I have a new Windows 8 and I installed iTunes but all my music isn't there. There is music there I didn't have in iTunes but do have on my computer or enternal hard drive. My iTunes is just all messed up. I also can't edit or add my art work.

When I open some of my albums it looks like theres a haze over the page and I can't click on anything to change it. New songs aren't going into the same album they are going on iTunes individually. I thought when I downloaded iTunes on this new computer everything would be the same as the old computer I didn't think everything would change. I also have missing albums.

Hi DebbieLC!
I have an article for you that can help you troubleshoot this issue a little further. We have an article that explains what to do if you have no content in your iTunes after updating, and it can be found here:

I have a new desktop and re-installed my identity from my airtime back up and on the log in page my picture comes up with my usual password hint, but it is not accepting my password and I do not have the option to reset using my apple id - that particular function is in grey and cannot be clicked on

Depending on what kind of computer you have, you're gonna need to put that backup in the appropriate folder or itunes is not gonna be able to see it for you to use.

  • Do I have to wipe Windows and re-install?

I have no idea what happened. I boot up in Windows only to access my computer at work via something called SSL-Explorer. That's all I've ever used Windows for on my MBP - there's nothing but Explorer on there, and AVG's anti-virus software.
The other day, I went to make a coffee, came back and my MBP had restarted into OS X. I'm using Bootcamp, so I restart and get that screen asking me if I want to start in one of various modes (Safe mode, Safe mode with networking... the other options I assume are dangerous?!) - tried them all. I get the Windows XP progress bar for a few seconds, then I get a blue screen which flashes up so quickly I can't read it, then it restarts into OS X.
I really have no idea what is going on. I'm assuming I need to reinstall Windows (I mean, it is Windows after all) but I'm not sure if there's anything else I can do. If I do need to reinstall windows, do I simply erase the partition?
Any help (even just a link) would be appreciated.

Sounds to me like you're getting the infamous "Blue Screen of Death" (or BSOD). If it won't even boot up in Safe Mode, then yes, I think your best bet right now is to reinstall Windows.
Once you've got Windows reinstalled and running properly, turn off the automatic reboot feature, which may help if you have more BSOD errors in the future:

  • I can no longer add album art work in iTunes version 10.6.0.40

WHY can I no longer add album art work in iTunes version 10.6.0.40? It is maddening. I have checked many boards and discussion groups but no one has a sure fix. Why is Apple not tending to this problem? They of all groups should know the importance of how something looks.

I had the the same problem albeit with an m4v (same hardware and OS rev too!, iTunes 10.6.3). I was able to add the movie to a new library per Limnos' suggestion here, indicating that iTunes wasn't totally busted. However, I was also able to see the movie in the Recently Added smart playlist (another hat tip to Limnos), although it still did not appear in the Movies section of my iTunes library. (It was also in the iTunes Library.xml file.)
So I called AppleCare, and they directed me to move the file from the external drive where it was living, into the /Users/<Your Name Here>/Movies directory, and to "Add to Library" (Command-O) from that location. Sure enough (and much to my surprise), it showed up immediately (duplicated, actually) in the Movies section of my iTunes library. Subsequent additions to my Library have not misbehaved similiarly.

  • I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space, and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run t media from an external hard drive? If so, how do I transfer my files?

I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space (32 GB), and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run itunes from an external hard drive? I have tried to follow some of the directions on this site, but am having no success. Thanks.

iTunes will run fine with the media on an external drive.
However, I suggest that a tablet computer with a tiny hard drive is not ideal as the primary computer for managing an iTunes library, even a small one. If you have another machine, perhaps a big, boxy, inexpensive old desktop with a decent amount of storage, that might be a better choice.

  • I am trying to reinstall iTunes but everytime I try to reinstall it, it is telling me that I can't because I have a newer version of Quicktime installed. The problem is that I cannot uninstall this, please help.

I have just purchased an iPhone 4, but it wasn't connecting to my iTunes, so I took advice and uninstalled iTunes. But when I am trying to reinstall iTunes, it keeps telling me that I cannot because I have a newer version of Quicktime installed. I cannot find this newer version anywhere, and have gotten rid of the Quicktime folder, but it is still refusing to install iTunes.
Please help, I have tried everything.

But when I am trying to reinstall iTunes, it keeps telling me that I cannot because I have a newer version of Quicktime installed.
That's usually caused by damaged QuickTime installation configuration information on the PC.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • I have all my music on external hard drive. It doesn't all import to Itunes

I have about 76 gigs of music on my external hard drive. I just got a new ipod and I need to put the music on it. When I try to put the music on the hard drive into ITunes I only get 60 gigs of music in ITunes. I found a specific album that didn't import and it won't add to ITunes by File, Add to Library, or dragging. I assume thats the same thing it did to the rest of my music. How do I get it to all add?

Launch iTunes with the Option key held down, click on Choose Library, and specify it. If the external drive doesn't contain the iTunes database files, create a new library there and import that music.
If the library contains any rented movies, they won't play on a different computer.

I had my itunes library on an external drive, I now have a new Windows 7 computer. How can I access my library?

    Hello, robertfromboulder city.
Thank you for the question.  You can direct iTunes to read your media off your external drive.  To do this, follow the instructions below.  See the section in the first article labeled Discovering and changing the iTunes Media folder location.
Where are my iTunes files located?

  • I had all my iTunes music backed up onto a hard drive; but the hard drive was stolen along with all the files I backed up onto it. However, the songs I had in iTunes still show up (I just can't play them.) Would it let me get them back?

I had all my iTunes music backed up onto a hard drive; but the hard drive was stolen along with all the files I backed up onto it. However, the songs I had in iTunes still show up (I just can't play them.) If I were to use iCloud, would it still take those songs and let me listen to them (and maybe re-download them?) Or am I out of luck?

Open iTunes, go to the iTunes Store, and then go to Purchased on the right hand side under Music Quick Links.
You can re-download all the songs, apps, or books you have previously purchased.
I'm not sure if this is a requirement, but just in case, make sure you download the latest version of iTunes (v10.3) too.

I have an OS X 10.6.6 MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) and i am trying to format my whole hard drive (back to factory settings) from the original CD.
    Can someone please give instructions?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
To restore the MacBook Pro to factory settings:
    1. Make a backup of your files because everything will be erased.
    2. Insert the Snow Leopard disc and press the C key while your Mac is starting to start from the DVD.
    3. Go to Utilities menu > Disk Utility, select Macintosh HD on the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the disk.
    4. Close Disk Utility and install Mac OS X
