I have a HP Laserjet P1102w printer hooked up to the USB port of my Airport Extreme. I'm able to print to the printer wirelessly from my MacBook Pro. My iPad (2nd gen) can't find the printer. What do I need to do?
My iPad is on the same network as the Airport Extreme. The HP printer is on the list of Airprint printers but I'm not using it as a wireless printer, per se, as it's hooked up to the USB port on the Airport Extreme.
I installed the HP ePrint app on my iPad. Unfortunately, the app could not find the printer either.
As mentioned earlier, I'm able to print wirelessly to the HP printer via my MacBook Pro.

Not necessarily. AirPrint uses a protocol separate from the communication protocol used for the Extreme's USB port. The HP printer may disable AirPrint when its USB port connected to a valid device, which is my reason for recommending you use it wirelessly.
From AirPrint Basics:
AirPrint printers connected using Bluetooth or shared through a USB port of a Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station, or Time Capsule are not supported.
AirPrint printers connected by Ethernet are supported in OS X.

HP's Mac support has always been miserable though. I have been much happier since I abandoned HP and started buying Brother printers. They just work.

Apparently I cannot use this brand new 1TB G-DRIVE Mini in the USB port of my AirPort Extreme?
Even though an Apple "Genius" said I can. Seems to not be getting enough power, maybe. Why do they feature pictures of these G-Drives as examples for using this feature??? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong? When I connect it directly to my MacBook Pro it works fine, but when I plug it into the USB port on the AEBS it makes kind of a weak clicking noise and never shows up. I have a 500GB Western Digital PassBook that works fine for this purpose, so at least that one is getting enough power from the USB on the AEBS.
Thanks Bob, I actually found some of your advice for someone else with a similar issue during my research! I can see where a powered USB hub would probably help, considering it does seem like insufficient power (the weak clicking). And I do have it formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I guess I was just wishfully thinking the problem would be something else, because I know it supplies enough power for a lot of other external drives, including my WD.
But as a final rant...seriously, why do they have a nice picture of an airport extreme with a G-drive where they advertise this feature. That's just annoying and misleading. And the people at the Apple store need to be better informed and more knowledgeable on the products they recommend and sell to customers. -

Is there a cd that came with the printer?
If so, put in the cd and that will help you set it up.
If not, I think macs come with a program that helps you set up printers.
Also make sure that the printer is connected to the same network.
Make sure the printer is on. -
How can I set up multiple spaces (desktops) on my new MacBook Pro 10.9.5? I have six set up on my other computer MacBook Pro 10.8.5 but can't find how to do it on this new one. Would appreciate help on this. Cheers.
It's not completely obvious. What you have to do in Spaces is to position your cursor to the upper right of the screen, after which faint + (plus) sign appears in that area. Click that, upon which another Desktop will appear.

If you still have the receipt or other proof of purchase, you can ask Apple to send you the serial. Otherwise, bad luck mate.. Good news is, you can now buy Logic Pro 9 from App Store for just 199 USD

Its no longer visible to the user. You can go to the folder by using the Go to Folder using username/library using the go to folder option to the right of the Finder labeled Go, then Go to Folder. Then you can see the contents of the user library folder. -
Is it possible to print from Windows 8.1 to a printer connected to the USB port on an Airport Express?
a) HP printer with USB port only (no ethernet port) connected to Airport Express
b) No issue printing from Macs
Tests
1) Installed Bonjour 2 - does not find printer (now uninstalled)
2) Bonjour 3 is listed in programs but no way to access
3) Using TCPIP address (and no Bonjour) gives 'Unsupported Personality' error when printing test page

p.s. why are all Windows 8.1 questios n the forum 'Locked' with no reply?This is possible, but not with Bonjour or any other fixes. It is just a printer set up based on the Port name of the Airport, 10.0.1.1.

I would like to copy my iPhoto (9.4.1) library from my Mac Pro (10.7.5) to a Macbook Pro (10.7.5). Can I drag the iPhoto Library from the Pictures folder to Air Drop and send them to the MacBook? If I then move that to the Pictures folder on the MacBook will that then be a usable iPhoto library on the Macbook?
It would be better if you could connect the two Macs via a hard wired LAN to copy the library from the Mac Pro to the MacBook. Wireless connections can have momentary dropouts which could affect the reliable copying of files.
If you do go with Air Drop be sure to open and inspect the copied library closely to confirm it was a successulf copy.

I've encountered this error myself upon occasion. If I remember correctly, it was a permissions/ownership issue with the some of the files I was copying. -

Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.

It looks like you may need a mini-displayport to Displayport cable. You can also try holding the option key while clicking on "scaled" to see if the option you need comes up.
