I have a MacBook Air, my iMovie is not responding... how do I make it work?

My MacBook Air, was bought less than 4 months ago. I have been able to use imovie for the past 2-3 months. But now, the iMovie application is not responding. I have tried again and again. I shut down the Macbook Air. I restarted it and it just does not respond. My MacBook is up to date, but iMovie does not respond.

Start the computer in safe mode and see if iMovie opens. If it works you may want to remove unnecessary login items.

it all depends on what's running in the macbook air that causes it to heat up.
open activity monitor - change my processes to all processes - and on the %CPU, click it twice and see what running using 10% and above in the %CPU section.
highlight anything that are using high CPU percentage and hit quit process. see if that brings the temperature back down to normal.
screenshot below is my activity monitor - have a look at it - nothing over 10% on the %CPU section.

On Mavericks, Safari 7 allows you to select from the Safari menu, Reset… Here is how I have mine configured. One button zap.
In Safari Preferences Privacy, there is a Remove All Website Data… for Cookies and other website data. That is handled via the Reset selection. In Safari Preferences Advanced, there is also the ability to enable the Developer menu bar item, and in its menu hierarchy is the ability to further Empty caches.

hey zyzzyxx, you're not the only one with this issue. it happens to me too. as soon as i unplug my cintiq via thunderbolt display my connection shoots straight back to having 20mbps down. i checked it using a speedtest.
ever find a fix for it?

Dropped mid 2013 macbook air keyboard and trackpad not responding

My laptop slid off of my desk and onto the floor earlier this week. After checking to see if everything was okay- it was not!
My trackpad and keyboard are now unresponsive.
Macbook keeps searching for an external keyboard/ mouse.
Some reviews say to remove the back case of the laptop and make sure everything is plugged in. Other reviews say to reset SMC and NVRAM. I am currently backing everything up , but which route is best for a dropped laptop?

Take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center to see if it is salvageable. Sounds like it's very likely not salvageable.
Hopefully you have a good backup, created before this catastrophe.

I have a macbook air bought in 2010. It has liquid damage that might or might not affected the SSD card. I need the data on my SSD card for work and I need it urgently. Apparently Apple won't get the data out, even if I have apple care... Licensed apple dealers need to have the same macbook air model so they can insert the SSD card and check whether the data is there, and they never seem to have one...
I'm really disappointed with apple. It's been two weeks and I haven't been able to find out whether the SSD card is holding my data. It can't take that long to do it in store... How can they sell a product and then wash their hands on the matter?
Anyway, enough with the apple rant. I need to get this data urgently so I need to find out how I can get it out of the card. The SSD card and data might be fine so I don't want to take it to a data recovery centre and get charged loads.

Take it to a Genius Bar for an evaluation and repair estimate.

You can only buy content from your own country's store i.e. the Egyptian store if you are in Egypt - you need to be in a country to use its store, so to use the US store you will need to be in the US and have a US billing address on your account. If there is an app or any other item that you would like to be buy that isn't currently available in the Egyptian store then you can try requesting that it be added, but unless the app's developer or rights-holder agrees to it then Apple won't be able to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

I was so frustated from this issue that I used to use Windows iTunes for mass editing info, adding Lyrics etc and then transfering songs to Mac. This tip has alleviated my pain!!
