I have a new iMac running OS 10.9. When I use the Command S shortcut in any of my apps (numbers, text edit etc), it no longer saves the active document it speaks it instead. How can I revert to the save shortcut function?

system preference->Dictiation & speech if it's assigned there?
or system preference->accessibility if it's assigned there?

Try double clicking on the harddrive icon on your desktop
You should get something like this.
On the left pane is a list of common places.
All the user data is in the /Users folder.
See the magnifying glass on the upper left of the screen. This is spotlight. Type in a file name.

Thanks, Jim, for taking the time, but the reply is unfortunately vague in the exact area of my confusion! "you need to copy that file to your new computer..." Well, the Import/Export instructions make it seem as if the two computers should be able to communicate this file thru wifi, but that's the linkage I can't seem tocreate with Import/Export. Should I instead email a copy to myself (thats what applecare suggested)? Copy it to and from a thumb drive? But then place the file where? And the article was helpful, but should I be trying to move the Library file or the Library.xml file (as iTunes Help suggests)? Sorry to be so clueless about it...I suppose I buy Apple in the hopes of not having to think about this stuff, which approach seems not to be serving me well. Thanks again for your time!

Have you run Microsoft Update and installed the latest 14.2.4 Office update yet?
Humor me. When you perform copy, do you then establish keyboard focus by clicking the mouse pointer on the destination screen for the paste action -- before keying the paste?
Have you installed any third-party keystroke mapping software that may be getting between the operating system and these two applications?
Under System Preferences > Accessibility > Keyboard, have you enabled Sticky, Slow, or EEK! Keys?
In System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Keyboard & Text Input, doe the check marks look like the following:

My iMac was stolen - but I think there's a backup on my Time Capsule (which wasn't stolen). I have a new iMac which I've been using normally; I didn't use the 'Restore from...' option at the start because I thought the Time Capsule had nothing on it. So how do I now recover files from the Time Machine? I can see various back-ups on the Time Capsule, from various machines - laptops, etc. - but it's not letting me open any of them to see what they contain. Does anyone know how I access this information?

Quick answer: Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist", or check the "compilation" flag (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085).
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields.

I am ok with the vertical way, but I don't like the very sensible horizontal way. Do someone know a way to block the vertical move only and keep the move of the horizontal way? The only way I found blocked all the moves.

Je ne vois pas l'utilité du mouvement horizontale (gauche-droite, droite-gauche) et pire encore, par mégarde je fais trop souvent bouger ainsi mon texte et cela m'embête, même me dérange beaucoup. Même que cela me donne même mal au coeur hahahahahaha!
Par contre, ma souris précédente avait le mouvement de défilement du haut en bas et bas en haut et cela par contre m'est très utile. Je voudrais donc savoir s'il existe un moyen de stopper le mouvement de côté mais conserver tout de même la fonction du mouvement haut-bas et bas-haut avec le simple toucher de la souris. The iPhone is not a backup device, so you shouldn't expect to be able to get everything that is on it onto your new computer. The far better way is to restore the backup of your old computer onto the new computer. Here is what you CAN save from the iPhone - start by installing the latest version of iTunes on your new computer:
Verify that your new computer has iTunes 10.5.2. If it doesn't, download and install the latest version from http://www.apple.com/itunes
Authorize the new iTunes to the account the iPhone is associated with
Connect the phone but DO NOT SYNC
Choose "Transfer Purchases" from the iTunes File menu - this will copy your purchased music to iTunes on the Mac
Click on the iPhone name in the left panel, then the "Info" tab in the right panel
Choose apps on your computer to sync Contacts and Calendars to (probably Address Book and iCal)
Make sure there is at least one entry in each app on your Mac
If you have music that was not purchased from iTunes on your iPhone you will have to find a third party Mac app to copy it to your computer. Google for "iphone file browser"
If you have photos in the Camera Roll you can transfer them to iPhoto, which should have opened when you connected the phone. If it didn't launch the Image Capture app
If you have photos in the Photo app the iphone file browser can copy them to your computer, HOWEVER, they will be lower resolution than the originals
After doing all of the above sync the phone.
As I said at the beginning, it would be far easier just to restore the backup of your previous computer.

The answer is Yes and Yes. Unless you are editing huge files, Photoshop should run adequately on a MacBook Air.
You can check it out at an Apple Store before you purchase, and see if it meets your expectations.
Btw, you may want to consider the i7 version just for slightly better performance.

The person gave me the instructions to reset the printing system and I followed it. That's what corrected the printing drop down windows.
I am also having trouble finding the downloaded icc profiles for the papers I use. I see them in the Color Sync Utility, but not in the drop down window for Color Management. There is a thread on this forum relating to that, but I don't understand how to "copy" the profiles and put them elsewhere.

And the Radio app probably doesn't work either.
The headphone jack on the nano is very tight when new. Push the jack all the way in, the plastic on the headset jack should be flush with the body of the nano.
