I have a new macbook pro hooked up to a belkin wireless router. My HP officejet printer is also connected to the router. I cannont get the printer to work from my computer without restarting my computer evertime I want to print. How do I fix this?

I have a new Macbook Pro hooked up to a new Belkin wireless router. I can connect to the internet without a problem. I have an HP officejet printer hooked up the the router to work wirelessley, The router is reading it as connected. My computer reads it as offline. If I reset my computer it will print whatever the first thing is in the que but nothing else and does not work after that. Is there some sort of setting that I am missing? I am trying to set this printer up to work wirelessly from three mac laptops in my house but I can't even get it to work on one right now. Any help would be awesome

There are two ways - you can boot your old Mac in Target Mode (reboot your Mac, and as soon as you hear the startup chime hold down the T key on the keyboard until you see the yellow/orange Firewire logo on screen). You can then use a FireWire cable to connect your new mac to your old one. The old Mac hard drive will appear on your new Mac as if it is an external hard drive.

If you don't have a firewire cable but you do have a home network (i.e. both computers can access the Internet at the same time), you can share the hard drive on your old Mac and then connect to it on your new Mac.

Finally, if the above doesn't thrill you, you can hook an external drive to your old Mac, copy the mail folder over to it, then connect the external drive to your new Mac and copy it over. It's two steps, but if you don't have a firewire cable and aren't comfortable with sharing over a network it will work just as well - you just have to wait for the mail folder to copy twice instead of once.

What do you mean " back up my photos or Apps"?
The photo sync is one way - computer to ipad.
You can transfer itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

Are yoy sure that Apeture is not in the Applications folder of the new system? If it is move it to the trash and the App Store will let you download Aperture from it.
You will need to make sure you use the same Apple ID you used to purchase it in the past.

I cannot recall the DVD player ever being a place to "store" videos - it is simply an app to play videos.
If your machine is new, then iMovie should be included as the "shrunk" version of iLife is included with Lion (iMovie, Garageband, and iPhoto). However, iMovie is not a place to store videos either - it is a video editor. You import your clips and edit them in order to then burn to a DVD or share via a social media site.
Have you considered simply dragging the clips to your folder "Movies"? That would be a great place to just store them (please be aware that videos are usually large files, so keep your hard drive space in mind so you keep a minimum free and available for the OS to operate properly):

Adobe is moving from the purchase of a license for their software to the renting of it. I'm old school so I'd prefer a perpetual license. But you already have a subscription to Illustrator so I guess it'd be advisable to look into whether expanding the subscription to include other software will save you some money. Also I remember something about Adobe adding features to its Cloud version which aren't also added to the licensed version and a different way of handling updates and upgrades. Indeed, Adobe states that CS 6 has reached the end of the road. So if you're going to stay with Adobe, you may very well be stuck.
I'd suggest spending some time in the Adobe Communities. You'll likely find people complaining about choices they've made that you'll have to make too. Let them be the beta testers.

If it works in a new user account, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

I am using the Snow Leopard DVD to try to boot up. It crashs with the screen I told you about. I tried using the option key and it shows the DVD, but once I select it, it starts to boot and then crashes. Is this a problem because I have upgraded my os from the Apple update icon?

Hi I have a new macbook pro and I am a complete novice at using it.
I have today for the first time plugged my 3rd gen (I think) shuffle in to both charge and change the songs.
I tunes sees it, my playlist is there but it's all silhouette, I can't access the tracks.
I'm sure it must be simple but .... I'm a dunce and it's not jumping out at me.
Any help would be much appreciated.

The reason it is all silhouette and you can't sync with your MacBook is because your iPod is synced with another computer. If you want to sync with your new laptop, you can either delete all your tracks and then re-download them, or you can plug your iPod into your computer that you previously synced with and then copy the tracks from iTunes to a USB drive. Plug the USB drive into your laptop and then transfer the tracks to iTunes.

Remember security on a TC is an illusion.
Simply press the reset button for 1-2 sec.. you must not do too long .. it will then hard reset.. but soft reset will revert all passwords to default for 5min. ie TC password is now public.
Remember this the next time because anybody at all can change your passwords.
Once into the TC you can then open the view passwords if you wanted any weaker security. Click and open the TC.. and click on edit.. then go to the top menu..
Voila .. all your passwords in plain sight to any Tom Dick and Fred.
