I have a mac mini server, all clients are lion and need to reinstall OSX10.6b on the server, there is not remote install on lion clients, any work arounds?
The onjly thing I can think of is dual boot one client machine in to OSX10.6, but is there a anther work around?

You should have a backup of your servers regardless of circumstances. You would then be able to restore the server software.
When Apple repair machines they will often just swap it or swap the hard disk and will not make any effort to transfer your files. They assume you are doing a backup. Anybody running servers absolutely has a responsibility to ensure they have aduequate backups even more than 'normal' users. While Time Machine may not be wholely suitable for backing up servers Time Machine is so simple even normal users can use it and therefore no longer have any excuse for not doing backups.

I have nine, 1-page PDF files that are accessible and need to combine into 1 PDF file. I have tried appending, adding and the combine PDFs process. The file created is not keeping my changes. The created file is partially accessible but I have to re-fix issues I had fixed in the single files. I need suggestions on what else can be done if any. Using Acrobat pro XI.
Out of habit, I tend to combine PDF files in the Page Thumbnails pane by right-click then "Insert Pages" -> "From File". For me, this preserves the tags from both documents, although the tags may have to be moved into the right location (if I recall correctly the tags for the inserted pages get put at the end of the tag structure, regardless of where the pages are inserted), If I first put the tags for the document to be inserted inside a container tag like Section, it makes the process easier. Moving that set of tags to the right place is the only re-fixing that I recall having to do. What behavior are you experiencing?

It's difficult to say whether your Mac will run Lion, and hence iCloud, without knowing the specifications. The specifications required for Lion are as follows:
An Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later to install via the Mac App Store (v10.6.8 recommended); you can install without Mac OS X v10.6 by using an OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive, available on the Apple Online Store
7 GB of available disk space
2 GB of RAM
However, it is sometimes simpler just to try to purchase Lion from the Mac App Store, the Mac App Store will let you know whether your Mac is capable of running Lion. -
Hello, my mac mini has suddenly started displaying a warning sign when I wake it up..saying I didn't properly "eject" a device... It is referring to my external/backup hd {on which I store music files, photos, back up files, etc}. It has never happened until yesterday... and I have had the hd hooked up for over a year. Each night I just put my mini to sleep and when it wakes in the morning everything is fine... the only time I ever disconnect the external hd is when I completely shut down or unplug...the procedure then has been to turn off the mini...then disconnect the external hd and unplug it. This has always worked fine, then suddenly it says I haven't properly disconnected the external hd... I don't know what to do... am I supposed to use the eject button now before I shut down...and how can I do that... it will state that it is not able to be ejected because it is in use {the rotating photos in my monitor background are stored on the external hd}. I am puzzled... don't want to lose the info on my external hd...but I need to be able to put my mini to sleep. Help, please.
Have the pics allways been used off the external drive?
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
Is Spotlight indexing that drive, or is it used by Time Machine? -
A mini mac used for building sits in the data center normally we access via VNC network connection.
I want to have "console" access to shutdown and reboot system.
Reason. Updated to Mountain Lion OS X from 10.7.x and lost VNC connections, now host is down with no physical access.
Alternate is to call data center and see if someone can cycls the power ?As mentioned by Linc there is no 'lights out' management for the Mac mini (or any current Mac). If the Mac is still running you can initiate a reboot via the GUI or commandline. If however it is completely crashed then there is a solution you could consider which is to get a managed power distribution strip. With this the power strip has its own network connection and lets you remotely turn off (and on) individual power sockets. This would then let you 'hard reboot' the Mac mini even if crashed.

Mac mini server won't reboot after Installing security update 2010-003

After updating to Snow Leopard Server 10.6.3 and attempting to reboot, the mac mini (HDMI) hangs on the gray apple logo with progress spinning. It takes me several times to force the mac mini to power down and try again, before it finally loads the login screen.

So it's hanging while starting services, it looks like, the firewall in particular, have you tried a safe boot?
If not, hold down the shift key right after you hear the power-on chime, keep holding it till you see a spinning gear.
This boots up without extra kernel extensions and fonts, clears font caches, and runs a disk verify and a repair if needed. If you still can't boot reliably in safe mode, you may need to run an archive/install. -
I am trying to include a Mac Mini with a webcam/microphone to call several family iPhones 4S/5 usisng email addresses vice phone numbers so that we can communicate from outside the US via iPhone to the US (Mac Mini) via wi-fi and email addresses. We are using the same email address for the Mac Mini as for Itunes and made new email addresses for each of the iPhones. I cannot receive calls from the iPhones but can call the iPhones from the Mac Mini. what needs to be corrected?

Un-installing/Re-installing CS3
