I have a mac os 10.6, photosmart hp c4795 and error message says offline.
I did get a new Netgear router and feel like things with the printer went haywire from that time. When I open up the printer device info, everything says "unknown" and the wirelessly connected printer has a searching status. I renewed my DCHP status lease under apple>System pref>network>advanced>TCIP, this did not work. I removed the printer and attempted to add again but ended up renaming and this printer icon looks different. Now after adding it and a manual ip address found under network it continuously searches for that IP and never prints....Please help. I feel like I just need to somehow remove all the printers and start all over.

Yup, restarting over is a good idea.
First, on the printer front panel go to Setup [Scan] > WIreless > Restore Defaults.
Next, on your Mac, reset the printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
If you have the right software for 10.6 (not on the CD, by the way), open Applications > HP > C4700 Series > Printer Setup and Software. Run it.

I updated to iTunes 12 and didn't like it. Followed advice to revert to 11.1. Now my iPhone 5 won't sync and error message says I need iTunes 11.2 or higher. Apple Download choices didn't have anything between 11.1.5 and 12. What can I do? Using iTunes 12 is not an option. Many features I used for audiobooks have disappeared.

I tried to sync my Macbook Pro photos in iPhoto with my iPod Touch. I have done this numerous times, but today I got an error message saying the required file cannot be found. At the same time all of my photos on my iPod vanished. Can anyone help me?

On my photosmart C4200 series printer, error message says USB not connected
I have a hp photosmart C4200 series it's saying the USB not connected. I made sure all connections were secure and still same message. I unplugged it and then plugged back in at tower and printer, still same. I changed out cable, still same problem. Is there anything else I can do aside from buying a new printer? Thanks, Jenn

I noticed that you are getting the error message that says your USB is not connected with your HP Photosmart c4200 series.
For further assistance, I will need some more information:
The Product/Model Number of your printer. Follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number.
If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
If the printer is able to make copies.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.

This is the error message I get when I try and open Firefox:

Please check this against your installation diskette.''wsock32.dll is a Windows System file which is used to connect to the internet. if you are seeing this error message then its probably because either your Antivirus program might have moved this file to the Virus Chest or this file was Deleted mistakenly. Try Restoring this file from your Anti Virus software or check if it is still available in the Recycle Bin folder.

iPad 3 and iPhone 4S won't synch with iTunes on Mac book pro. Error message says I need to have version 10.6.3 or later for iTunes. Mac iOS version 10.5.8 and iTunes on Mac is 10.6.1. iPad and iPhone version is 6.0(10A403). When I check for updates on the Mac book pro it says software versions are up to date.
When I check for iTunes version 10.6.3 it looks like it is for snow leopard operating system which I am not on. How to I get my devices to sync with computer. Everything worked prior to iOS 6 upgrade on remote devices.I'm having the same problem.

Do I really have to update my Mac OS to 10.6.8 in order to sync my phone ? I thought as long as you have iTunes 10.6.3 you're ok...
Is there a way to update to Mac OS 10.6.8 (or later) without wiping the hard drive and doing a new install?..

I have a Mac Book Pro with 10.6.8 and want to back up my files using a flash drive. It says I did it but when I tried to check on my other Mac - an I Mac with 10.5.8, thedata does not seem to be there. I cant see photos, etc.. It shows the backup as a file and shows various system info. but there are no photos or other files shown.

MikeA PowerPC Mac, if that's what it is, won't be able to see an Intel Mac's formatted data. Also ExFat formatting is not supported by 10.6.3 or earlier. I would try viewing the backup on another Intel Mac with at least 10.6.4. If it isn't there, then the backup never really took place. I much profer a hard drive with Carbon Copy Cloner.

iOS 6 (which runs on the iPhone 5) requires iTunes 10.7, which requires OS X 10.6.8 or higher.

I have a mac OSX desktop version 10.6.8 and all of a sudden I can't get a full screen view in Safari when I ask for help the response is use the arrows on the top right of the screen ... I don't have them ... can anyone help?

I have 10.6.8, as you do. To make your Safari full screen, make sure you have the left hand side of your safari page moved all the way to the left. Then move your cursor to the BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER of the safari page, and simply drag your page towards the lower right hand corner of the screen. NOTE: you will see a series of lines on the bottom right corner of the page, indicating where to place you cursor arrow.

I have a Mac running OS X 10.6.8 and have installed all updates and have disabled Java Applets. Do I need to install antivirus software and, if so, do you have a recommendation on what works best.
Mac OS X versions 10.6.7 and later have built-in detection of known Mac malware in downloaded files. The recognition database is automatically updated once a day; however, you shouldn't rely on it, because the attackers are always at least a day ahead of the defenders. In most cases, there’s no benefit from any other automated protection against malware.
The most effective defense against malware is your own intelligence. All known malware that affects a fully-updated installation of Mac OS X 10.6 or later takes the form of trojans, which can only work if the victim is duped into running them. If you're smarter than the malware attacker thinks you are, you won't be duped. That means, primarily, that you never install software from an untrustworthy source. How do you know a source is untrustworthy?
Any website that prompts you to install a “codec,” “plug-in,” or “certificate” that comes from that same site, or an unknown site, merely in order to use the site, is untrustworthy.
A web operator who tells you that you have a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with your computer, or that you have won a prize in a contest you never entered, is trying to commit a crime with you as the victim.
“Cracked” versions of commercial software downloaded from a bittorrent are likely to be infected.
Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must be downloaded directly from the developer’s website. No intermediary is acceptable.
Disable Java (not JavaScript) in your web browser(s). Few websites have Java content nowadays, so you won’t be missing much. This setting is mandatory in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier, because Java in those versions has bugs that make it unsafe to use on the Internet. Those bugs will probably never be fixed, because those older operating systems are no longer being maintained by Apple. Migrate to a newer version of the Mac OS as soon as you can.
Follow these guidelines, and you’ll be as safe from malware as you can reasonably be.
Never install any commercial "anti-virus" products for the Mac, as they all do more harm than good. If you need to be able to detect Windows malware in your files, use ClamXav — nothing else. -

What machine are you running on?
As far as I recall, Snow Leopard's memory requirements were 1GB of RAM. All Intel-based Macs have shipped with at least that much, so I don't understand how you have a machine that doesn't have enough memory.
