Import the music to iTunes and sync it using iTunes.

I just purchased a new macbookpro and I would like to put the music from my iphone to my macbook.  I have downloaded from iTunes, however it want to add ALL music to my macbook.

When you plug in the iPhone, go to the menu bar and select "Transfer all purchases" to move them to your MacBook Pro.
If that doesn't work. Go here for a whole list of Apps that can help you.
I personally like Music Rescue the most.  You can get it here and use the License Key that they give out for FREE now.

  • HT1386 I have an older ipod classic with tons of music I collected over several years.  I want to add the music from this to my itunes library.  When I connect it, I don't see that option. How can I do this?

I have an older ipod classic that I have had for about 5-6 years.  I used this to download music from cd's through an older computer that doesn't work anymore.  I want to add the music to my current computer I-tune library, but can't figure out how to do it.  How do I import this music from my older itunes ipod so that I can then sync some of it with my iphone.  Hate to lose all of this music since it took me years to collect and download it.

  • Got a new i Pod Touch and want to transfer all music from old Touch.

Bought my son a new iPod Touch for Chistmas (8 g version) and we want to get all his music off his old Touch onto the new one. How do we do that?

    OK here's how.
Sync the older iPod to iTunes using his computer with his account logged in(if he has one)
After that, sync the new iPod into that iTunes account. After doing the set up of the iPod in iTunes, you select set up from the backup of xxx-your sons iPod name.  Then its done!
Or, you can set up the device directly on the iPod itself and enter his Apple ID.

  • Transfer all music from PC to iTunes, but add file to library only does one album at a time

I want to add all music on my PC to iTunes, but if I go to the menu and add file to library I would have to do this for each album individually and i have well over 100 albums.  That is way too time consuming.
Is there a way for it to search automatically?

Enable the menu bar with CTRL+B or open temporarily with ALT, then use File > Add folder to library.

  • Mac Book wants to clear current music from I tunes

Just bought a Mac Book and iTouch. The Touch set up on my current I Mac was seamless. When I attempt to syn music from Touch to my Mac Book, msg asks if "I want to erase all music from Touch and replace with music from this i Tunes library". Also states that more than one account is using iTunes and won't allow the music move. Calendar, contacts and bookmarks are fine. Stumped! Finally got so frustrated, moved music using a thumb drive.
Also, (different subject) can I move or sync my movies from iDVD to my Touch? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you trying to sync your music from your iPod down to your new computer? You won't be able to do that. You can only go from the computer to the iPod with the exception of music that was purchased via the iTunes Store; you can transfer that from the iPod to the computer by ctrl-clicking on the device name in iTunes and selecting "Transfer Purchases."
To transfer everything from your iPod to your new hard drive, you would need third party software. Senuti is one that I've heard recommended for Macs.
Regarding the message that more than one account is using iTunes... are you logged into iTunes with the same account that you were using on your old computer?

    the current lists
    Any help appreciated

If its never been synced to this particular computer then by default that is true.
iTunes will only let you sync to one library at a time, if you get this warning message, follow this:

Try using RecBoot to kick it out of recovery mode. If that does not work, try a manual install, as outlined in link below. If it STILL keeps entering recovery mode, you most likely need a new logic board.

  • Can I access my husband's iTunes acct. from my iPad?  I have his permission & pass code.  We want to keep all music in one place & family accessible.

Can I access my husband's iTunes acct. from my iPad?  i have his permission & pass code.  We want to keep all music in one place & family accessible.

If you log into his account and download some of his past purchases on your iPad then you risk tying your iPad to his account for 90 days : iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
But it looks like that might change when iOS 8 is released in the Autumn (no date has been announced yet) : http://www.apple.com/ios/ios8/family-sharing/
If you have his content in your computer's iTunes library then you could sync it from there instead of risking the 90 days association on your iPad. If you don't then you could copy it from his computer and then sync it to your iPad e.g. copy his music to a flash drive and then add it to your library via File > Add To Library

Connect the old phone to your computer, right click on it in iTunes, and choose Transfer Purchases. That should put all of your music in iTunes except any tracks that were not purchased from iTunes. If you have any such you will have to retrieve them from the original source, or see: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.
Apple also has this tip for copying data from an old phone to a new one.

You might want a more Mac-centric version of that post which is directed more at Windows users.
iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here (you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well):

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
