I am not doing it in ITunes, but i did down load the song from ITunes. I loaded the song on to my Nano, but in my menu selections it doesn't show the song or the artist in any search format. However, when i plug in my nano to my PC I see the Nano library on my PC drive listings and that song and artist are there. I can click on the song and it will play in Windows media on my work PC. I did notice that the format for most all the songs in my library on my Nano are MPEG - 4 audio Files.

If the drive has failed the only way to get any data off it is to send it to a Data Recovery company. Which is very expensive and no guaranty they will be able to retrieve any data.
That is why Apple has included a system to backup your Mac on a regular basis, Time Machine. Also there are other Apps to do basically the same thing by Cloning your internal drive to an external drive. Carbon Copy Cloner and SuperDuper. Along with using Disk Utility to Image the internal drive to an external drive.
Sorry to tell you but if the drive has really failed your Data is gone unless you pay a large sum of money to one of the Data recovery companies.

When clicking File on top of this page a dropdown box shows Open File and when doing so many old downloads are there. How can I delete the entire batch at once.

When I click on Filed(in upper left hand corner of screen) a drop down box appears which includes several choices including Open File. When I click on Open File it shows many old downloads which I don't want or need to save. I can delete them individually but there are many many of them. hello cardavfl, i think in the open file dialog in the windows file picker you only can select one item at a time.
it would be better to look at the top of the file dialog ("look in:") where this folder is located on your harddrive & then use windows explorer & go to this path - then you can press ctrl+a to select all items at once (or use the mouse to select them all) and to delete them ...

Without all the permission issues and such? One example is when I try to copy my drive to an external firewire drive that's empty I get the can't copy a file cause one already exists. The drive is blank? I'm doing a quick reformat and it would be easiest to just copy the entire drive and pull files I need over later. It's a powerbook G4.

It may be worth explaining a little more about the clipboard. When an app "copies" it doesn't put just one format on the clipboard, it can put many. Sometimes they are different flavours of the same thing (like Formatted Text and Unformatted Text). But there can be completely different kinds of thing: pictures, secret stuff that no other app would understand, web addresses, whole files... The chances are that Acrobat puts a whole bunch of things there, including the whole file. But you need to use an app that can paste the whole file. Paste Special doesn't show all formats, just all that the current app understands.

I must have a toggle checked somewhere, but my desktop will only play one song at a time, then stop. My laptop plays right down the list, from where I begin until I stop the playback. Help!

That is the way it behaves when boxes are unchecked. Just recheck them. The easiest way is to hold the CTRL key and click any one of the check boxes. That will recheck all the boxes in that view.

Does anyone know how I can copy the entire contents of an Address Book group and paste the results into an e-mail to send to others? When I select the group and then the "copy" tool, it copies only the first address in the group. If I select "select all", it selects all e-mail addresses everywhere, not just the ones in the intended group.

He did not want to add them all to his address book; he simply wanted to have my long list of staff email addresses without having to type it or create it himself, like this: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc. We used to use an email application called Eudora which allowed you to copy and paste group lists as though they were just text characters. I tried Notpod but can't get it to work. Part of the problem, I suspect, is that I can't create a folder on my player (a SanDisk Clip+). I also can't do this in Windows Explorer. Whilst I can see the Clip+ in Explorer, the option to create a new folder isn't there.
The error mesag I get in Notpod is:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit the application will close immediately.
InvalidArgument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'SelctedIndex'. Parameter name: SelectedIndex"
Then, when I plug the Clip+ into a USB port, iTunes thinks it is my iPad - which is because, I guess, Notpod hasn't worked.
I can drag and drop files from the Music folder where my iTunes tracks are stored onto the Clip+ and they get converted but I'd rather synchronise a Playlist from iTunes if I can.

I just spent several hours dealing with this when switching to a new PC. It was extremely frustrating as I knew my files were on my external HD but no matter how many times I copied my old iTunes folder over the files were still missing...because dummy me had forgotten to "unhide folders" on my new PC and my old files were actually stored in a hidden folder created long long ago.
This is how I did it on Windows 7 with iTunes 10
1. Look in iTunes Advanced Preferences to see where iTunes is saving files. (Edit, Preferences, Advanced)
Example: C:/Users/Woildbill/My Music/iTunes/Music
2. Ensure you are able to see hidden files - Control Panel, Folder Option, View, Show Hidden Files
3. Use Your Computer's Search Function to Locate the Missing File (Start, Search, type name of song - I started my search in "My Music" folder but be sure to expand to entire Computer if not found right away)
4. In Search Results, right-click found folder and select properties. This will tell you where the file is actually stored.
5. Use Windows Explorer (right-click start) to navigate to the location of the file. It is likley your other missing files are in the same location.
6. In Windows Explorer, copy the newly located files to the iTumes location from Step 1 and everything should work again.

When buying HD versions of shows, only the HD copy will automatically download now (probably due to requests from people who don't need/want the SD version and complained about it being forced on them). The SD copy can be downloaded from your purchases area in iTunes. On the main iTunes Store page, go to Purchases under the Quick Links and then select TV shows. Click the "Not On This Computer" button. Uncheck the "Download HD when available" box and you should then see the SD copies of the shows and be able to download them.

I'm trying to send home movies to my 10 year old nephew who lives across the country. He doesn't have a computer. He has an iPod touch. His parents have computers. But I don't want everything I ever try to have him do result in "you need your parent's computer for this." It's getting really embarrassing. I have converted my family over to Apple computers but now they want to buy iPhones, iPads, and iPods even though I tell them to go Android. It took a decade to convert them away from windows now I'm trying to keep them away from these freedom limited iOS devices and they won't listen. I know, I always do that but I was in a rush to get somewhere and I was relying on my thousand dollar Mac to do some kind of recovery or something. I know Microsoft always keeps temporary files (I think Mac does too, part of me asking here in this forum was for someone to tell me where I can find those files) and when you go to open Office Works then it gives you the option of opening the last recent documents, saved or not saved.
I usually copy paste into my emial just in case something goes wrong with the created document but I just didn't have the time to login and do all that My loss, you live and you learn, BUT still if ANYONE got any info on this, PLEASE DO CHIME IN *keeping the hope alive*
