I have a new ipod classic...
I just got a new ipod classic 120 gb model. It does this thing where while the ipod is showing the usual album cover and the name of the song, the time remaining and so on. After about a minute and a half, the screen changes where it's only showing the time in big numbers and the battery indicator only instead of the usual screen. why is it doing this, and is there any way to get it to stop doing that and show the album art and the song like normal. The older ipods did not do this. I have not been able to find any information about this. Thanks.
You can turn it off under settings. Have the backlight stay permanently on, but this will run down your battery faster.

I have a new ipod classic, do I need to download sd or hd videos from itunes?
I have a new ipod classic, not sure what which version but is brand new. Do I need to purchase sd or hd videos from itunes for my classic?
Hi Powell73,
Your iPod Classic will most likely work with Standard Definition (SD) video content. You may find the following articles helpful in that regards:

I have a new ipod Classic 160GB. I already have an Itunes account. The Itunes account recognizes my device but will not sync my library to this new device.
What do I need to do?Hi Amy2250,
Have you tried to sync music to the iPod via the iPod subdirectory of iTunes? To do this, plug your iPod into your computer, go into iTunes, click on the iPod tab, click on 'Music' in the iPod subdirectory and select whether you want to sync your whole iTunes library or just selected songs and press sync.
Alternatively, have you tried manually transferring music onto the iPod using the 'drag and drop' method? To do that, go into iTunes with your iPod connected, click on the iPod tab, in the iTunes iPod Classic subdirectory click on the 'Summary' tab, then tick the box saying 'Manually manage music' and click save. Then, in the same subdirectory click on the 'On this iPod' tab and click on Music. Then, select the songs you want to transfer either in Finder or Windows Explorer, select the songs you want to copy to the iPod and drag them to the blank list in the 'On this iPod' area of iTunes you just opened.
Good luck,

Using an iPod Classic on a Bose sound dock....when loading the iPod from the Mac, what "Import Settings" (under iTune "Preferences"), should be used to maintain a constant sound level when playing music? Mac OS 10.6.8, iTunes 10.6.1.
There are many Import Settings available and it is somewhat confusing. Any suggestions?Go to iTunes>Preferences>Playback. Tick "Sound Check."

I have a new ipod classic, iwant to give my ipod nano to partner.
I would like to take my nano and give to my partner. Do I need to rename it sothey can create there own list of music. Can two be put on the same computer?
iTunes can tell iPods apart so you can rename it if you want but it isn't required. Just plug in either iPod (I don't think you can plug in two at once) and iTunes knows which one is plugged in and will sync it however you set up that iPod to sync. The other will also sync how you set it up. They can be set up differently for the same library.

Does anyone have an idea how to transfer music stored in the cloud to a new iPod classic?
You must download it to your iTunes library first, before syncing the iPod classic.

I have an old iPod Classic with 80 GB (I think) of space. I saved all my songs in an external hard drive, but the iTunes library resided in an old computer (no longer working). Can I get the library from my iPod and use it in my new computer (Windows)?
You might want to check your process for moving your iTunes music against this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527.

Update!
This is what I did to fix both the skipping songs problem and the iPod verifying forever & not able to restore problem (because of iTunes 9):
a) I used Disk Utility to reformat my iPod while in Disk Mode using the instructions here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363?viewlocale=en_US
and here:
http://www.methodshop.com/gadgets/ipodsupport/erase/index.shtml#backup
b) Do not unplug your iPod after reformatting (mine showed up as a firewire disk) - simply launch iTunes ( I went back to 8.2) and follow the Restore instructions here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339
iPod is recognized, syncs and doesn't skip songs anymore after that miserable experience with iTunes 9!!! -
I have an older ipod classic 40GB, how can I update /resync it to my new comp?
Hello Elizabeth,
You want to know how to sync content from your iPod back over to your computer correct? If so, see this article for different possibilities.
http://www.metaphoriclabs.com/articles/5-ways-to-copy-music-off-your-ipod-window s-mac-os-x/
Once you have successfully, moved all your content from your iPod back over to your new computer, erase and sync your iPod with iTunes.

I have a brand new Ipod classic (Christmas 2012-13), a newish laptop (2012) and have just downloaded the latest version of iTunes. However, despite iTunes working fine on the laptop, the ipod being recognised by the laptop/iTunes, telling me it is synchronising, it actually won't synch. I have reset the ipod, tried different USB ports, restarted the laptop, and uninstalled / reinstalled iTunes, but still not working. Can anybody help ?
Well, I don't know if that's a software or hardware problem. You should take it to Apple Genius Bar or send it to service center. And one more thing, Its not synch...... Its Sync... Just saying... It would help if you send pictures of the problem. Such as the screen of iTunes saying it's syncing. It will help everyone and me...

Until recently I have owed 2 iPod Classics - 2007 80gb and 2009 160gb (which has since been returned as it had a very noisy hard drive).
How do I transfer the library from the 160gb to the 80gb in iTunes using Windows Vista.
Nothing seems to help on the Apple support pages, so any help would be appreciated
ThanksThanks for the reply, but not actually sure how to sync a second iPod with the library of the first, as I thought it would not recognise a new iPod for copyright reasons.
Also, the files are in a location on the pc but I had to do lots of formatting amendments in iTunes as most of the stuff was on mp3 files and the formatting was all over the place. I did not want to loose any of the work by simply asking the new iPod to look at the original file and would rather copy en masse from one device to another.
Any help or pointers greatly appreciated
Thanks
