Given Mavericks OS X 10.9.5 is said to no longer be available, you may wish to try your luck first
with Mountain Lion 10.8.5 just in case your older computer does not like Yosemite 10.10.1. From
what I understand, you'd likely pay a fee to get & use Mt Lion. That may be worth it, if the unit
does not prefer Yosemite; and it may be difficult to revert to an older one after installing 10.10.

Mavericks has crashed my MacBook Pro.
I was offered the upgrade as a free and reccomended Apple Software Update that arrived on my computer.
I installed Maverick received an error during installation saying the HD was bad. I ran utility disk and internet recovery and attempted to boot in safe mode to no avail. My computer no longer had an OS. (I ran both OSX and WIN on my new HD). I took it to the Apple store and it was determined it was a software failure (Maverick) and not my harddrive. The tech at Apple told me I could take it to a data recovery place on MY dime to attempt to recover anything from the HD. I ran several expensive architectural programs which are now lost. Any advice as which aveneue to take next is much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Note, backing up is not a choice in computing. You either value your data or you don't. And when you install new software the drive is that much more at risk, if it is marginal. This is true of any operating system update because of the number of changes that happen at once. -

I have a pioneer vsx-910-k and airport express.I have a wireless network at home. What's the best arquiecture/config to do with this hardware?
I would suggest that you connect the Pioneer to the AirPort Express Base Station using an optical digital audio cable that has a TOSlink connector on one end and a 3.5 mm optical connector (Mini Plug) on the other. You can then connect the Mini Plug end into the AirPort's audio port and the TOSlink end into one of the Pioneer's optical digital audio ports.

iTunes is unable to run. I tried to run iTunes and a message comes up that says "the iTunes library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file." what is the solution to unlock it ?!
I have tried both suggestions, unfortunately neither fixed this for me. Hoping there's another possible fix. Thanks in advance.

If you have a processor of 867 MHz or faster and a minimum of 512 MB of RAM, you can run OS X Leopard, updated to 10.5.8.
That's as far as a G4 can go.

Adobe currently supports Acrobat X and Acrobat XI for Mac and Windows platforms. Trax and kirt are correct. I'm pretty good with technology, being an engineer and all, and I can tell you for a fact that this 'swoosh' sound (triggered by a successfully sent SMS) can NOT be disabled from ANY menu in iOS 5. The ONLY way to disable it is to flip the silent switch on the left hand side of the phone. This is extremely annoying for some people (like trax, kirt, and myself). For what we pay for Apple products and, in particular, this phone, we simply didn't expect to have to deal with such annoyances. That's why we're Mac users. Please fix this bug.
I feel like I shouldn't have to say this but it bears repeating: turning off message sounds from the 'sounds' menu does not fix his problem. It still emits the swoosh noise. Whoever suggested this clearly didn't try it because it obviously doesn't work. Who posts a solution to a problem without knowing for a fact that their solution is correct? I find that response condescending because he writer is assuming we're not smart enough to have tried it. In reality, it's vice versa. -
