This is the way to reinstall if you are using Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6).
To reinstall iCal:
1. Insert the Snow Leopard Installation disk into the computer.
2. The disk will appear on the desktop.
3. Double click on the "Optional Installs" folder.
4. Double click on the "Optional Installs.mpkg."
5. Click on (Continue) in Introduction.
6. Click on (Continue) in Software License Agreement.
7. Click on (Agree) to agree to the terms of the software license agreement.
8. Click on the disclosure arrow ▶ next to Applications.
9. Select (✓) iCal.
10. Click (Continue).
11. After iCal has been reinstalled, download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to bring iCal up to the most recent version.
This is the procedure to use if you have Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) installed.
1. Insert the Leopard Installation disk into the computer.
2. The disk will appear on the desktop.
3. Double click on the "Optional Installs" folder.

Move the content from the old computer to the new computer.
Sync the iPhone via cable to the new computer and enable Wi-Fi syncing.
It should now be possible to sync via Wi-Fi to the new computer.

Did you cause the nick? Or did it just appear one day? There are reports of the retina screen having exploding pixels which leaves a hole in the screen that can be felt when you rub your finger across it. If that is what happened then it should be covered under the warranty. If you caused the nick then it is not covered and the fix will be very expensive, somewhere in the $1000 range.

I suggets you contact the manufacturer. They may have a software update or a workaround.

Where you stored them. By default, GarageBand will store them in the folder Music > GarageBand in your Home folder, when you do not select a different folder in the File Chooser dialog panel, when you save the project.
If you cannot find your projects, open a Finder window and type .band into the search field. Then select "Kind GarageBand.project" from the drop-down menu.
