I have a macbook pro 4GB Ram, 2GHz Intel Core 7 processor and all the time since few months ago is like running for 2 sec. and stuck for another 2 sec.
I already tried to fix it by opening just a few windows but is not that. And is killing me because anything I want to do is just like the machine responds now, now not, now yes, now not. Sometimes is ok, just like now but really isn't much time. I can't even watch a movie on itunes, not even in youtube, it lasts up to 3-4 minutes to load.
Mavericks is no longer available from the App Store, so your choice is Yosemite. One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won't have to go though the revert process.
Check to make sure your applications are compatible.

Snow Leopard is still the most efficient OSX from Apple. I have a late 2011 MBP running Lion with no performance issues.
I suggest the following; Install 8 GB RAM if you do not have that already. (The best sources of Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial). The newer OSX's are trifle more RAM hungry.
Partition your HDD and install one of the newer OSX's in the new partition and try it out. This allows you to 'retreat' to Snow Leoprad if you find the newer OSX is not to your liking.
Also note that the newer OSX's do not support PPC applications. That means that there is a possibility that some of your current applications will not work and may have to be updated or replaced.

I have a MacBook Pro 13inch 2.4GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo, 4Gb RAM, 250Gb HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics, SD card slot, up to 10 hour battery life) bought in October 2010. The charger has been playing up for a while now - the light going out but coming back on when I move the cable a bit - faulty connection it seems. It has now stopped working at all.
Apple UK charge a whopping £65 for a replacement - and the reviews are AWFUL for it!
I need to know which one I need - 45w, 60w and 80w are listed - can someone tell me please? If I'm going to pay this price I want to make sure I get the right one!
Also, is a genuine Apple one available on Amazon UK, does anyone know please?

I've read here on Apple's site that the 85W version will work, as you say, and that it would run cooler with a 13" Macbook - I have a 13" MBP of course but assume this would be the same with mine. I wonder if running cooler is a good thing (it sounds as if it is) and it would be better for me to get the 85W version than the 60W one?
Then I have to decide whether to pay the (extortionate as it seems to me, though I may be wrong) £65 from Apple (bearing in mind the rotten reviews here of the Apple product), or risk a cheaper alternative from Amazon UK, at around £20 (also with various rotten reviews)... Yes, i do not suggest upgrading right now. There is some software malfunction or glitch that spontaneously shuts down this specific model. I upgraded and it was a pain to downgrade and make my mac usable again.

It actually shouldn't allow you to upgrade. Your configuration should be detected and then it should reject your attempt to upgrade.

I have a macbook pro 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo 2010 13" aluminum with 8gb of memory and a 250gb hard drive running version 10.6.8 with safari 5.1.4. Safari will open up intermittently on its own. System preferences and the dock isn't set up to start safari. Can't figure out why this is happening. Had reloaded system from scratch and noticed this happening lately.
Remove iAntiVirus, then reboot, see if it's better.

RAM gets improved over time like everything else, so if the RAM is too old it won't be compatible with newer machines.
TO confirm, use Crucial.com and punch in each machine, then read the RAM requirements and specifications, if they match, then your good.
But I'm willing to bet they won't be beause of the age difference between the two machines. -

You can run OS X Mountain Lion with 2 GB of RAM, but you cannot be sure that it will work correctly.
"MacBookPro3,1" belongs to the Late 2007 MacBook Pro, so it is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion. However, you say your MacBook Pro has got an Intel Core Duo processor, when it should have got an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. You can check which processor you have in > About this Mac.
I recommend you to upgrade RAM. You can buy more RAM at OWC or Crucial.

I have it running on the latest NON-Retina MBP. And a good friend of mine has it running on his Retina model. Works fine.

If you need to revisit them...that's why you install FCS3. That's really the only reason I have that on my system, to revisit old projects, and to deal with clients who still use FCP 7.
You really should look at moving on though...not sticking with FCP7. It's 4 years old...two years since it was EOL. Adobe Premiere Pro CC is a very good FCP replacement...although I don't like their "rental" method of paying a subscription to use it. I went to my local Apple store last weekend with a similar issue on my 2007 C2D MBP and they quoted me a price of around £60 (excluding VAT) to replace the optical drive. That's about the same price as the external optical drive a bought for my RMBP.
Alternatively you could just buy a 3rd party external drive if you want to save cash but note that the external Apple superdrive is not compatible with MacBooks with built in optical drives. -

Remember the retail 10.6 currently does not include the App Store, and those upgrading from 10.5.8 or earlier will need to both buy the retail 10.6, and download the combo 10.6.6 update, not to mention ensure they have the correct processor and 2 GB of RAM. Finally once it is available, you'll have find out how long approximately it takes to install after the download is complete.
These times do not include installation time, which on a MacBook Pro 3,1 15" installing on a Firewire 800 Newertech Voyager with WD10ACS-322J80 drive, 10.6.7, took 1 hour and a half to complete the installation from double clicking the install command to the registration screen. These times may vary by connection speeds from a non-dedicated connection, or background application usage of the internet. Any applications running when the installation process begins might interfere with the installation itself, and they should be quit first.
The installer just before it starts has in its package contents an InstallESD.dmg file a DVD burnable image to install on additional computers in the home without downloading over again. So if you desire to reinstall without an extra internet download, extract that file, by selecting the installer in the dock, and control-clicking it, and revealing it in the Finder. Next Control-mouse click it, and select show package contents. Inside that folder is a Shared Support folder. That's where you find the DMG.

this is my 3rd macbook air and pro that kicks me out my yahoo email all the time and tells me my password is wrong when its not this been going on 2 years 3 different macs sometimes it dont do it for months after a software update
Don't switch email providers. Switch to another email client on your Mac. It is not Yahoo. I have 3 Yahoo accounts and never have any problems getting or sending mail from/to those accounts. But I don't use the built in Mac Mail program. I use Thunderbird. I use thunderbird on both Mac OS X and Windows. Been using it for some time now with no problems getting my Yahoo mail, Google gmail mail or form my work email account.
