I have a mac book pro 2010 and when i turn it on i get the gray apple logo and a spinning wheel.
it acts like it's going to download, but gets halfway through and turns back off. i've tried to put it in safe mode by holding the shift button down, but it wont do anything..
Use the original installation disk and get into Disk Utility.
Insert the DVD in your MBP as if you will be installing the OSX.
When you get to a display where there is a menu bar on top, click on UTILITIES.
From the drop down menu, select Disk Utility.
Op[en Disk Utility.First Aid and run Verify and Repair.

I am trying to connect my laptop to my TV. The computer flashes blue after I plug the cable in but the TV says there is no signal.

This was happening to mine as well and I had to take it in a few times and they had to wipe it completely. If your computer is more that 5 years old, it may be that it is time for a new one. I suggest taking it in so they can diagnose it!

Please help. I have a Mac Book Pro ( late 2007- A1226) that I want to install Windows 7 ultimate on. I have boot camp 3.0 and I can set up the partition but when i click start installation, I get a black screen ( for a few seconds) then it goes to a grey window, which alternates between flashing the apple symbol and a circle with line through it. It will do this for however long I let it go for.
Would it be better for me to buy parallels software than keep persisting with this avenue.First, make sure you ONLY have the wired Apple Keyboard and wired mouse connected.
You should have BootCamp Asst. 3.3 or 3.4 now I believe is the latest version.
Do you have the W7 disk or ISO download version?

I own a mac book pro 13" and I use parallels for work and desperately need the "pause" key that used to be on my PC. It is the equivalent of the f15 key. My keyboard only goes up to f12 and I have looked in here and on google and can't figure it out. doesn't anyone have ideas?

Why won't my Apple monitor stay on with my mac book pro?
I know there were many more problems 5 yrs ago with 3rd party monitors and have been some issues in between also.
Apple does have what is needed to use multiple 30 inch displays and the 5770 is pretty mainstream and standard.
It is also about the only card being sold outside ebay and a couple places in case you want to take your chances with Nvidia 8800GT 1st gen model or ATI 4870.

I rented a movie through ITunes on my I-pad. I'd now like to play it on my big screen TV. I do not have the cables to connect the I-pad to the TV, but I do have the cables to connect my MacBook Pro laptop to the TV. How do I get the movie from the I-pad to the laptop. It does not come up anywhere on the Itunes application on my laptop.

I have a Macbook Pro from 2007 and run Mac OS Lion. Today it froze and when I tried to restart after log in it just freezes and does not open? Can anybody help?
GunillaFirst thing to try, reboot from the Mac OS X install disk that came with your machine. When it starts up, select your language, then choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard drive in the list and then, in the First Aid tab, click Repair Disk (NOT Repair Disk Permissions). If there were problems that were repaired, try rebooting again and see if the problem is gone.
Alternately, if you have upgraded that machine to Lion (Mac OS X 10.7), you can hold down command-R at startup to enter recovery mode, and then open Disk Utility from there and do the same repairs.
Let us know what the results are for further assistance, if the problems continue after repairing. -

hi there I have a mac book pro 2010 and have an issue, the computer appears to be running fine in most ways but key board wont illimuminate anymore and it says I have 0 percent battery level and yet it stays running while plugged, also the cd drive wont take cds...I tried the smc reset nothing happend... can anyone help?!?!
It sounds like your charger cord is not charging, but still powering the computer. The problem could be either the charger cord itself or the power supply unit inside the computer. Do you have an amber light on the mag-safe detector when it is supposed to be charging? The easiest way to check is if you have another power cord that can be plugged into the computer. If you don't, your next best option is to take it into an Apple store and the Genius Bar. They can determine in a few seconds what the problem is. The same thing happened to my 2010 MBP. I was convinced that the charger cord was working fine and that they would have to replace the motherboard. The Genius bar found that it was indeed the charger and replaced it at their expense.

Sadly I had the partition set up at a store that should have known what they were doing (NOT an apple store, but a certified store that carries only Apple products), anyway.. I am now at the point where my bootcamp is full. I've tried reading a number of posts, but some things apply to me, some things don't so here is my situation:

I purchased Camptunes by Paragon and tried repartioning my drive that way. It looked like it was going to work until the following error message happend:
Windows filesystem verification failed. Please, repair Windows volume and try again. Windows is not letting me do this because I don't have enough room. Round and round the problem goes.
Initially when I was trying to clear out my Windows side I found a bulky .NET program I wanted to delete. It would not delete it for me (I can retry to look for that error message), but essentially it wouldn't delete it at all. I have no temporary internet files I can delete, cookies or other programs (except my printer drivers), but essentially - I can't figure out what to do next.
I read another post about a person who didn't want to backup their files first. This is not me. I do back up to a LACIE back up drive that has a 999.86 GB capacity with 872.11GB free. What I want to know is do I have to buy another back up to keep it all completely separate? What other program do you recommend to create a virtual drive? Can I get a step by step on what to do? I have the original windows disk if that helps in the equasion.....

Try restarting while holding down the Option key. That should prompt the startup manager window where you can select the startup disk and reboot.
Then try reformatting (erase) using OS X Recovery About OS X Recovery
Keep in mind, Apple does recommend a high speed broadband internet connection for OS X Recovery. A slow connection may time out before recovery is finished. -
Is the corsair DDR3 16GB 1333 SO-D KIT compatible with the Mac Book pro 2010?
I'm upgrading my Mac book pro 2010 and was wandering if this ram works. I already tried the PNY 8gb ram, but snow leopard wouldn't install with it.
I'm pretty sure it can take 16GB fine, after all Apple has said up to this day that non-Retina Macs can't do so much RAM yet here we are, a whole bunch of happy 16GB users (hint: my Mac is carring the Corsair CMSA16GX3M2A1333C9 kit).
However, stedman is right. Your Mac uses 1066MHz RAM, the 1333 MHz RAM is for 2011 models. -

I just recently updated to the OS X soft wear and every time I go on iPhoto or iMessage my computer shuts down. This problem doesn't occur when I log into my laptop as a guest. I have a Mac book pro made in 2010.

I have a Mac Book Pro with a 320hdd, 2.33 processor, 8 gigs of RAM and OS X 10.9.4 . My hdd crashed and I cannot access it so is it possible to install a 1 terabyte drive with the operating software already installed and also upgrade my RAM to 16 gigs?
If I were you I'd install a small SSD as the boot drive from OWC:

Then put a second large conventional drive either in the optical bay (Data Doubler) or in an external.
You don't say which MBP you have: Size, CPU type.
Also when you upgrade you could see if you can salvage your data from your old HD. Can you hear it spin up? If so Data Rescue IV.
