I have a new computer how do I trans my files from my ipod to this new comp

I have a new computer and I want to trans my music to the new computer how do I do this and no I do no have the old computer.

Check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2).
There's also another method. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), there's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
The above methods may depend on what version of iTunes you are running.
If none of these methods work, try CopyPod.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

for purchases from the iTunes store do this:
authorize iTunes on your new machine for your iTunes store account(s). connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
for everything else check out this post by Zevoneer.

  • I have a new iMac.  How do I transfer my files from my iPod into Itunes?

How do I transfer my music files from my Ipod to my Imac?  It appears to be simple to sync the Imac to the Ipod, but how to I put what I have on my Ipod on my new Imac?

You can't do that because the music is synced to  a computer. You can however move an iTunes library from an old computer to a new one.
BTW please complete your profile, it is incredibly difficult to help someone when there is no information about their system. If you don't know how please click Profile Update. After setting up your profile it will show in your next thread.

  • I have an Ipod touch but I just got a new computer, how do I get my music from my ipod onto my new computer?

I just got a new computer and I want to transfer my music from my ipod touch to my new pc....how can I do this?

The ipod is not a storage/backup device.  The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • How do i transfer my music from my ipod touch to my new computer, how do i transfer my music from my ipod touch to my new computer

How do I transfer music from my Ipod Touch to my new computer?

1.Reinstall your system and your iTunes library, or just get your music, videos and photos off your iPod, and save them to your computer
2.Back up all of your music, playlists, videos and photos from iPod to a new computer.
3.Share your iPod contents with a friend.
4.Restore your songs, movies, and photographs from your iPod if you'tve lost your iTunes music library during a system crash.
Know more about how to transfer or copy music from iPod to PC, which included the detailed tutorials of how to transfer your music from iPod to PC.
Hopefully this works for all of you like it just worked for me!

  • New computer - how do i get my songs from my ipod to transfer???

I had to get a new computer and need to get all my songs from my nano over to the new computer library. i was able to see the options to transfer my purchased songs but that was only 21 out of several hundred still on my nano.
    anyone please help, thanks.

For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • How do I move mp3 files from my iPod to my computer?

    Short version:
I need to move music from my iPod to my computer so I can fix ID3 (or AAC) tags on the mp3 files, then move the same, corrected mp3 files back to the iPod.
    Long version:
I used to have a Pioneer car stereo with iPod control. It displayed all of the song information correctly. I got a new car about a year ago that didn't have iPod control. Today, I finally got a new stereo that supports full iPod control. I plugged in my iPod for the first time in over a year (I only use it in my car). The files may have become corrupt or something while my iPod has been collecting dust, but now the song title, artist, and album are all displayed as the song title.
    Instead of:
    Gimme Shelter
    Rolling Stones
    Greatest Hits
    It displays:
    Gimme Shelter
    Gimme Shelter
    Gimme Shelter
The real head scratcher for me is that it only does this on some songs. Maybe 10% of the songs still have the ID3 tag intact (although the album art doesn't display so I want to fix that anyway).
I don't use the iTunes store. All of the music that is on my iPod was legally purchased as CDs and ripped to my old computer years ago. I don't have that computer any more, and I no longer have the mp3 library that was on it. I don't want to go through the hassle of ripping all of my music from my CD library back to my computer, import it to iTunes, then copy it over to my iPod. It seems like I should be able to transfer my ripped mp3 library from my iPod into my new computer, fix the ID3 tags, then copy them back to my iPod.
I'm using an old 30GB iPod Video. I have no use for upgrading it to something new.
    I found this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329
But it explicitly states that it won't work with music that wasn't purchased from the iTunes store (which mine wasn't). I really wish that Apple didn't think it knew what was best for me and would let me use the hardware that I purchased the way that I want to use it. Is there any third party software or anything that will help me do what I need to do?

That article is about using your iPod as an external hard drive, to move files from one computer to another computer.  It is not related to your question.
You can't use iTunes to move song files from iPod to computer, except for songs you purchased from the iTunes Store (and you can also re-download purchases).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can move song files from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your current computer, add them to that computer's iTunes library by dragging the files (or folder containing the files) to the iTunes window.  After confirming everything is there (and fixing the data issue you mentioned) you can sync the iPod.  You may want to do a Restore on the iPod, if it might have a data corruption issue, which will erase the iPod's hard drive, re-install the latest software, and set it to defautl settings.

  • Every time I try and delete an album from my ipod using itunes but doing so manually as was suggested, it is also deleted from the itunes library that i have set up.  How do I just delete albums from my ipod and not loose them from my pc itunes library?

I have an extensive itunes library on my pc.  I want to delete albums from my ipod but still keep them in my itunes library.  Everytime I try to delete by right clicking on the album and choosing delete, I also loose the album from itunes.  I have just gotten an old iphone and put just classical and jazz on the iphone and want to delete those albums from my ipod but alas I will be loosing them from the iphone as well as soon as I sync with itunes in the future.  I put settings into manual manage music but still the albums go off itunes.  Any suggestions?

I'm thinking you sync to your computer over Wi-Fi, if correct, switch to sync when connected to iTunes, turn off sync over Wi-Fi. Hope this helps, Good luck. Cheers.

  • How to extract my music file from my ipod???

I have had this Ipod for about 3 years and I am ready to buy a new one. But I have all my music in this Ipod. Does someone know how to extract this music so that I can feed my new Ipod?

You can't directly transfer music from iPod-to-iPod.
You can transfer your current iPod's music to your computer, then transfer that to your iPod.
There are a few different methods of transferring music from your iPod to your computer (on a Windows).
Method 1 - Manually transfer your iPod songs to iTunes using MacMuse's post. See it here -> iPod songs to computer (MacMuse post)
Method 2 - Add your iPod's folder into the iTunes library (via iTunes). Read this post here -> Using iTunes settings to transfer iPod songs to iTunes
Method 3 - Use a third-party program to get the transferring done. For a Windows computer, CopyPod should work good. Also, you can try out YamiPod
After this, you can connect your new iPod, and transfer the songs from the iTunes library to your new iPod.
I hope that info helps you.
