequent fetching. See this Apple article for detailed suggestions.

MobileMe Find My iPhone will locate, set a passcode lock and optionally wipe all data from your iPhone. You have to be a MobileMe subscriber.

You can troubleshoot your iPhone as described in the User Guide - restart, reset, reset settings, restore. Or, get hearing aids

I am now running Windows 7 Ultimate on my Macbook Pro and the through VMware Fusion Software and I have a few questions about the ins and outs.

So far I have a few kinks to work out. While running Internet Explorer 8, I get the error message, " Cannot connect to the internet." In Networks on the control panel, it says that I am connected to a local area public network but there is no internet access. How do I establish a connection to my existing network which works with the mac os? Also, of course, programs like Adobe, Quick Time Player, and uTorrent/bitorrent are already installed on my computer. Do I have to download them again on windows or can I import them or share them somehow?

I am about to run specialized GIS software that may or may not need the full machine resources. I am an attorney who uses QuickBooks for my accounting. The Mac version does not do as much as the Windows version. This is from both Apple and Quick Books professionals. I am using Parallels Desktop version 8 at this time. It does not support QuickBooks Windows version per Parallels. Any other questions? I am a highly competent PC user who is new to Macs. I am entitled to my own configuration choices. That said, I know when I need help which is now.
As to the free space issue I have 665.18 GB free space out of 749.3 GB on the drive. I am not trying to run the 32 bit version. I know that it requires the 64 bit version. Besides, it does not get that far in the process. As I said Boot Camp asssitant terminates unexpectedly as soon as you hit the continue button after setting the partition size. Therefore I conclude that it does not have a chance to see which version of Windows that I am using. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version in the virtual engine (to use Parallels speak), but again Boot Camp would not see that since it is not running. It can't run at the momenet because Apple just installed a new hard drive and I have just restored the data from TIme Machine and Parallels needs reactivated, which I have not done yet deliberatley. Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
