I have a HP C4180 that I purchased when I went to U.K. and now that I'm back in the U.S.  I can't use the cartridge #343 or 337. Do I have to download the U.S driver version for the C4180 so it will accept the compatible ink here in the U.s.?

You will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work.  HP's web page on the subject is here.  You do NOT need to change your driver, and doing so would not help.
