I have a G60 laptop with Vista. How can I get download to install on new hard drive? FT468UA

Hard drive is in Chinese I want to change it to English. Or reinstall Vista on a nother hard drive.

Sorry, there is no download of Vista install. You have to make a Recovery Disc set to reinstall Vista. However your copy is licensed for Chinese (I assume) so that is what you will get with a reinstall.

I have so many photos on my Mac I only have 1G of memory left.  How can I move the photos to the external hard drive that is plugged into my iMac.

1GB? It's a miracle your Mac is running at all!
This is our resident iPhoto guru, Terence Devlin's, advice:
You can move your iPhoto Library to an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • How do I get the os on a new hard drive?

optical drive doesn't work, hard drive crashed. how do I get the os on a new hard drive?

You can connect an external optical drive.
You can use another Mac with a good optical drive together with a Firewire cable if both computers have Firewire ports.
You can have someone clone the installer DVD to an 8 GB USB flash drive.
You can take it to an Apple retailer and see if they will install for you.

  • Mac-format to PC-format: How can I get my music off an external hard drive?

I had a mac-formatted iPod for years, and all of my music is on an external hard drive that is hooked up to that computer. When I got a new iPod after mine was stolen, I had to get a PC-formatted iPod. How can I get my music off of the hard drive and onto my PC (and eventually my iPod)? I tried uploading the files into my iTunes account on the Mac, but they don't show up in my account on the PC. Most of the music are CDs that I copied onto my computer years ago, and had on my old iPod. Help!

Your Firefox profile would have the data. You can find it at:
    *C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>
**The file you want is called ''places.sqlite''
You can copy that file if you want to restore your bookmarks to your current Firefox by going back to ''C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>'' and overwriting the current file. Keep in mind, doing this will erase your current bookmarks.

  • With LR5 how can one synchronize work done between a local hard drive and the cloud?

I have the LR5 program on my PC; the data is stored on the computer's hard drive; no problems. In the future if I were to switch to the online LR5 and cloud service could I continue using my PC's hard drive where the photos and catalogs are and have a backup on the Adobe cloud? If yes, is there a way to save all changes to both the local hard drive and cloud? If these two sets of work by synchronized? How does this work?

The Adobe Creative Cloud is not something used with LR how you’re imagining.   CC is a licensing and software-delivery mechanism, not a place to store your current working photos in large numbers or a place to run software from or in.
LR CC is not software run in the cloud via a thin client, it’s still just desktop LR licensed via logging into CC with your AdobeID.
LR and your photos are stored locally just like with the serial-number-licensed LR.  You can sync local photos back and forth to an iPad via the cloud and you can store a few photos or other project-related files in the 2GB cloud storage, but that’s about it for what the cloud adds.

  • 2 computers at home working with the same files i keep on an external hard drive to free up space the internal drives. I have an airport extreme time capsule to back up both computers. how can i get it to back up the hard drive plugged into time capsual?

I want to run both my macbook pro and imac from a single external hard drive.
i bought a time capsual and set it us as my network and plugged my external hard drive into it. so now both my computers can access it and work on the same image and film files. the time capsual does a lovely job of backing up both my computers and my wifes. but i cant get it to back up the external hard drive that is conected to it. ive looked on the forum and it seems to me that its not possible, which seems odd to me that mac would enable you to plug a hard drive into the time capsual but not let you back it up, what is the point in that!?
so my question is can i back up the external hard drive with time machine, and if not how do i set up my home network so that all my computers can access the same files and time machine will back everything up?
I did the upgrade to maverics on my imac which has caused me a major headache as now all my apature albums have been updated to 3.5.1 but my macbook pro can no longer open them because im unable to upgade it to maverics, but thats another story.
If anyone can help me with my time machine issue i would be very greatful.
    many thanks

The TC for whatever it is promoted as,, is still a simple hard disk in a router. It was designed for laptops to use as a backup. A desktop can use a USB drive, faster cheaper and more reliable than a network drive but the laptops need a network wireless storage. Hence the TC. It is NOT nor was it ever designed to do the job you are trying to use it for.. it is not a NAS.. it has no internal backup.
What is more Time Machine has no ability to backup network drives no matter what their format.
So the solution is to either use a real backup software.. eg Carbon Copy Cloner which can do far more than TM can or ever will. It is around $40 so hardly expensive. But since the TC was never designed for it, this will be slow.. and the next question is where are you going to back to. Using the TC as backup location for your files is less than great. Primarily because all your files are still on the same device albeit on different disk. It is also because mixing data and TM backups is not so great. The TC cannot be partitioned although you can alleviate some of the issues..
    See this info.
    Q3 here http://pondini.org/TM/Time_Capsule.html
Let me go back to the question.
so my question is can i back up the external hard drive with time machine, and if not how do i set up my home network so that all my computers can access the same files and time machine will back everything up?
Fundamentally the TC is the wrong place to do this.
The right place is to plug the USB drive into the iMac.. since it is a desktop machine and you are probably not lugging it around. Simply share the USB drive to the network.
The MBP can then access the USB drive, and it will be around twice the speed of networking to the same drive on the TC. TM on the iMac can then also backup the USB drive to the TC as part of the normal TM backups.
The only thing is the iMac needs to be turned on to allow MBP access.

