I have a hard time understanding why I can't contact support about THEIR problem. I plugged my iPhone into my pc. iTunes came up. It said there was an update available for the phone. I accepted that. Clicked on the "download only" because I didn't have the time to install it at that point. It downloaded but didn't stop. It continued to the 'backing up your iPhone' segment then froze. I waited at least an hour with no change. Finally I unplugged my phone..iTunes wasn't responding.I rebooted my pc then tried the same thing again. Same outcome even though I let it "Back Up" for 7-8 hrs while I slept. Same Story............... iTunes 10.4.0.80 is the software I'm using. When my phone is 'plugged' in what I see on it's face is "Sync in Progress".....for hours!

Have a similar problem. This MacBook opened all MS Office programs in Dec2012 but no longer does in Feb2013. Went to Microsoft/mac/downloads but none of the three updates would run citing a problem "version of software needed to run this update was not found on this volume".

I went to back up my iPhone4 and it said there was an update. So I clicked on 'update and backup' (or something close to that.) It took FOREVER...way longer than usual. When it was done, it showed the power cord w/an arrow to iTunes. ***??? I restarted my computer and tried the whole process again and still...the power cord with an arrow to iTunes. And I know this means I have to go to Apple and get another phone and will lose anything that wasn't backed up. Anyone else have this happen or have a solution so I don't have to do a restore???
Reboot your computer.
Disable your antivirus and firewall.
Connect the phone to a USB port directly on your computer, not to a hub. If your computer is not a laptop and has ports on both front and back use a port on the back.
If iTunes does not recognize the phone when you connect it see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If it STILL doesn't work open a command window and type:
netsh winsock reset
Then try again. (It seems that a recent Microsoft Windows update may have corrupted network settings; this restores them to the factory default).
BTW, was there an error number associated with the failed update? -
I need help, I pluged my iphone to itunes and got a message that said there was an update to download and update, I did but when itunes was rebooting and updating I got an error message. and now the phone is telling me that it cant be activated, to plug it in to itunes or to contact support care.
That message usually indicates that your phone was hacked to unlock it from the original phone carrier, then when you updated or restored it locked back to that carrier.

Hi, I have an iPod touch 2G with an iOS of 4.2.1 and there are no updates available for my device, I want to download an older version of iBooks that is compatible with my device. Pls what can I do?
- The 2G iPod can only go as high as iOS 4.2.1. It does not have the hardware to support a higher iOS version.
- Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.
- You can only download the current version from the App store. -

Thanks CI also had issues with my 4S. I just got the 5S and can't get it to read my phone. It did it once and I was able to download my music, but can't get my ringtones and i have 25 ringtones that I can no longer get to after paying for them!!! Please HELP. It no longer sees my phone. I have uninstalled and reinstalled I Tunes mltiple times.

"Check for updates" tells me there is no update available for 3.6.8.
On Thursday, I did a "Check for Updates" from my dev box and found there was an update. Since I was in the middle of something, I decided I would wait until done to install the update. Many hours later, I was ready and did "Check for Updates" again. This time I got "No updates found". So, I did some searching to make sure there was indeed a 3.6.9 update released, restarted the browser (still no update found), then rebooted the computer (still no update found), tried "Check for Updates" from a couple different computers on my network (all running 3.6.8) and always get "No Update Found". Checking what appears to be the update service at aus2.mozilla.org leads me to believe "No Updates Found" is the correct response but I know it said there was an update the first time I checked. What happened? Is it possible I'm having a DNS issue and hitting an old update server?
There is no problem updating Firefox, the problem is just that the Firefox update service is responding to the "Check for Updates" request with a response that says there are no updates available (the xml response that was being sent back on Thursday indicating there was an update is now just coming back as an empty "update" element - <update></update>) . It's probably something pretty simple but only someone with access to the datastore being used by the update service will be able to verify and fix it. The other option (that a lot of people are hitting an old update service because of DNS or other network changes) seems unlikely.

My Ipad said there was an update. It asked for a network name and i typed my e-mail network name and password. Now I have a locked frame where it says Another network - name (my network name) safety - WPA2 password - my internet password. Now it is frozen - when i press button it says Ipad not adjusted - continue? and nothing happens alt all. I can't get away from this screen. Please help
Try to reset the device:
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally. -

Hui with usThere are always localisation differences between all the various versions, such as language sets etc. They have to start somewhere and work through the list. In any case, phasing the update will also reduce the load on the update servers. Imagine what it would be like if every Lumia in every corner of the earth tried to update at the ame time.

My iPad keeps saying there is an update available for my carrier settings
Hi There,
No matter how many times I update my carrier settings, my iPad keeps saying there is an update available. For the past 30 minuets, I have sat and clicked check for update repeatadly, but still it says there is an update available.
I am thinking there is something wrong with my iPad, that maybe it isn't installing the update correctly or something.
What could be going on here?

I conected my iphone 3gs to Itunes It says there was an update so i agreed it also recommended I do a back up so I agreed. then half way through the process it failed and a message popped up saying unable to contact server try again later. and alls I have on the phone now is a picture indicating to plug into itunes.
