I have a new Mac. I installed my Bridge CS4 that I ran on my old mac. When I import RAW photos from my Nikon d90 they come in with an .NEF extension. I need to install a converter but cannot find one.

I have a new mac. I installed my Bridge CS4 and Photoshop CS4 that I ran on my old mac. When I import RAW pics from my Nikon D90 they come in with the extension of .NEF. Apparently this is not a readable form for Bridge as the picture does not appear. I believe I need a converter to convert .NEF to .dng but I can't find one. Any ideas?

You do not need to convert to DNG.
The NEFs from your camera model have been supported since ACR 4.6 and 5.1.
What you need to do is update your ACR plug-in to version 5.7, the latest and last version for CS4. Right now, you are probably on ACR 5.0, the version supplied with the original release of Photoshop CS4.
Be aware that the Adobe updater is extremely unreliable when it comes to CS5, so that you must do the update manually. There are detailed instructions on the ACR 5.7 plug-in download page. You MUST follow those instructions to the letter.

Thanks. Once ImageCapture had accessed the photos, THEN iPhoto began to pick up the data, so I was ultimately able to do both. It only worked with the cable, though, not the card readers. Weird.
And I really appreciate the ImageCapture tip. Any idea why it worked?

How did you import them?
Keywords are preserved if you use either the Import iPhoto Library or Show iPhoto Browser methods.

I have 2 iphoto libraries but one is lost, missing, cannot seem to find it... tried an apple care person - they were no help - we use Time Machine for external backup... but cannot find my older iPhoto library! I desperately need some help!

I have recently had something really odd happen within iphoto. My photos from May-Oct 2013 appeared to be missing from my primary Iphoto library.
last night I was trying to find any additional Iphoto libraries on my Imac... I could not find them... but then somehow the May-Oct 2013 library showed up and now I cannot find the "current" primary Iphoto library. I sought help from apple care today but no solutoin from them after 2 hours trying. I have timemachine that backs up my Imac each day to an external hard drive. When I open Iphoto while holding down the "option" key - it lets me choose which Iphoto library... but only (1) library comes up... Today - I can only open a Library called Iphoto2014... and it contains the photos from the gap in dates. I can't "see" any other options to open photos... but just yesterday there appeared to be a different library available.

I imagine that 3.6.19 is a slightly earlier version missing a security update, compared with Firefox 3.6.20. It would be unusual for an application to not work in Firefox 3.6.20 if it works in 3.6.19

I have uploaded photos from the past and they are grouped by dates. How do I seperate those photos into their own folder/album so that I can easily identify the contents. Also, what is the difference between Album, Smart Album and folders?

As a result, there are many events grouped into one library/event/folder/album (not sure of the proper terminology) I'd like to separate them into folders/albums/smart albums so that I can easily identify the contents. How do I do that and do I delete the originals?

It would be good to take the tutorials and learn iPhoto - these are for the previous version but the concepts are the same and much of the command is the same - and it would be a worthwhile investment of time to take the iphoto tutorials - http://www.apple.com/findouthow/photos/ - they are very helpful and will save you a lot of time and frustration. - also the tutorials in iPhoto Help will be helpful - while iPhoto is easy and intuitive it does have a learning curve and it will save you time and pain if you spend a few minutes learning the basics
as to organization - events are generally time based and are the basic automatic organization - you can merge and split them to make them work better for you but they are not a good way to do detailed organization - best to leave them time based
albums are logical things that contain photos and are just pointers to the photo in the event so they take no extra space and all changes to a photo anywhere are reflected everywhere
Smart albums are the same except they are automatically filled based on the criteria you set when you create them
Folders are containers that you create and a folder can contain albums, smart albums or other folders so they are a big help in organization - like a vacation folder that holds folders for France, USA, China with each of thos folders holding albums of photos from the country

Is it crossing the end of March 2013 ? If it is then there appears to be a problem with all day events on the 1st April 2013 due to clocks changing for daylight saving - if it does include 1st April 2013 then try changing it to end on 31st March 2013 and have a second entry for 1st April onwards (starting at something like 4am on the 1st)

If you registered PSE before, go to the main page of adobe.com, sign in and go to your account and you should find the serial number there in your purchases.

Do you have the receipt? If you have proof of ownership, you _may_ be able to persuade Customer Support to help you out. I imagine you would need to scan and email that proof if it works at all.