  • How can I get ITunes to install on my D drive

I have a Dell laptop that has been a great computer.  I did not oreder it, but rather purchased it in a store (hence my problem).  The hard drive is partitioned into two drives:  C Drive for the operating system and D Drive for all the data.  I understand why they did it, even though I don't wholey buy into its need......  Anyway, to the ITunes problem.  About a year or so ago, I ran out of room on my C Drive.  I noticed that lots of my programs were installed there.  I deleted many programs and then re-installed and directed them to my D Drive.  One of those programs was ITunes.  However, it repeatedly shows on the C Drive.  I am not talking about my library, as I have it on an external hard drive and know how to point to it.  We have several devices (2-IPhones, 3-IPods and 2-IPads).  Over a period of time the C Drive just gets overloaded.  I have had to completely delete ITunes twice and then re-install it to clear out enough space to run the computer.  VERY, VERY, VERY frustrating.....
I am hoping I am just missing something.  I have read that others have this problem too, but I have yet to see any solid answers on this.  Other than re-partitioning, and I am nervous about that.  t least to do it myself.
Has anybody come up with anything new on this topic?
    Cheers,
    J

    Relocate iOS device backups
Assuming you're running Windows Vista or later you can use the following steps:
Open a command prompt by hitting the start button and typing CMD<Enter> in the search box that opens up.
To move the current backup folder from C: to D: type in this command and press <Enter>
    Move "C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" "D:\Backup"
Where <User> is your Windows user name.
To make iTunes look for the data in the new location type in this command and press <Enter>
    MkLink /J "C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup" "D:\Backup"
If your target drive has a different letter or you already have a folder called "Backup" then edit "D:\Backup" accordingly in both commands.
If you're still running Windows XP you can use Junction (cmd line tool) or NTFSLink (shell ext). In both cases you move the existing folder to a new location, create an empty folder where the old one used to be, then use the tools to get the operating system to link the two together and silently redirect any file operation on the old location through to the new one.
Note that while this method works for iOS device backups it cannot be used to redirect sections of the media library.

  • How can I move iWork 09 to a new hard drive?

Here's the deal: In a last-ditch attempt to fix a vexing problem with a Tascam US-800 audio interface, I have undertaken a clean install of Lion on a fresh hard drive. Because I suspect this problem is caused by some strange issue with my old system (I can't replicate it on a MacBook, for instance), I am migrating everything carefully and manually, reinstalling programs where possible.
Unfortunately, we have managed to misplace the disc for the family pack of iWorks 09 that we bought when my wife got her MacBook back in 2009 (irritatingly enough, I found the sleeve, but the disc is not in it).
I called Apple to see if I could do anything about it, but I have to pay for AppleCare to even talk to them about replacing the disc - which would cost about as much as simply buying the software itself again.
So, my question is this: I have a perfectly usable installation of iWork on the old hard drive. Is there anyway to get that working on the new drive without reinstalling from the disc I no longer appear to have?
    Thanks for any assistance.

No. No proof of purchase, either - unless you count the sleeve the disc came in. We've moved twice since my wife bought the software. There's literally no telling where the disc might be, and I guess there's no serial number associated with the software to prove that it's a legal copy.
I probably will go the MAS route, at least for Pages. I have Office 11, so maybe I'll just make due with Word unless I come across a Pages or Numbers file I absolutely have to open.
This is a definite advertisement for MAS, though. It certainly takes the hassle out of reinstalling apps.
I just hope the clean install fixes my problem with the US-800.

  • HT1270 How can i get an upgrade on my mac hard drive to a bigger one and where?

I need help on upgrading my hard drive on my 11 inch macbook air to a bigger size, where do i get that kinda help?

The Air doesnt have a hard drive, rather a SSD,  the largest is a 512GB SSD, which is very expensive.
OWC (other world computing) sells them.
However your notebook is not a storage device, consider offloading static files to an external HD, as it needs to be the case regardless for data backups .

  • How to install a new hard drive without bootable disc/usb

Hi- my hard drive has totally failed and although I can get into disk utility it won't let me create images and keeps coming up with input/output errors when I try.
I don't have another mac to work from and have no discs whatsoever even for older OS versions
I've ordered a new hard drive(a seagate 750GB 7400rpm one) but how do I get mountain lion on the new hard drive without any discs? If I just put in my new hard drive will it come up with an option? I have a mid 2009 MBP if that helps

I have a mid 2009 MBP if that helps
    Here is how it helps:
You need the Utilities from Recovery_HD. Your broken Mac can boot from a Thumb drive.
Use this article to download this Utility to copy the Recovery_HD from your older, working Mac to a minimum 1GB USB thumb drive:
OS X: About Recovery Disk Assistant
Then boot the new mac with the thumb drive by holding down Alt/Option, wait wait wait while it draws an Icon for each bootable Volume, choose the Recovery_HD, choose proceed arrow, and use Disk Utility to erase the drive and create GUID partition Map, 1 partition, Mac OS X Extended (journaled). Then install Mac OS X by download.

  • Installing a new hard drive.  How to make installer dvd from current OS

I have a iMac G5 (PPC).  2004 when I got it.  And have the original HD.  150 GB.  Following Murphy's Law this HD is due for failure.  I have bought a 1 TB. new hard drive to install on this machine.  I forgot which OS came with it (10.3) I think. My set up is that I back up my iMac G5 (PPC) to a external Hard drive (300GB) with Time Machine. I have updated thru software update to 10.5.8.  But have no DVD installer for 10.5.8.
How can I make an installer for my new hard drive?  Or should I partition new 1TB hard drive with the same amount of space as my time machine back up?  I may not put everything on current system on new drive.

If the old harddrive is working, why don't you copy the old to the new?
In Leopard, you can resize partitions without loosing data.
Here are two utilities for making a complete backup of your internal hard drive.  I've recommend using one of these so that you can create a bootable system  on your external hard drive. ( PPC require a firewire connected drive. )  Once created, you can run your system from the external drive.  Hold down the option key on your keyboard then power on your machine.  This will bring you in startup manager click on the drive image you wish to boot then click on the arrow key to the right.
