I have a microsoft surface rt and an Ipod touch. I want to update my ipod touch. I have heard of people losing their photos whn they update, so I want to bck up my photos first, but I cant because my surface doesnt allow itunes. How can I sync my ipod?
The frst time I plugged my ipod into my surface, it came up with the option sync ipod but that didnt happen today when I plugged in my ipod.
Any ideas on how to sync my ipod?
You can't without iTunes. Try using a Mac.

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

My ipod is rejecting the correct screen lock to unlock the ipod. I have restored it but it is still asking for a passcode. How can I enter my ipod? Is there a way to restore it so i can start over?
Place your device into recovery mode and then restore.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. USe your backup copy to put everything on the new computer, then sync.

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the Mac as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your Mac first.

The other responder gave you a program that will transfer stuff from your iPod to your new computer. You can transfer iTunes purchaces to your new computer by:

After you move your stuff to your new computer you will have to let iTunes erase your iPod and then sync with the stuff that is now in your iTunes library. You will loose app data though. -

You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year. It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you. How is your iPod configured to sync content from your iTunes library? Any error messages during the sync process?
You may want to reset warnings on the device by right->clicking on it under Devices and choosing Reset Warnings. Then resync the iPod to see if any alerts appear.
Is this the same computer you normally sync the Nano with?
