i have a macbook pro 15" retine, late 2013, should i upgrade OS to Yosemite ?

I suggest that you partition your storage and install Yosemite on the new partition and try it out.  That way you can revert to the prior OSX if you feel it is not worth it.  You also could install it on an external HDD and test it that way.
Ciao.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I'm not sure how to connect to the monitor as the only ports available on this model mac are Thunderbolt. The mini display to display cable supplied doesn't seem to work out of the TB port. Do I need to use a Thunderbolt cable + an adaptor?

  • MacBook Pro 13" Retina late 2013?

    Hi all!
I'm a Graphic Designer who will be going to college in a few months so i was thinking about buying a laptop. I already have an iMac but obviously i couldn't take that to college everyday ha! So i've been looking at the new MacBook Pro 13" Retina late 2013 with 256GB flash storage priced at £1,249.00. I was just wondering how the laptop would cope running photoshop all the time and if it would be slow etc. Would anyone recommend it and Is it a good laptop for a designer?
    Thanks,

  • The Macbook Pro 13 Retina late 2013 heat sink

Did any body notice the unusual design of heat sink in Macbook Pro 13 Retina late 2013? The heat sink only covers CPU but NOT the iris GPU. I wonder why is it designed like this? The GPU can generate much more heat under certain conditions.

Hi All, sorry about this post, I studied the architecture of Haswell chips, find out the small little one is the PCH not GPU.

  • Why my macbook pro 15" retina late 2013 shows weird display spec in the system report.

Hi, my  macbook pro 15" retina late 2013 displays screen resolution as 3360*2100 in the system report. As we all know that the 15" model of late 2013 macbook pro has the maxmium resolution as 2880*1800. So is there anyone has a clue?

Odd. Set the current resolution to "Best for Retina."
    Start up in Safe Mode
    Then reboot normally. Same issue?

To save space on the computer, Apple has decided to solder the memory onto the logic board on the MacBook Pro with Retina display and the MacBook Air, and that's why you can't add more memory after buying the Mac. This only applies to these computers, not for the other ones

  • IWork download problem Macbook Pro 13 Retina Late 2013

I have Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013 and can't download iWork for free, appstroe still want pay from me :/

The apps should show up in your "Purchases" history - did you check there? If still having problems, contact the Mac App Store support folks -> http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/.
    Good luck,

  • Macbook pro 13 retina late 2013 charge capacity problem

I have bought a macbook pro retina late 2013 13 inch (me865) today but something is wrong that my full battery capacity is always changing and cannot show the right capacity of the full battery sometimes it show 6330 mAh sometimes it shows 6309 mAh in the system report power section, so that it can change also my battery time. The cycle is 2 and one thing more we have opened the item in the store to check the item they have plugged  a magsafe2 adapter on it but i didnt see the watt of the magsafe2 now i am charging within 60 watt magsafe 2 which is came out from box is that a problem? I have also reset smc but ıt doesnt effect
also the revision is showing 389?

Take it back where you purchased it or simply come to grips with understanding that the battery will continue to charge to ever decreasing levels. This is normal as the battery use time increases.

  • MacBook Pro 13" Retina (late 2013) very short standby time

I have a new (about 1 month old) MacBook Pro Retina 13" (late 2013). Fastest processor, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM running OSX Mavericks 10.9.1. The battery life while powered on is normal. However, in standby (when I close the lid or put it on standby manually) the battery life is nowhere near the 30 Days Apple advertises. It's more like 5-8 hours. When in standby! My old 2009 MacBook Pro 15" has a longer standby time with a used battery!
I already turned off PowerNap (where the MacBook updates emails and stuff while in standby) with no differences. Does anybody else experience this short standby time behaviour with their macbooks? Any ideas on how to solve this?
    Thanks!
    Fabio

  • Vollbildansicht in Bridge CC auf Macbook Pro 13 Retina (late 2013)

    Hallo zusammen,

  • I have a macbook pro with retina (late 2012) what is the best monitor for work?

I would like to purchase a monitor to connect to my laptop with good resolution that will be better for my eyes. Do you think that I will expirience problems If I get a 4K monitor and Ill run it with full resolution  @30hz? i do not use any videos in my work or gaming. I am a commercial real estate broker. Just internet use and exel. Thank you in advance

A Dell ultra Sharp would be a good buy.  Depending on what size you want:

Otherwise, if you don't mind spending the money, and not worried about not using the monitor to its fullest this BENQ is an excellent monitor

  • Facetime HD Camera not detected - MacBook Pro 13 Retina (Late 2013)

My MBPr 13 (Haswell / i7/ 16 GB / 512 SSD / OS X 10.9.1)  is roughly 2 months old. A couple of weeks ago the camera had 'disappeared' but this was resolved after a reboot. Then, a couple of days ago it disappeared again. What is happening is this: when I start Facetime (or Photobooth), I get a black window which says - "No camera connected"
    Have tried the following:
    SMC Reset
    PRAM Reset
    Uninstalled Skype
Created a new 'test' user, did a safeboot and logged in as the 'test' user.
    Still no camera.
Camera also does not show up in System Report either under Camera or under USB.
Updates performed in the last week include Digital Camera RAW compatibility update for iPhoto and iTunes 11.1.4
Looks like I'll have to take it in. Would be grateful if any inputs from the community can help.

    Update:
I took it to the service center where the guy connected it to his server and ran Apple Service Diagnostics which detected the camera.
He says the hardware is fine and recommends a restoration.
Question: Is there any way I can restore the OS and not have to install my applications again?

  • I just bought a used MacBook Pro 13inch retina late 2013, which was originally bought in December, but for some reason neither the iWork or iLife suit seem to be free as advertised by Apple. Can I still get them for free?

As the title says, I thought that both suites are supposed to be free. Am I wrong or is there some way to still get them for free?
    Many thanks for answers!

If the computer is registered with Apple as new from December 2013, then if you search for the apps to "buy" (Pages, Keynote, Numbers, iMovie, iPhoto, Garageband) in the App store, it SHOULD give you the price as FREE.  If it does not, I suggest you contact Apple and ask their advice.
This is what Apple say about eligibility for iWork and iLife for free:
    http://www.apple.com/creativity-apps/mac/up-to-date/
The only possible "glitch" in this is that you were not the original purchaser.  Speak to Apple and see what they say - they may be willing to facilitate the download for you.
