When I boot up my Mac Mini, the mail and message program's open automatically. How do I stop this?
I heard that all program's that are open when shutting down, will open again on booting up. I always close all program's before shutting down!

Go to preferences and General and be sure the box is checked that states to close all programs on exit. Also, right clcik your mail icon in the dock and under options be sure the open at login is not checked.

I have a new Mac mini- changed from Windows XP. I have a peculiar problem. I use an Acer monitorwith the Mac which works fine when the Mac is 'un-sleeped'. But, if I have shutdown the Mac the Acer does not recognisethe start up - at least it shows nothing on screen. When I have shut down - nowknowing the problem, I use an old Samsung monitor to cope with the start up -it does so fine - and then put the Mac to 'sleep', then change monitors andrestart the Mac - the Acer is now fine. I posted the same question a day ago with no response. I'm using an Acer x193w. You actually don't have to switch monitors to get it to work. Just make sure you turn off the monitor after shutting down the Mac mini (actually push the power button on the monitor, not just let it go to sleep). If you turn on the monitor (push the power button on the monitor), then power up the Mac mini, the monitor is recognized. The issue didnt exist with Snow Leopard for me. It only started after I started using Lion. Hope this issue gets fixed In a future OS update.

Yes you do have enough storage, you only need let's say 10GB to properly install Windows with a few (very small) programs. You'd be best of just going to a store and buying a Windows 7 install DVD (not an upgrade one!), or using one that you might have laying around at home. You can also purchase Windows 7 via the Microsoft online store and than burn it to a DVD. It is possible that installing from a USB-drive works, but I have not tried this yet.

You need to download it on one of the iMacs via App store but not install since after it installs the installation download gets deleted.
After it is downloaded you can copy to a USB device. You can also make a bootable USB install device by:
downloading and using DiskMaker X

It sounds unlikely of course. But from your question it's hard to tell what might have filled your HDD. Are you constantly on file sharing or has filled the drive with movies?
Best way to tell is to start checking what folders occupy space. "Get Info" for the HDD and its subfolders is a way to start checking where the data in question resides.
And as BGreg say, call Apple support is also a good way to begin with.

You have a couple of options for booting OS X.
One is to use the OS X Recovery Disk Assistant to copy the Mountain Lion Recovery HD to a USB thumb drive. A 4GB thumb drive is sufficient as the Disk Assistant only needs 1GB.
A second option would be to use a cloning software like SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your existing Macintosh HD to an external USB drive. This would give you an external bootable copy of what you have now.
