I have a imac a1058 2ghz PPC 2g ram, Finder crashes

Question

Finder crashes. after just a few clicks. No applications will open. I just zero'd out the hard drive and reinstalled 10.4.3 from the factory disc's. I have to skip the registration or it crashes. when I start up you can look in the computer but you can't click on anything without crashing. I did a hardware test and everything shows good. I have repaired permissions, and I have SMART shows verified. Im going nuts. I have a iMac a1174 20" intel that is doing the same exact thing.

Can you disable the Wifi Router & such for a try?
Do you have the Apple Hardware Test Disc that came with it? If so run the Extended tests.
Or...
  1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
   2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
      *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
   3. Click the Erase tab.
   4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
   5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
   6. Highlight the drive, select Partition Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data, Erase, one pass... after completion hopefully you'll be able to get a good install.
