I have a number od cds referring to X-rays and MRI scans which played perfectly on my old PC, but now that I've migrated to an imac none of them will open. Any suggestions? I am anything but an expert.

I have a number of cds referring to X-rays and MRI scans taken over the last few years, and I used to be able to open them on my old PC, but having recently migrated to an imac none of these will open. Any suggestions to a complete non-expert in the mac world would be greatly appreciated.

Another thought, if they're just typical image files like jpegs, or PDFs or some other universal file format. Have a friend with a windows computer copy the contents of the CDs to an external media source (flash drive, external HDD etc) and copy them to your mac.
If they were burned by the medical staff to be ran as a program then they may not be comptable with Mac OS. If this is the case see about having a friend copy the images for you.

Why did my strokes change back to uniform after I used livepaint? Now I can't even figure out how to change them back. Any suggestions?

I created an image and tried to color it using livepaint. Afterwards, my strokes changed back to uniform in appearance and I can't change them back. Why? Or any suggestions on what I might try?

LIvepaint can only work with standard strokes.
If you want to color something that uses brush strokes or variable width you need to first expand it (object > expand appearance)

I ought a iPod at Best Buy yesterday I loaded 4 acts from the App Store on to it. All 4 of the apps do not work today but they didn't work when I installed them. They are Dragon natural speaking Skype Facebook and Spotlity. none of them will open

I purchasedt an iPod touch from Best Buy yesterday. I loaded for apps from the App Store Dragon NaturallySpeaking Skype Spotify Facebook. All of these programs worked fine yesterday when I installed them. I start it up today I try to activate the icon and it looks like it's trying to open but does not all were of them have the exact same symptoms.

I have lots of downloaded files but since last week none of them will open.

There is some kind of glitch going on with Firefox because a Gmail setting also won't work with it whereas it does in IE. But everything else seems OK except the downloads. It's as if all the files have been grayed out. They don't respond to a double click or to the open option on right click.

If you are getting the blank app update screen, many, many people are having this problem over the last couple of days. It is a problem that Apple must fix now.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
1. Go to App Store
2. Select Purchased
3. Select All
4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this. It is a workaround only until then.

1. It is possible you have a print job stuck in the print queue. Double-click the Home button, and a row of recent Apps will line up along the bottom of the screen. Scroll across and look for the Print Center. If you find it, you should be able to clear it.
2. A bit more far-fetched, but I wonder if your iPad might have jumped to a neighbor's WiFi? I have had this happen when the neighbor's WiFi SSID was the same as mine. It showed up when I tried to print. There are a LOT of WiFis out there named Linksys!

The receiver should be able to play the iPod with a USB connection or with the iPod dock. Neither works with my iPod however both work with my iPhone 3g. The iPod has the latest software. Any thoughts?

If it is a 5-year old iPod, there is the possibility that the receiver simply won't work with the older software (there hasn't been an iPod Classic software update in years). You might try contacting Yamaha support (or doing a google search) to see if it is a known issue. One solution (probably the easiest) is to get a cable that connects a min jack (i.e., a headphone jack) to stereo cables, and just connect the iPod up that way. You eliminate the risk of corrupting the iPod, and it is a solution that should always work. Just use a wall charger to power the iPod.

I am currently having the same problem with music that is downloaded to my laptop and stored into itunes/itunes match which is not downloading to my ipad. I had this same problem a few months a go and it was fixed with a update to my ipad but it has happened again with most recent update. The bad thing is I didn't notice until I went to listen to the music on my ipad and it was available. Apple is becoming very unattractive to me. I am in search of a diffrent device.

You aren't being left in any lurch. Your hardware is obsolete, and the software world has moved on. If you have a qualm about the matter then discuss it with the software's developers. Apple is not responsible for software they do not develop. This is technology, and you will just need to get used to it.
