I have had my MacAir replaced and now need to get my existing photo albums off my iphone 4s. It allows me to import exising "new" photos from my camera role but these are not what i want. I did a 9 country Europe trip and I don't want to lose them

Unfortunately, those photos live in your iPhoto Library which was on your previous MacBook Air. Did you, by any chance back them up to a disk or flash drive? If not, have you consulted someone at the Apple Genius bar about recovering any of them, or using the Migration Assistant to get them moved over to your new MacBook Air?
I'm not familiar with any way to upload photos (other than the new ones) to your Mac from your iPhone.
IF WE HAVE SOME HEAVY HITTERS OUT THERE THAT KNOW A WAY TO HELP FOXIFOODIE OUT, PLEASE CHIME IN!!!
Otherwise, foxifoodie, I would talk to the Apple folks to see if there is any way to get these back for you! (Worst case - have them all printed out so you at least have a hard copy! Then, possibly have a good photo service put them on disk for you so you can upload them to your new MacBook Air?

If your music was purchased in iTunes, the new iCloud feature will enable you to download all of those songs to your new machine. Goto Purchases -> look at the bottom right of the window for "download previous purchases" Be sure you have the latest version of iTunes.
If you have music that you ripped from CDs, you can just move the files on a flash drive or over your home network.

Yes.
What you need to do is Transfer the iTunes Library from your Old computer to your New computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
Backup iTunes to an External Drive

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

To get synced photos from an iPod to a computer you need a third-party program like TouchCopy or PhoneView.

I too have just purchased a new pc and want to transfer EVERYTHING from my iPhone to the new pc. I am unable to access my old pc for the files. So, where do I review the iPhoto images...there is nothing in there that says "iPhoto Library" Everything I see pertains to Aperture Library which of course is empty since I haven't imported (or dragged) any photos in there yet.

I have a deadline --3 days to edit 300 photos and I'm a complete amateur. iPhoto doesn't have the capability to erase parts of a face (I need to contour the neck of a mannequin to make it proportionate to the separate head I put on top of it. To delete photos from your device
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Click Apply.

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

Are these songs that you purchased from the iTunes Store or imported from outside of iTunes? If there are iTunes purchases, delete them from your main iTunes library and redownload them again at no cost via iCloud.

Turn off iMessage in your phones settings. Apple devices can only use iMessage to other Apple devices.
Turning off iMessage will allow the messages to go as regular text messages.
